Mazda has officially launched its new electric 6e sedan here, following an earlier preview at the Singapore Motorshow in January.
Mazda is stepping fully into the electric revolution in Singapore with the launch of its new 6e, which was unveiled at an event held at Suntec City on 20 August.
The 6e is Mazda’s first electric sedan, and just the second electric Mazda to officially go on sale here after the MX-30. The car was previewed at the 2026 Singapore Motorshow earlier this year in January, and it has finally gone on sale after much anticipation.
The 6e effectively replaces the popular Mazda 6 sedan in the lineup, and marks a major shift from the brand as it embraces the electrification age.
The styling of the 6e is very much inspired by the 6 that came before it, with its sleek fastback body shape that signifies an evolution of the brand’s ‘Kodo – Soul of Motion’ design language.
Highlights include the frameless doors, streamlined door handles and a distinctive lighting signature that incorporates cylindrical elements that harks back to the original first-generation Mazda 6.
Meanwhile, a retractable rear spoiler amps up the sportiness factor, and contributes to high speed stability when deployed.
The 6e is a sizable car, measuring in at 4,921mm long, and sitting on a dedicated EV platform means that it can offer a lengthy wheelbase of 2,895mm, resulting in plenty of space and legroom for passengers, especially in the rear.
The interior reflects the modern EV era, with the floating 14.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen providing the access point for most of the vehicle’s key functions. In front of the driver sits a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, while there is also an augmented reality head-up display as well.
Mazda will be offering two variants of the 6e here, namely Sports and GT. The difference mainly pertains to the interior trim, with the Sports featuring black leatherette on the upholstery and steering wheel, while the GT offers Tan Nappa leather and Suede upholstery, and two-toned leather on the steering wheel.
Under the skin, both cars are otherwise identical, with the 6e being powered by a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, and producing 190kW/255bhp and 290Nm of torque. It uses a 78kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, and Mazda claims a WLTP-rated range of up to 560km on a full charge.
Pricing starts at $229,888 with COE for the Mazda 6e Sports, while the higher-spec Mazda 6e GT is retailing for $235,888 with COE.
