Mercedes-Benz Singapore unveiled the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” during its exclusive The Mercedes-Benz Collectors Club event, which also saw the unveiling of the IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 that was inspired by the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition”.

Mercedes-Benz highlights the exceptional status of the performance off-roader, which has been part of the legendary off-road family’s portfolio since 2002.

Limited to 1,000 units globally, the special model is painted in MANUFAKTUR night black magno, with gold-coloured details creating an exciting visual contrast and emphasising the particular design elements that trace the direct lineage of the modern off-road vehicle icon to the first G model from 1979.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Big Pilot’s Watch from IWC Schaffhausen share a similar story – they were both developed to meet purely functional requirements and have evolved over the years into modern icons while retaining their utilitarian origins.

After nearly 20 years of partnership with Mercedes-AMG, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer now celebrates these icons with this striking special edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch.

In Singapore, eight units of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” will be available for purchase, while the IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 will be sold separately and is available at all IWC Schaffhausen boutiques, selected authorised retail partners or online at IWC.com.

“Since its inauguration in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has established itself as an icon on- and off-road, delivering impeccable performance on every terrain. Today, we are proud to reveal the exclusive Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” in Singapore that has been made even more captivating and distinctive in this special release,” said Claudius Steinhoff, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore.

“This limited-edition model reflects our commitment to creating the world’s most desirable cars and introducing them to Singapore’s most discerning car owners and collectors.”

“We are also pleased that our long-time partner, IWC Schaffhausen, has joined us in debuting their special edition IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63, which was inspired by the design of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition”. The intersection between utilitarianism and functionality of the Big Pilot’s Watch and Mercedes-AMG G 63 is undeniable, and we are proud to work together with IWC Schaffhausen on yet another iconic launch,” he added.

For the first time, the “Grand Edition” features the AMG logo and the Mercedes star in Kalahari gold magno. In addition, the Affalterbach emblem of the performance brand is emblazoned on the bonnet in Kalahari gold magno.

The inlays in the front and rear bumpers, front optical underride protection, Mercedes star in the spare wheel inlay and the spare wheel ring are also finished in this colour. The expressive special model is fitted with 22-inch AMG forged wheels with a cross-spoke design in tech gold, with a matt black central locking nut and a Mercedes star in tech gold.

This colour tone is also used in the side foiling of the “Grand Edition” and the customised AMG Indoor Car Cover, which has a breathable outer layer of tear-resistant synthetic fibre fabric and anti-static flannel inner fabric, thus protecting the vehicle from dust and scratches in the garage.

The interior of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” is also defined by the contrast of black and gold. Upon entering the vehicle, occupants are greeted by “AMG” emblems on the black door sill trims, which have illuminated borders.

The seats are finished in MANUFAKTUR black nappa leather with contrasting gold stitching, while plaques with a gold AMG logo and gold edging are set into the backrests.

The floor mats are also finished in black and decorated with gold stitching, while the roof grab handles are finished in nappa leather.

The trim piece in the inlay of the grab handle on the passenger side is carbon with copper thread and bears a high-quality badge with the words “Grand Edition”. Other trim parts of the interior are finished in carbon with copper thread.

The AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre features a steering wheel clasp with a G 63 plaque.

The IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 special edition watch elegantly blends a striking black and gold contrast, drawing inspiration from the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition.”

Crafted with precision, its case and crown are meticulously made from 18-carat Armor Gold, an innovative alloy with a modified microstructure that enhances durability.

To infuse the timepiece with a refined, contemporary charm, the surfaces have been sand-blasted with the edges polished.

The black dial boasts a relief-effect technical texture reminiscent of the sleek designs of the front grilles and air intakes found in Mercedes-AMG performance cars, while the three-dimensional appliques, coated in black using advanced PVD technology, lend depth and sophistication.

Furthermore, the white rings surrounding the subdials for small seconds and power reserve pay homage to the iconic headlights of the G-Class, further enhancing its automotive-inspired design.

MINI Convertible Seaside Edition Debuts in Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=264827 Thu, 15 Jun 2023 07:55:52 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=264827 Another day, another special edition MINI. This time, its dubbed the MINI Convertible Seaside Edition.

MINI Asia and Eurokars Habitat have just launched the MINI Convertible Seaside Edition. Available exclusively in Singapore in the Cooper S variant, this sporty classic promises extreme exclusivity, with just 5 units being commissioned.

The Seaside Edition is distinguished by double decorative stripes in white that run from the side doors to the rear. A unique graphic on the front apron, featuring a stylized “30,” celebrates the model’s anniversary. Of course, the base colour is either a maritime-inspired Caribbean Aqua paint finish or a cloud-based Nanuq White finish.

The side scuttles bear the discreet “Seaside” lettering, with graphically designed numerals in light and dark blue paying homage to the 30th model anniversary. Floating wheel caps, designed to remain stationary even when the car is in motion, ensure that the stylized “30” on the wheel caps is always perfectly presented. Taken a page out of Rolls-Royce’s book, nice.

On the inside, the lower spoke of the sports leather steering wheel displays the eponymous “Seaside” lettering, while the decorative trim strips on the front dashboards feature a printed pattern and lettering unique to the car.

The same dashboard pattern is echoed on the floor mats in the form of a graphic badge.

Same as your standard ‘boring’ Cooper S variants, the latest generation of MINI’s operating system has a wide array of vehicle functions, audio programs, communication, navigation, and apps. Wireless Apple CarPlay is also available, allowing drivers to sync up with their favourite Apple devices.

