Cycle & Carriage Signs Partnership with Gogoro https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=276181 Thu, 18 Jul 2024 09:31:21 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=276181 Cycle & Carriage (C&C) has partnered with Gogoro Inc to launch a new wave of battery-swappable electric scooters.

This collaboration will see C&C become the exclusive distributor for Gogoro’s innovative battery-swapping system and Smartscooters in Singapore.

“While battery swapping technology and two-wheel electric vehicles are relatively new in Singapore, our partnership with Gogoro will accelerate the growth,” said Wilfrid Foo, Managing Director of Cycle & Carriage Singapore.

“The positive feedback from Foodpanda riders and valuable data gained from the sandbox pilot has given us the confidence to commercialise Gogoro in Singapore. We believe that this is a viable green mobility solution for Singapore.”

The Trial Test

Back in March 2023, C&C and Gogoro launched a pilot with Foodpanda, one of Singapore’s leading food delivery platforms. The goal was to test Gogoro’s Smartscooters and battery-swapping technology.

The pilot, set to conclude in September 2024, has been a resounding success. Riders have praised the Smartscooters for their speed, cool running temperature, silent operation, and minimal vibrations.

Battery swaps, completed in less than a minute, have proven to be quick and convenient. Riders are also pleased with the all-inclusive leasing package and aftersales support offered by C&C. On average, each rider covers about 2,200 km per month, performing up to two battery swaps daily, with each swap allowing up to 100 km of travel.

Azhar, a Foodpanda rider who participated in the pilot, shared, “I actually saved a lot of time with the battery swap compared to queuing up at petrol stations. The riding experience is also very comfortable, efficient, and convenient; the ignition method is very easy, with just a tap of the card and a thumbprint.”

The pilot revealed that Gogoro’s sustainable mobility solution is particularly beneficial for logistics, delivery fleets, and gig workers. Smartscooters provide a more convenient and quieter ride compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, making them an attractive option for riders looking to go green and reduce their carbon footprint.

Horace Luke, founder and CEO of Gogoro, announced, “After working closely with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to secure a permit to launch our battery-swapping platform in Singapore, I am pleased to announce that Gogoro is now certified to operate in Singapore. This certification is a testament to how safe, smart, reliable, and eco-friendly Gogoro battery swapping is.”

GoStations Coming to Singapore

Gogoro and C&C have secured licensing rights to install Gogoro’s battery-swapping GoStations in Singapore. Complying with the Technical Requirements 25 (TR25) safety and performance standards, the stations have undergone stringent tests.

C&C has partnered with Shell Recharge to launch the first GoStation at Shell Yio Chu Kang service station, set to be completed by August 2024. More GoStations will be rolled out at Shell service stations across the island over the next two years.

C&C will introduce three electric Smartscooter models from Gogoro by Q4 2024:

  • Gogoro SuperSport: The flagship model, offering superior power and sporty dynamics for affluent riders.
  • Gogoro Premium: A stylish, everyday commuter with gloss metallic body panels and seat badge.
  • Gogoro Viva Mix: A cost-efficient model designed for higher mileage users.

The new Gogoro showroom will be located at the C&C Electric Commercial Vehicle Hub at 330 Ubi Road 3, Singapore 408650, ready by Q4 2024.

C&C will also launch an all-inclusive leasing package for riders, including battery-swapping services, and service and maintenance, making operating costs more predictable compared to ICE motorcycles.

Strengthening Partnerships

Foodpanda, a key partner in the pilot, is working on a long-term partnership with C&C to lease Gogoro Smartscooters to their riders.

C&C is in discussions with other partners in the last-mile delivery space to expand the sales of Gogoro Smartscooters and scale up battery-swapping GoStations in Singapore.

You Can Now Buy The New ORA Good Cat Today https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=266098 Thu, 03 Aug 2023 19:37:39 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=266098 Cycle & Carriage (C&C) officially launched the ORA Good Cat 03 today, alongside the opening of the Great Wall Motors (GWM) showroom.

