Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Arrives In Singapore, As Electric GT 4-Door Coupé Makes An Appearance

Mercedes-AMG introduces its latest performance SUV and Coupé ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, alongside a glimpse of its all-electric future.

The heart of the new GLC 53 is a revised 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 449hp and 600Nm of torque.

An overboost function temporarily increases torque to 640Nm for up to ten seconds, allowing both variants to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.2 seconds.

The engine benefits from a redesigned cylinder head, revised intake system and an electrically assisted compressor, improving throttle response and power delivery across the rev range. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system also provides additional assistance, while a specially tuned exhaust ensures the six-cylinder engine retains its distinctive AMG soundtrack.

Power is channelled through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels via the fully variable 4MATIC+ system.

The GLC 53 also features AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping, allowing drivers to choose between comfortable everyday driving and a more focused sporting experience. Standard rear-axle steering improves manoeuvrability at lower speeds while enhancing stability during faster directional changes.

For those seeking something more adventurous, the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package introduces a RACE driving programme, electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential and Drift Mode. Quite how often owners will find an appropriate opportunity to use the latter in Singapore is another matter entirely.

The new model is also available with an optional Golden Accents Package, combining dark exterior finishes with distinctive techgold detailing, 21-inch forged wheels and coordinated interior trim.

“The GLC 53 brings together two sides of AMG that our customers value. It is practical and comfortable enough for everyday life, but when the moment calls for it, there is the performance, response and emotion you expect from an AMG. That duality is not a compromise. It is the AMG experience.”

Marcel Luis Mustelier Perez, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore.

While the GLC 53 celebrates the appeal of combustion-engine performance, the all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé represents the brand’s next chapter.

The upcoming model recently made its Asian debut at the adidas Orchard Ignition event, where Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 reserve driver Fred Vesti demonstrated the car along Orchard Road.

Built on the new AMG.EA architecture, the electric performance saloon incorporates axial-flux motors and a directly cooled battery system developed through the CONCEPT AMG GT XX technology programme.

The underlying technology has already demonstrated its endurance credentials, with the concept covering more than 40,000km in under eight days while setting multiple world records.

The production GT 4-Door Coupé is being previewed ahead of its official arrival in Singapore, with further local details expected closer to launch.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 4MATIC+ is now available in Singapore, with introductory prices starting at S$475,888 for the SUV and S$483,888 for the Coupé.
