JMEV Debuts in Singapore with the Elight Sedan

JMEV Elight

JMEV is the latest marque to grace our local shores, and their first foray into the EV market is the new Elight sedan.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on the Singapore car market lately, you’ll know it’s starting to resemble a game of musical chairs, except the music’s playing to the beat of Mandarin pop and the chairs are being claimed by a growing legion of Chinese EV brands.

Now, JMEV has joined this party. At a recent launch, JMEV rolled out the Elight EV, its very first model for Singapore.

The Elight is an EV sedan that is similar in size to the Toyota Corolla Altis. Up front, it’s driven by a single motor sending power to the front wheels, and it’s got a 63kWh battery pack tucked beneath. Power is a modest 108kW of power and 225Nm of torque, comfortably slotting it into Cat A COE.

It’s 0 to 100km/h times won’t make the earth move, but the Elight’s party trick is the WLTP urban range. 600km on a single charge. That’s enough to get you from Changi to Tuas and back, several times.

When it eventually does need a top-up, the Elight supports DC fast charging that juices it from 30 to 80 per cent in half an hour.

From the outside, matrix LED headlights flank a clean, contemporary face. The whole package rolls on a set of 17-inch alloys.

Open the doors and you’re greeted by a leather-lined cabin that fits five. Both front seats get six-way power adjustment.

In the middle, a 14.6-inch touchscreen acts as the command centre. A smaller 7.0-inch display sits in front of the driver, showing range, speed, and everything else you’d expect from a digital cluster.

Boot space stands at 410 litres. Enough for groceries, golf bags, or a very enthusiastic IKEA trip. Though if you’re planning the last one, maybe fold the seats.

You get the full suite of ADAS features, and then some. A 360-degree panoramic camera, automatic emergency braking, cruise control, and even an electronic parking brake.

Pick from Aurora White, Marble Black, Moonlit Purple, Future Cyan, or Crystal Blue, names that sound like a Spotify playlist for winding down. Inside, you’ve got two options: dual-tone Sandstone or Midnight Black.

In celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday, JMEV is knocking a neat $60,000 off the Elight’s original price. That brings the cost down to a very tempting $156,888 with COE.

This promotion only runs till 6 August 2025.

If you’re curious, you can book a test drive at JMEV’s showroom at 237/241 Telok Kurau Road, Telok Mansions. They’re open daily from 10am to 6pm.
