Dongfeng by Volt Auto Named Official Young Lions Sponsor https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=283425 Mon, 01 Sep 2025 08:14:37 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=283425 The Football Association of Singapore has unveiled Dongfeng by Volt Auto and SELECT as official sponsors of the Young Lions ahead of the 2025/26 Singapore Premier League season.

SELECT continues to supply the official match ball and referee apparel, and now steps onto the pitch as the Young Lions’ kit supplier. Meanwhile, Dongfeng by Volt Auto takes pride of place on the front of the shirt.

“SELECT has been a valued supporter of the SPL ecosystem, providing quality equipment and apparel that meet international standards. We are pleased to deepen this collaboration with their role as the Young Lions’ kit supplier this season, which further strengthens their footprint across our football landscape. At the same time, we warmly welcome Dongfeng by Volt Auto into the fold as a new sponsor. Their decision to back the Young Lions reflects a shared belief in the power of youth, and football’s journey of growth.”

Chew Chun-Liang, FAS General Secretary

“The Young Lions embody drive, ambition and national pride, values that align with our brand and purpose. We believe in supporting local initiatives that nurture the next generation of leaders, and football is a powerful platform for that. We are delighted to be a part of football’s journey of growth, and looking forward to engaging meaningfully with Singapore fans and the wider community this season.”

Soh Ming, Founder and Managing Director of Dongfeng by Volt Auto

“We’re proud to take this next step with the Young Lions and the SPL. Our mission has always been to support the local game with the best tools to succeed, whether that’s through top-quality match balls, reliable referee gear, medical sport care supplies or professional-grade team kits.
It’s exciting to see how Singapore football continues to build on its foundation, and we’re honoured to play a part in that journey.”

Mr Sherman Lim, Director of Ryudben Sports

The Young Lions open against Balestier Khalsa on 21 September. Positivity is not a tactic, of course, but it does shape the environment; better kit, better tools, a sense that the broader ecosystem is paying attention.

New shirts, new sponsors, same mission: push the game forward, one well-earned point at a time. And if you spot a compact EV gleaming in a concourse again this season, don’t be surprised.

Dongfeng And Charge+ Forge Strategic Partnership https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=281191 Fri, 14 Mar 2025 14:56:15 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=281191 Dongfeng by Volt Auto and Charge+, the country’s largest EV charging operator, have joined forces to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership more accessible than ever.

Their latest initiative gives new Dongfeng Box owners three years of complimentary charging credits from Charge+.

It’s aimed at tackling one of the biggest concerns holding back EV adoption—range anxiety. For many, the fear of running out of charge with no charging station in sight is a deal-breaker.

This partnership looks to eliminate that worry, ensuring drivers enjoy seamless, hassle-free travel across Singapore without the constant concern of where to charge next.

“Range anxiety is one of the primary concerns for EV owners, and we are thrilled to partner with Charge+ to ensure that our Dongfeng Box customers have seamless access to fast-charging stations. The 3-year free charging credits promotion is our commitment to making electric vehicle ownership even more accessible and sustainable.”

Soh Ming, Managing Director of Volt Auto
Dongfeng and Charge+

To showcase the convenience of long-distance EV travel, Dongfeng by Volt Auto and Charge+ recently embarked on an ambitious cross-border road trip across Malaysia. This was a 3,097km journey that aimed to show EV owners they can travel beyond Singapore’s borders with ease.

Spanning 10 days, the journey saw the Dongfeng Box charging at strategically located Charge+ chargers in Johor, Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur, and Ipoh.

These stations are part of Charge+’s ambitious 5,000km EV charging highway, designed to connect Singapore all the way to Hanoi, making long-distance electric travel a reality.

Dongfeng and Charge+

Echoing this sentiment, Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, emphasised the company’s vision for a more EV-friendly future. “Our partnership with Dongfeng by Volt Auto is another significant step to encourage more Singaporeans to make the switch to EVs by alleviating any concerns about the availability of charging infrastructure. With our extensive and rapidly expanding charging network, Dongfeng customers can enjoy a seamless charging experience in Singapore and even across the region.”

Dongfeng Expands Into Southeast Asia With Commercial Truck Jakarta Debut https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=281020 Thu, 20 Feb 2025 13:22:43 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=281020 Dongfeng Motor Group just ticked off another milestone in its global expansion efforts with the grand inauguration of DongFeng Day 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The event, attended by over 100 industry representatives from across Southeast Asia served as a platform to reflect on the brand’s achievements in 2024, introduce its latest heavy-duty truck models, and outline its strategic direction for 2025.

The brand’s ambitions were on full display, with multiple exhibition zones showcasing its capabilities in port logistics, expressway operations, and mining applications.

