How Does ACOTY Define This Class?

Hatchbacks used to be common on our roads, but most of the brands have since transformed them into crossovers or SUVs.

This list is only for the bonefide hatchback cars, and both candidates showcased below were previously victorious in their respective Round 1 categories.

Meet The Contenders

Nissan Note e-POWER

The Nissan Note e-POWER beat out the Suzuki Swift to win Best Cat A Hatchback.

This practical and well-appointed facelift puts its successes on display, and the points it garnered pointed to unanimity among the judging panel.

MG 4

The MG 4 beat out the ORA Good Cat to win Best Cat A Hatchback EV. It’s fun nature and stylish looks are an instant winner in our eyes.

MINI Cooper SE

The MINI Cooper SE beat out the Toyota Prius and Volkswagen Golf R to win Best Cat B Hatchback.

MINI did a fantastic job with the fifth-generation MINI Cooper SE, presenting it as a huge upgrade from its predecessor.

So who won?

For transparency sake, price isn’t the only factor in deciding an eventual winner. The winner has to be desirable, a good all-rounder, and above all else, worth its market value.

Where the points tally in Round 1 was the final determinant of each category’s winner, here in Round 2, points are taken into consideration but are not the final arbiter of victory.
