Motul Returns To Support Great Wall Motor Factory Racing At The Taklimakan Rally

Motul has announced its return as the official lubricant partner of Great Wall Motor (GWM) Factory Racing for the 2026 Taklimakan Rally in Xinjiang, China.

The partnership marks the second consecutive year that the French lubricant specialist will support GWM’s factory-backed campaign at what is widely regarded as one of the region’s toughest motorsport challenges.

For Motul, the rally serves as a real-world test bench for the company’s high-performance lubricant technologies, while also strengthening its presence within China’s rapidly growing automotive industry. The partnership further reflects a shared focus on technical excellence and innovation between the two companies.

To support GWM’s off-road campaign, Motul will supply a range of motorsport-focused lubricants led by its flagship 300V racing engine oil. Developed with Motul’s proprietary Ester Core® technology, the lubricant is designed to provide thermal stability, wear protection and reliability under the extreme conditions associated with competitive rallying.

The package also includes Motul’s Gear Competition transmission lubricant and Racing Brake Fluid 660, products developed to withstand the significant mechanical and thermal loads generated during long-distance off-road competition.

Carlo Savoca, Chief Marketing Officer of Motul Asia Pacific, said: “Motorsport has always been at the core of Motul’s DNA and partnering with Great Wall Motor allows us to demonstrate the true power of our lubrication technology. This partnership allows us to bring our world-class product portfolio to the forefront of the region’s automotive sector, reinforcing our strategic vision to deepen Motul’s presence and commitment within China’s dynamic and rapidly evolving automotive market.”

YU Yunlong, Motorsport Director of Great Wall Motors, added: “For a grueling event like the Taklimakan Rally, choosing the right technical partner is critical. With its world-class racing heritage and unmatched lubrication technology, Motul was an obvious choice for our high-performance requirements. The technical support and products Motul provide give our vehicles a definitive competitive edge, ensuring maximum reliability when it matters most. We look forward to a successful rally and a strong, enduring partnership together.”

Motul’s involvement in the Taklimakan Rally is part of a wider motorsport strategy that sees the company continue developing and validating its lubricant technologies under some of the world’s most demanding racing conditions.

Through partnerships with leading manufacturers and racing teams, the company continues to leverage motorsport as a platform for innovation, performance and product development.
