BMW Asia recently announced the availability of the first-ever BMW iX2, a fully electric Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) that has a large spread of technology on board.

The BMW iX2 eDrive20 M Sport variant boasts 148bhp and 250Nm, enabling a century sprint time of 8.6 seconds.

Powered by a 64.8kWh battery, the pack offers up to 478km of range (WLTP). For those who fret over charging times, a DC charger can top it up from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes at 130kW.

The iX2 offers 525 litres of cargo space, expandable to 1,400 litres with the rear seats down.

Step inside, and you’re greeted with a 10.25-inch instrument display paired with a 10.7-inch infotainment screen, running BMW’s Operating System 9. 20-inch rims come as standard too.

Exclusive Perks for Singapore Customers

For the Singapore market, BMW i customers have the luxury of choosing between a wall-mounted AC charger with complimentary installation or a subscription package of 10,000kWh over three years at Shell Recharge stations, with no monthly cap.

If the success of the BMW iX1 is anything to go by, the iX2 will surely be a hit with the local crowd.

BMW Debuts New X2 and All-electric iX2 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=268439 Tue, 17 Oct 2023 06:14:26 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=268439 The all-new BMW X2 is bigger, bolder, and hungrier than ever.

BMW is back in action with the second coming of their X2. It’s like the X2 decided to hit the gym, bulked up, and slapped on some snazzy new attire. So, what’s all the buzz about this bold Bavarian?

First things first, you can’t help but notice that iconic BMW kidney grille. It’s not just there; it’s throwing a bold statement, saying, “I’m here to dominate.” Yup, it’s bigger, bolder, and more in your face than ever. A little divisive, perhaps, but hey, it’s all about personality.

Now, take a step back and soak it all in. This X2 has grown, and it’s not shy about it. It’s like it stretched out in every direction; longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. We’re talking an extra 194mm in length, 21mm in width, and a 64mm growth spurt in height.

Despite the coupe-like sloping roofline, it manages to provide more headroom, and it’s got some extra elbow room too.

For power, you’ve got a trio of choices here. The sDrive20i is your entry ticket, powered by a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine that’s good for 168bhp. It’s no slouch, sprinting from 0-100km/h in a cool 8.3 seconds. And it’s not just about power; it’s efficient too, claiming 20km/litre.

But hold on to your driving gloves; here comes the M35i xDrive. This one’s got a fiery 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. You can tell it’s ready for action with those quad exhausts. With 296bhp and 400Nm on tap, it’s not playing around. It can hit the century sprint in just 5.4 seconds, and it’s got a top speed of 249km/h. Oh, and you can even opt for those snazzy M Compound brakes.

Now, for the electric enthusiast in the house, there’s the iX2. It’s the most powerful of the bunch, offering 309bhp, and it’s got some serious torque at 493Nm. The catch? Well, it’s two-tenths slower to 100km/h, probably because of the extra weight it’s carrying around. But the battery still gives you 428km of freedom.

When it’s time to recharge, it doesn’t mess around; 130kW DC charging can juice it up from 10 to 80 per cent in just 29 minutes.

It’s not just about power, folks. The X2 packs the style and the tech too. M Sport spec comes as standard, blessing you with 19-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, and even a mechanical limited-slip diff.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a stunning 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen. They play well together, forming one big, beautiful display. It’s like they went all-in on tech, with BMW’s iDrive system and, yes, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So, no matter your digital allegiance, you’re covered.

Throw in heated sports seats, a dash of Alcantara, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sat-nav, automatic climate control, and a whole lot more. Oh, and in case you wondered, safety is the name of the game these days, and the X2 has plenty of it.

The grand debut of the new BMW X2 is just around the corner. It’s set to steal the spotlight at the Japan Mobility Show on October 26.

If you’re itching to get behind the wheel, the first global deliveries are slated for March 2024. A debut for Singapore doesn’t seem entirely out of the question too.