Prospective EV buyers in Singapore have a wealth of options when picking out a new EV, and now they have a new option – with the ORA Good Cat.

Officially named the Good Cat 03, this electric feline was officially launched in Great Wall Motors’ (GWM) new showroom located at 239 Alexandra Road, which will be the new home for future ORA models.

If the ORA Good Cat looks familiar to some, that’s because its chief designer is former Porsche designer Emanuel Derta. And it isn’t that tiny either. At 4,235mm long, 1,825mm wide and a wheelbase of 2,650mm, the Good Cat is similar in size to an Audi A3.

Its opening price is $161,999, and it sits as a Cat A COE model. A single front electric motor punches out 105kW and 210Nm of torque, enabling the Cat to rock the century sprint in 11 seconds, climbing to a top speed of 150km/h.

The Singapore variant will receive a 63kWh battery, giving it an effective range of 420km (WLTP). ORA claims an efficiency of 6km/kWh.

It may look cute, but the ORA Good Cat is also equipped with an extensive list of safety features. Six airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Evade and Lane Departure Warning, the list goes on, so you’ll be assured that you are safe on the roads.

Parking is easy too, with a 360-degree view camera and Auto Parking Assist, which can assist for reverse and parallel parking manoeuvres.

Vivid and cheerful are feelings you’ll find in the cabin of the ORA Good Cat. Front runners get electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and massage functions, a wireless smartphone charger, a panoramic sunroof, and a pair of 10.25-inch displays, with Apple CarPlay built into the infotainment system.

“Based on recent market research, 67% of existing petrol vehicle car owners indicated that they will likely sell their current ride by 2025, of which half of them are considering switching to an EV or a hybrid car,” said Mr Wilfrid Foo, Managing Director – Direct Motor Interests, Jardine Cycle & Carriage.

“We are thrilled to introduce the ORA Good Cat 03 Electric into the Singapore market and we look forward to unveiling more sustainable options in partnership with GWM as we embrace the electric revolution together.”

Mr Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, Vice President of Marketing for ASEAN of Great Wall Motor added, “GWM is a global intelligent technology company with 32 years of automotive manufacturing experience, and a rising brand among Chinese automotive brands in the global market. We are confident that the stylish design, remarkable performance, and advanced features of the ORA Good Cat 03 Electric will captivate Singaporean drivers as it did in other parts of the region such as Thailand and Malaysia.”

For those who wish to check out this feline for yourselves, it’s now available and sitting pretty in the ORA Singapore showroom.

Emission-Free Deliveries With Cycle & Carriage And SingPost https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=263986 Thu, 27 Apr 2023 18:20:34 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=263986 Cycle & Carriage (C&C), the authorised distributor for Citroen in Singapore, has recently announced a partnership that provides SingPost with 35 Citroën ë-Dispatch EV vans.

This partnership is part of SingPost’s target to transition to an all-electric delivery fleet by 2026. C&C has also collaborated with other companies like FairPrice Group and Uniqlo Singapore in the past, supplying new Citroën electric vans for a wide range of business needs.

On top of supplying SingPost with the vans, C&C will also conduct two new trials. The first is Mobile Servicing, which will see C&C technicians performing onsite servicing and maintenance for SingPost’s fleet at their headquarters, eliminating the need to drive the vans to a dedicated workshop. This will greatly streamline SingPost’s operations, further optimising operational efficiency whilst minimising downtime.

The second trial is Carbon Tracking and Reporting. Utilising telematics to transmit data from the vehicle, data will be sent to a central system for analysis and reporting. C&C will process this data to allow SingPost to analyse the amount of carbon they save, giving them accurate insights into their sustainability and decarbonisation efforts.

The trials are set to commence in June 2023, further underlining C&C’s scope as an e-Mobility service provider.

“We are excited to partner with SingPost on this important initiative,” said Ms Dawn Pan, Chief Operation Officer of Multi-Franchise Operations at Cycle & Carriage Singapore. “These illuminating trials will help us to continuously improve our services, and prove that we are not just any distributor. We also aim to help improve our clients’ operation efficiency and ease their journey to e-Mobility.”
