all-electric – AutoApp Dev https://www.autoapp.sg/dev Thu, 25 Jul 2024 12:05:00 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9 The Upcoming Fourth-Generation Porsche Cayenne Will Be “All-Electric” https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=276536 Thu, 25 Jul 2024 12:05:00 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=276536 Don’t worry, petrolheads. Porsche assures us that there will still be a range of powerful combustion and hybrid Cayenne models to choose from, but all fourth-generation models will have some form of electrification.

“The Cayenne has always defined the sports car in its segment,” says Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG. “Mid-decade, the fourth generation will set new standards as an electric SUV.”

The current Porsche Cayenne, which recently received one of the most extensive upgrades in Porsche’s history, is set for further development.

The focus will be on enhancing the powertrains, particularly the efficiency of the V8 engine crafted at the Zuffenhausen plant. These upgrades will ensure the twin-turbo engine meets future legislative requirements.

The fourth-generation Porsche Cayenne is rumoured to use the advanced Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture. “We’re going to use the potential of electrification to elevate the Cayenne to new heights,” says Michael Steiner, Porsche’s Executive Board Member for Research and Development.

After extensive digital development and testing, the first camouflauged prototypes of the all-electric fourth-generation Porsche Cayenne have hit the road. “Real-world testing has begun, marking a crucial milestone,” says Michael Schätzle, Vice President of the Cayenne Product Line.

“These prototypes will cover millions of test kilometres under extreme conditions to ensure durability and reliability. This rigorous testing guarantees the hardware, software, and all functions meet our high standards,” Schätzle adds.

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT The New Formula E Safety Car https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=274616 Mon, 13 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=274616 Two Taycan Turbo GT assumed the role of safety cars in the all-electric world championship.

At the double header in Berlin on 11 and 12 May, the most powerful production Porsche of all time, the Taycan Turbo GT, assumed the role of safety car in the all-electric world championship. Two variants will be the car on duty and the substitute car respectively, with different features and in different colours.

“Sustainability and electrification are of great importance to Porsche, which is reflected in our motorsport activities – including the deployment of the Taycan Turbo GT as a safety car,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport.

“This is symbolic of the fact that we learn from motorsport for series applications. In Formula E, this is especially true of our electric sports cars, for example in energy management. This is another reason why the Taycan has improved in almost every discipline recently.”

The new Taycan has more power with a greater range and charges faster and more robustly. The Turbo GT has been at the top of the range since March. With record-breaking laps at the Nürburgring and Laguna Seca, it showcased its consistent circuit configuration.

With the optional Weissach package, it can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 2.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h.

The Attack Mode, with temporary boosts of up to an extra 163hp, is based on the technology of the Porsche 99X Electric, the current world-championship-winning Formula E car.

For the first time ever, two versions of the electric world championship’s safety car will lead the way.

The Taycan Turbo GT in the exclusive exterior colour Purple Sky Metallic will be performing its duties with the Weissach package and therefore without any rear seats.

The second car in Shade Green Metallic will be in action without the added performance boost as a four-seater.

The Porsche specialists at Manthey based at the Nürburgring will continue to look after the vehicles. These experts are also responsible for installing any necessary modifications.

These modifications include elements such as the warning lights and related electrics, high-tech communication equipment, and fire extinguishers. The experienced Portuguese driver Bruno Correia will remain at the wheel of the safety car.

Hyundai Motor Company continued its winning streak at the World Car Awards today with the IONIQ 5 N high-performance electric vehicle (EV) named the 2024 World Performance Car.

This is Hyundai IONIQ 5 lineup’s fourth major World Car Awards win in the last three years and solidifies IONIQ 5 N’s position as a frontrunner in the market as it continues to outpace EV rivals with its outstanding high-performance technology.

“We are thrilled and honoured to receive the prestigious World Performance Car award for our IONIQ 5 N,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company.

“This recognition is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric performance and innovation. It is truly gratifying to see our efforts rewarded with a total of seven World Car Awards titles in the last three years. We are proud to continue our winning streak and solidify Hyundai’s position as a leader in the global EV industry.”

“On behalf of the entire N team, it’s very gratifying to receive this well-earned recognition from the prestigious World Car Awards jury,” said José Muñoz, President and Global COO of Hyundai Motor Company.

“We dedicate this amazing award to our passionate customers who appreciate high-performance vehicles, and we pledge to continue to deliver vehicles that excite and inspire. We are thrilled to lead the charge in this new era of electric performance vehicles and are committed to continually challenging the limits of engineering possibilities for smart mobility.”

World Car Awards announced the winners of this year’s competition at a ceremony during the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Hyundai Motor’s many nominations reflect its growing stature on the global stage and build on its past success at the World Car Awards.

The brand’s IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 took back-to-back triple victories in 2022 and 2023 in the World Car, World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design categories.

Introduced in July 2023 as Hyundai N’s first EV, IONIQ 5 N represents a new segment of driver-focused high-performance EVs through new technologies and elevated racetrack capability, signalling the first step in N’s electrification strategy.

It combines the standard IONIQ 5’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with N’s motorsport-bred technologies and leverages N’s expertise from electrified ‘Rolling Labs’ to maximize the EV’s high-performance capabilities.

IONIQ 5 N has been widely praised in the media as ‘groundbreaking’, a ‘game-changer’, and the ‘benchmark’ for high-performance EVs. IONIQ 5 N also won Top Gear’s 2023 Car of the Year Award and set the fastest electric SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife by Germany’s ‘Sport Auto’.

“IONIQ 5 N represents a defining moment for Hyundai N and our electrification strategy. By combining our E-GMP platform with N’s motorsport expertise, we have created a groundbreaking high-performance EV that has set a new benchmark in the industry,” said Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand & Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company.