Attendees got an up-close look at Dongfeng’s commercial vehicle lineup, which included tractors, dumpers, and key components like engines, transmissions, and wheel reduction axles.

A particular emphasis was placed on electric solutions, alongside its well-established traditional fuel-powered models, signalling a forward-thinking approach to the evolving demands of the commercial vehicle sector.

Dongfeng’s focus remains firmly on three pillars: reliability, intelligence, and trust. The company is on a mission to become the most dependable Chinese truck brand globally, with products tailored to the diverse requirements of the international market.

Speaking at the event, Ma Lei, Managing Director of China Dongfeng Motor Industry Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to an open and collaborative approach. “We will continue working hand in hand with local partners to drive business expansion and support the development of regional industries,” he said.

Similarly, Zhang Xiaofan, Deputy General Manager of the Dongfeng Motor Corporation Commercial Vehicle Department, underscored the company’s strength in product quality, intelligent networking, and automation.

With a growing focus on smart logistics ecosystems, Dongfeng is investing heavily in a robust sales and service network to provide seamless support for its customers worldwide.

The Southeast Asian market is a key growth engine for Dongfeng Truck, with Indonesia at the centre of its expansion plans. Yang Tao, Deputy Managing Director of China Dongfeng Motor Industry Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., outlined the company’s five-pronged approach to market growth: product development, service expansion, local manufacturing, financing solutions, and enhanced customer value.

The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of three new heavy-duty trucks. These are the Dongfeng GX, Dongfeng KC PRO, and Dongfeng KC PLUS.

These latest additions bring state-of-the-art technology, improved durability, and enhanced adaptability to the competitive trucking landscape, being able to be retrofitted to fit a large variety of industries.

Having introduced the GX, KC Plus, and KR platforms in the region, Dongfeng now offers a comprehensive lineup of high-end, medium, and mainstream commercial vehicles, available in both diesel and electric variants.

Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen local production capabilities, introduce more flexible financing options, and foster long-term partnerships with key stakeholders in the industry.

Dongfeng Truck has secured its position as a leading force in the commercial vehicle sector, finishing 2024 as the second-largest brand in the industry, with 385,400 units sold.

During the event, a series of cooperation agreements were also signed, reinforcing long-term business growth and sustainable transportation solutions.

A key pillar of Dongfeng’s expansion strategy is its “Overseas Service Priority” initiative. Recognising the critical role of after-sales support, the company has significantly expanded its service network in Indonesia, establishing 24 service outlets in 2024.

By the end of 2025, Dongfeng aims to increase this number to 64, ensuring that service centres are strategically located within 50 km of key trucking routes, covering 100% of Sumatra and Java.

Additionally, the company is committed to a 100% issue resolution rate within 72 hours and a 100% spare parts satisfaction guarantee.

“It’s all about trust,” Dongfeng’s leadership reiterated during the event. As the company charges forward into 2025, it remains focused on delivering high-quality products, fostering innovation, and pushing the boundaries of commercial vehicle excellence.

Dongfeng Box Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280428 Sun, 19 Jan 2025 18:46:20 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280428 The Dongfeng Box (also known as the Nammi 01) makes a compelling case for practical and affordable urban mobility.

With its approachable price point (as far as COE prices are concerned), surprisingly impressive range for its battery capacity, and other modern features, this five-door hatchback does reshape perceptions of entry-level EVs in our local automotive landscape.

It’s got a future-focused foundation

Built upon Dongfeng’s Quantum Architecture Platform 3, the Box is designed with compact dimensions.

At 4.03-metres in length, 1.81-metre in width, and 1.57-metre in height, it is well-proportioned for urban environments. A 2.66-metre wheelbase still provides ample legroom for passengers, proving that small stature does not equate to a cramped interior.

More importantly, its compact nature makes it ideal for Singapore’s dense traffic and tight parking spaces.

And it’s affordable too

One of the most significant advantages of the Dongfeng Box is its affordability. Priced at $138,888 inclusive of COE (at the time of this article), it undercuts many of its competitors in Singapore’s EV market.

While EVs have traditionally been positioned as premium alternatives, the Box does aid in democratising electric mobility, making it accessible to a broader audience.

At this price point, one might expect compromises in build quality or technology, yet Dongfeng has ensured that the Box does not feel like a budget offering.

With a striking design, inside and out

The Dongfeng Box invokes cuteness with a contemporary and eye-catching design. Its sealed grille, angular LED headlamps, and floating roofline contribute to a sleek and futuristic aesthetic, while flush door handles and sculpted bodywork enhance its aerodynamic efficiency.

Dongfeng offers the Box in five distinct colour combinations, including vibrant shades like Aurora Purple and Icy Blue (pictured here).

Step inside, and the Box continues to impress. The interior is available in three refined themes; Grey and Black, White and Black, and Purple and White, each paired with quilted upholstery and soft-touch materials that elevate the sense of comfort.

