Food From The Heart – AutoApp Dev https://www.autoapp.sg/dev Fri, 07 Mar 2025 04:07:40 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9 Food from the Heart Third National Drive-Thru Surpasses Collection Target https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=281155 Fri, 07 Mar 2025 04:07:40 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=281155 With the support of 16 car and bike clubs and enthusiastic members of the public, over 260 vehicles streamed in and donated food items at Heart on Wheels 2025, organised by Food from the Heart.

In total, a record-breaking 33,300 food donations were received, surpassing the original target of 28,000 items.

Valued at nearly $125,000, these donations will go towards sustaining FFTH’s Community Food Pack and School Goodie Bag initiatives, bringing vital aid to an additional 3,500 lower-income households.

Among the many attendees rallying behind the cause was Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC (Queenstown), who, together with volunteers from Queenstown grassroots organisations, made a significant contribution of 1,000 kg of food (13,700 items).

Since its inception in 2023, Heart on Wheels has snowballed into a movement far greater than the sum of its parts. Over the past three years, it has accumulated 54,500 food items and $129,000 in donations.

“At its core, Heart on Wheels is about mobilising the community, particularly the automotive community, to take collective action. We’re deeply grateful to Wearnes Automotive, our corporate partners, and the many individuals who have stood by us. Their commitment to fighting food insecurity has helped to sustain this initiative, fostering a culture of community-driven giving that continues to grow stronger each year.”

Robin C. Lee, CEO of Food from the Heart

This year’s event was made even more impactful through the participation of brands under Wearnes Automotive, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Jaguar, Lotus, Polestar, Renault, and Volvo.

These esteemed marques not only contributed financially but also rallied their corporate networks, clients, and employees to take part in the initiative.

A notable highlight was Volvo, whose staff and clients went beyond donation by personally delivering School Goodie Bags to 50 students. Likewise, Planet Cooper, a dedicated community of Mini Cooper enthusiasts, reaffirmed its unwavering support, standing as one of the event’s most steadfast contributors since its inception.

Through such collaborations, Heart on Wheels continues to thrive, ensuring essential food supplies—including rice, canned meats, and cooking oil—are distributed through FFTH’s Community Food Pack programme and Community Shop network, directly benefitting families grappling with financial hardships.

According to a recent FFTH Community Shop survey, 78% of beneficiaries have felt the squeeze of rising living costs. This year, with the monthly per capita income benchmark revised from $690 to $800, FFTH aims to extend its support to 3,500 more households.

In 2023 alone, FFTH’s Community Food Pack programme provided assistance to almost 12,000 individuals and families each month, with 75% of beneficiaries reporting that the support helped alleviate their financial burdens. Additionally, the School Goodie Bag programme delivered much-needed aid to 1,680 students across 42 schools.

Looking ahead, FFTH plans to enhance the quality and nutritional value of its food aid by 2027, increasing support by $5 – $8 per household to provide more substantial and nutritious food assistance.

Food From The Heart’s “Heart On Wheels” Returns For 2025 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280968 Wed, 19 Feb 2025 09:13:18 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280968 Food From The Heart’s “Heart On Wheels” initiative is back for 2025, turning the act of giving into an effortless and engaging experience.

Set to take place on 1st and 2nd March 2025, from 9 AM to 6 PM at Wearnes, 45 Leng Kee Road, this drive-thru food donation event aims to collect 28,000 food items to support those in need.

Donors can simply drive up, pop the boot, and let volunteers take care of the rest.

How You Can Help

Heart On Wheels

Every contribution counts. Food From The Heart has curated a list of essential food items that are in high demand. Donors are encouraged to bring biscuits, bread spreads, canned meats like sardines, and tuna, as well as canned vegetables and cooking oil.

Other staple items needed include instant beverages such as cereal, coffee, and tea (with less sugar), instant noodles, Milo, oats, and rice (in 2 to 5 kg packs).

Keep in mind, all donated items must have at least three months of shelf life before expiry to ensure they can be distributed in a timely manner.

Can I Contribute Funds Instead?

Heart On Wheels

For those who may not have time to shop but still want to support the cause, Food From The Heart has also made it possible to donate digitally.

A simple scan of the QR code provided in the event materials allows donors to contribute funds directly, which will be used to purchase essential food supplies for beneficiaries.

Show Your Support

Heart On Wheels

Hunger and food insecurity remain pressing issues, even in a modern, developed society like Singapore. While many might assume that food aid is only required in extreme cases, the reality is that countless families, elderly individuals, and underprivileged communities rely on donations to get by.

If you’ve ever felt like you wanted to help but didn’t know how or didn’t have the time, this is your chance. A small effort on your part for Heart On Wheels (a grocery run, a few extra items in your shopping cart) could mean the world to someone else.

Heart On Wheels

Mark your calendars for 1st and 2nd March 2025, and take a drive down to Wearnes at 45 Leng Kee Road. Whether you arrive with a carload of donations or just a single bag of essentials, your contribution will be a step towards making Singapore a more caring and compassionate place.

Wearnes Is hosting an upcoming drive-thru food donation event https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=272158 Thu, 22 Feb 2024 18:29:44 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=272158 Food From The Heart and Wearnes are having a food donation drive at 45 Leng Kee Road on 2 and 3 March 2024. All are encouraged to show your support.

Fancy lending a hand, or rather, a heart on wheels? Wearnes Automotive is back hosting a 2024 Heart on Wheels initiative, and it’s all about spreading a bit of love and sustenance to those who need it most.

If you haven’t heard of Food from the Heart, it is a local charity that’s beating hunger with a kind touch, delivering a steady stream of food to those who could use a little extra help. Last year, they managed to help over 59,300 souls, distributing $7.23 million worth of food.

This time around, Wearnes is setting the bar high, aiming to collect 25,000 food items and drum up $150,000 in donations for the residents of Lengkok Bahru.

So, how can you chip in?

Swing by 45 Leng Kee Road on the 2nd or 3rd of March, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and bring along some goodies. Here’s what they are looking for:

  • Biscuits (those 200g – 500g packs are perfect)
  • Bread spreads
  • Canned meats
  • Cooking oil
  • Instant beverages & Noodles
  • Rice (Preferably in 1 to 2.5kg packets)

Can’t make it in person?

No worries. You can still sponsor a food bundle online. And since Food from the Heart has an IPC status, your generosity will also score some tax deductions. And because no good deed goes unnoticed, the first 200 cars to roll up with donations each day will get a little thank-you from McDonald’s Singapore.

Let’s show that when it comes to giving back, Singapore’s heart is as big as its spirit.
