Mercedes-Benz has launched its all-new GLC Electric, with the car being unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Studio at Gardens By The Bay.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric has been officially launched in Singapore, with the car being unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Studio at Gardens By The Bay on 20 August.

The Studio, which will officially open to public visitors on 2 September, is designed as a limited-time destination that serves as an event space for automotive experiences, lifestyle events and creative collaborations.
The Singapore location is one of just 14 such Studios worldwide, and is the first in Southeast Asia.

Heralding another breakthrough though is the first-ever fully-electric GLC, which marks a significant shift for one of the brand’s best-selling SUV models. More importantly, the GLC Electric is the first Mercedes-Benz model to sit on the brand’s MB.EA (Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture) platform, which will underpin a whole host of new EVs over the coming years.
Just one drivetrain option for the GLC Electric will be available for now, with the GLC 400 4Matic featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 360kW/469bhp and 800Nm of torque. This enables the car to go from 0-100km/h in a brisk 4.3 seconds, while a two-speed transmission on the rear axle helps to give the car the right combination of performance and efficiency.

The motors are powered by a large 94.4kWh battery, and gives the car a claimed range of up to 687km. The 800V architecture allows ultra fast DC charging at speeds of up to 330kW, and Mercedes-Benz claims that the battery can go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 22 minutes. It also adds that when hooked up to a suitable high-powered charging station, the GLC 400 can gain 305km worth of range in just 10 minutes.
The design of the GLC Electric also marks a major departure for the brand, with the car featuring a new interpretation of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic grille. On the GLC, the grille features 942 illuminated elements that surround the main Mercedes-Benz star emblem. Star-shaped elements also feature in the headlights and taillights, while flush-fitting door handles help with enhancing aerodynamic efficiency.

Sitting on the new dedicated EV platform means that Mercedes-Benz can improve on the GLC’s packaging, and the electric model has a wheelbase that’s 84mm longer than the internal combustion engine (ICE) model, resulting in more passenger space.

It also features an impressive boot capacity of 570 litres, expandable to 1,740 litres when the rear seats are folded, and they are complemented by a frunk department that can hold up to 128 litres of capacity.

The interior is dominated by the now-familiar MBUX Superscreen layout, but buyers who opt for the top-spec GLC 400 AMG Line Sport version will get the new MBUX Hyperscreen, which features a large 39.1-inch display that stretches across the entire width of the dashboard seamlessly, making for a distinctive experience.

Another interior highlight is the Sky Control panoramic roof, which consists of nine individual segments, and allows users to select from three different settings, or adjust each segment on its own to create a unique pattern.

Pricing for the all-new GLC Electric starts from $378,888 with COE for the AMG Line variant, while the higher-spec AMG Line Sport model goes for $412,888 with COE.
For the extra outlay, you get the aforementioned MBUX Hyperscreen setup, rear axle steering, AIRMATIC intelligent suspension, and a Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers, among other features.