It’s worth noting, that the Purple option is reserved solely as a pairing for the Aurora Purple shade.

It is clear that Dongfeng has placed emphasis on quality, ensuring that the cabin feels well-appointed rather than austere.

A 5-inch LCD digital instrument cluster provides key driving information, while the centrepiece of the dashboard is a 12.8-inch floating infotainment display.

This system supports intelligent voice commands and offers over-the-air software updates plus wireless smartphone connectivity.

The inclusion of wireless phone charging and 32-colour ambient lighting further reinforces the Box’s premium aspirations.

The car motivates you too, with customisable slogans you can “frame” up on your digital display.

Despite its compact size, the Box offers a relatively spacious interior. Rear passengers benefit from ample legroom, and the flat floor design enhances comfort.

Cargo space is also respectable, with a 326-litre boot that can accommodate goods.

It’s not lightning-quick, but it is efficient

If you’re someone who wants an absurd amount of instant torque from your EV, look away.

For the rest of the sensible folk, the Dongfeng Box is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 70kW (94hp) and 160Nm of torque.

While these figures may not suggest exhilarating performance, the Box is designed for efficiency and ease of use rather than outright speed.

And thanks to it being an EV, the result is a smooth and responsive drive, ideal for city commutes. Even if you wanted to perform some overtakes, the car’s compact dimensions give it added nimbleness.

Body roll is manageable in corners, with the car mostly limited by its factory tyre compound. Although, the rear torsion beam suspension does send jolts should you go over any speed bump with too much enthusiasm.

Like its power output, the 42.3kWh battery doesn’t immediately scream range, but I was delighted to find that the Box is actually pretty efficient. My test drive garnered an impressive 10.5kWh/100km or 9.52km/kWh.

With a normal commute cycle, you can easily achieve 380-400km with it, allowing for extended urban use with fewer charging stops. Even if you do need to juice up, the car supports both DC and AC charging, replenishing its battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes using an adequately high-speed charger.

You’ll feel assured knowing it is safe

One of the commendable aspects of the Dongfeng Box is its safety suite. Unlike some budget EVs that skimp on driver assistance features, the Box is equipped with Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities.

This includes blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, intelligent adaptive cruise control, and autonomous parking assist.

Although the safety features can be overzealous at times due to our narrower roads, they aren’t as invasive or can be switched off although should you wish.

A small car with a big heart.

The Dongfeng Box is refreshing, offering a blend of affordability, modern features, and practicality. For urbanites looking to transition into the world of electric mobility, this compact hatchback makes a persuasive argument.

After all, going electric doesn’t have to be complicated.

DongFeng Box Arrives In Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=277702 Thu, 26 Sep 2024 15:43:30 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=277702 If you’re in the market for a new Cat A electric vehicle, here’s something fresh to consider: the Dongfeng Box.

Now available at $148,888 with COE, this five-door hatchback, brought to us by newcomer Volt Auto, is Dongfeng’s latest addition to the EV scene.

At 4,030mm long, the Dongfeng Box isn’t exactly what you’d call “large” but thanks to a wheelbase of 2,660mm, it promises a surprisingly spacious interior. Compact on the outside, roomy on the inside.

Available in five playful colour combos, you’ve got options to mix and match with the interiors too. But, the Purple and White interior in these pictures is exclusive to the Aurora Purple version.

Dongfeng Box

Step inside and it feels cute and whimsical. Soft-touch upholstery and quilted accents on the dashboard and door panels lend a premium feel to the cabin.

The driver’s seat even comes ventilated and there’s a well-thought-out design throughout.

One standout feature is clever storage, like a drawer-style compartment for the front passenger, a ‘floating’ centre console, and even large vanity mirrors that don’t feel like an afterthought.

At the heart of the tech setup is a 12.8-inch high-resolution infotainment display with Smart Phone Mirror Link, while a five-inch Interactive Driver Display serves as your digital instrument panel.

Dongfeng Box

For those hauling around their life’s necessities, the 326-litre boot expands to a solid 945 litres when you fold down the rear seats.

Safety isn’t an afterthought either. The Box comes equipped with the works: Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Road Traffic Sign Recognition.

Dongfeng Box

The Dongfeng Box is powered by a modest 94bhp electric motor delivering 160Nm of torque. Nothing too wild, but certainly enough to zip through urban traffic.

Its 42.3kWh lithium-ion battery claims an impressive range of 430km, which should ease that all-too-common “range anxiety.” And when it comes to charging, a 60kW DC charger will juice up the battery from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Dongfeng Box

According to a Volt Auto spokesperson, the Box is their only Dongfeng model for 2024, but more are expected to follow. In the meantime, the Box is certainly an intriguing starting point for this new player in the EV game.