Pairing together with the car, the MINI App ensures drivers are connected to their vehicles at all times, no matter where they are. Drivers can even personalise their in-app experience with a dedicated colour scheme and visual design for the MINI Convertible Seaside Edition.

MINI’s Driving Assistant package is also included as standard, enhancing safety on the road with its suite of safety features.

Equipped with a 2.0-litre, 178hp 4-pot heart, the Cooper S can rock the century sprint in just 6.9 seconds.

“As we celebrate the anniversary of the MINI Convertible, a true icon of individual style and top-down driving fun, we are thrilled to introduce the Seaside Edition,” said Mr. Kidd Yam, Head of MINI Asia.

“This special edition showcases exclusive equipment and design features, with a choice of the shimmering blue Caribbean Aqua paint finish or the light Nanuq White body colour. Each lucky owner will truly enjoy a level of exclusivity like no other.”

Aston Martin Debuts All-New DB12 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=264693 Wed, 07 Jun 2023 04:02:23 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=264693 The DB12 is the latest addition to Aston Martin’s prestigious DB bloodline.

Replacing its predecessor, the DB11, which hit the production line back in 2016, the Aston Martin DB12 comes roaring with a 4.0-litre AMG-sourced V8 engine. Aston Martin’s engineers have fine-tuned this powerhouse, equipping it with enhanced cam profiles, optimised compression ratios, and larger diameter turbochargers.

The result? A staggering 671 hp and 800 Nm of torque at your disposal.

Aston Martin has also given this magnificent engine a complete cooling system overhaul, introducing two additional auxiliary coolers alongside the central main radiator.

All of this power is seamlessly channelled through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. But what sets this DB model apart is the inclusion of an electronic limited-slip differential, capable of swiftly transitioning from fully open to 100% locked in the blink of an eye.

The Aston Martin DB12 is equipped with state-of-the-art intelligent adaptive dampers, a bonded aluminium structure, and an Electronic Power Assisted Steering system, this car promises fine-tuned craftsmanship and engineering excellence.

It doesn’t look radically different from the DB11 before it, but the DB12’s exterior has a newly reshaped radiator aperture and a new front splitter. The track has also been widened, with an increase of 6mm at the front and a significant 22mm at the rear compared to its predecessor.

The inside is where the Aston Martin DB12 stands apart from the outgoing DB11. A 10.25-inch infotainment screen sits proudly atop a sleekly sloping centre console, offering a range of features to keep you connected and entertained. The new online navigation system even allows you to discover your favourite restaurants and read reviews. So you can roll up to your favourite restaurant in style.

Of course, the leather is made from meticulously hand-stitched Bridge of Weir hides. Key mechanical operations such as gear selection, drive selection, heating, and ventilation are still controlled via physical switches. Thank god.

As with new tech these days, Aston Martin now has a new app, offering a plethora of services from monitoring and locating your vehicle to sending navigation points of interest, even guiding you on foot with last-mile navigation.

The Aston Martin DB12 will start gracing the streets in the third quarter of 2023.

All-New BMW M2 Coupe Debuts in Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=264218 Tue, 09 May 2023 10:29:24 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=264218 Make way, M240i. There’s a new kid on the block, and it’s packing some real muscle. This is the BMW M2 Coupe.

You’ve seen it in countless leaks online, and its controversial styling may have ruffled your feathers a little. Well, the hotly-anticipated BMW M2 Coupe is finally here in Singapore.

Now in its second generation, the new M2 coupe has muscular proportions and aggressive angles. BMW’s signature kidney grille is loud and proud here, with horizontal slats reminiscent of the recently introduced BMW XM.

Compared to the standard 2 Series Coupe, the M2 has a much wider track width, exemplified by the squared-off, almost boxy lower intake area. In fact, it shares its front and rear track widths with its bigger M4 sibling.

These aren’t for show either. The widened tracks greatly improve handling, giving you those massively flared wheel arches. The rear, is equally boxy, with quad tailpipes that sit loud and proud underneath the rectangular facade. Also included as standard equipment with Singapore-bound M2s is the carbon fibre roof, offered as an option in other markets.

Somehow, all of these elements coexist nicely together, giving the M2 a distinctive M charm. I’ll be honest, the look does grow on you too.

The cabin is equally decked out in carbon fibre, with a driver-centric cockpit design, similar to other BMW performance models. The M2 Coupe also runs BMW’s latest curved display, with Operating System 8 on tap for all connectivity needs.

M Sport seats spotting illuminated M logos come as standard equipment, while M Carbon bucket seats can be optioned if you’re the kind that takes your car to the track. Or the mall, in greater discomfort.

Equipped with the same S58 straight-6 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that you’ll find in the current BMW M3 and M4, alongside a myriad of chassis technology and electronic gizmos, the BMW M2 Coupe is built from the ground up to be a driver’s car.

In the M2, the engine punches out a slightly watered-down 453bhp and 550Nm of torque, a fair bit more than its F87 predecessor. All of that power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission as standard. If an automatic doesn’t tickle your fancy, the M2 can optionally be specced with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The dynamism of the M2 Coupe is made possible due to its compact dimensions and overall torsional stiffness of its body structure and chassis mountings, thanks to bespoke bracing. To make the car even more potent, a whole suite of M performance parts comes as standard too.

You get Active M Differential, Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M Servotronic steering with variable ratio, Dynamic Stability Control including M Dynamic Mode, and M Compound brakes (six pistons front, single piston rear).

With equipment like that, the BMW M2 Coupe does cost a pretty penny. At the time of writing, the BMW M2 is priced at $380,000 without COE.

Customers who wish to view the all-new BMW M2 can contact Eurokars Auto or Performance Motors Limited to make an appointment or place a deposit.
