GAC Singapore has officially opened its second showroom here, a move which helps mark the brand’s expansion and commitment to shaping the future of sustainable mobility in Singapore.

The new showroom is situated at the Punggol Digital District, which is Singapore’s first smart and sustainable business district, and GAC says that the location is a demonstration of GAC’s vision to be at the intersection of technology and mobility, where innovation meets sustainability.

GAC Punggol Digital District

“This new showroom is a reflection of GAC’s vision for intelligent mobility, where technology, design, and sustainability come together to create a smarter driving experience,” said Ernest Tan, Deputy CEO of VINCAR Group, the authorised distributor for GAC Singapore.

The opening of GAC’s new Punggol showroom strengthens the brand’s local presence, following the successful introduction of several new models over the past year, such as the GAC AION V and GAC HYPTEC HT.

GAC Punggol Digital District

The showroom’s Punggol location will give Singaporeans living in the northeastern part of the island a more convenient location to experience GAC’s growing lineup of electric vehicles. It will also serve as a hub for innovation and customer engagement, and bring GAC closer to a new generation of forward-thinking, environmentally conscious drivers.

“VINCAR Group has always been at the forefront of bringing global automotive innovation to Singapore,” added Mr Ernest Tan. “This milestone marks another stride in our mission to make electric mobility accessible, exciting, and meaningful to every driver.”

To celebrate the official opening of the showroom, GAC Singapore will have an exclusive Grand Opening event, which will feature test drives, EV tech showcases, and launch-day offers.

Aion V Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282469 Sun, 01 Jun 2025 06:52:00 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282469 If first impressions were everything, the Aion V would be the charming new neighbour who’s just moved in.

You might not know their backstory, but something about them tells you they’ve got a good head on their shoulders. That, in a nutshell, is Aion’s new all-electric SUV.

First Impressions Count

From the get-go, the Aion V makes its presence known. Unlike earlier models that wore the rather cryptic “G” emblem of parent company GAC, this one wears its name proudly.

Size-wise, the V sits comfortably in the mid-size SUV camp. At 4.6 metres long, it outstretches the BYD Atto 3, its direct rival. The design leans into that familiar Chinese EV playbook: squared-off wheel arches, a grille-less nose, and flush door handles that rise when beckoned.

Aion V

Chunky fenders, roof rails, and squinty LED DRLs give it just the right amount of rugged chic, giving the impression you could park it on the grass and it won’t look out of place.

Plush, Practical, and Then Some

Aion V cabin

Step inside, and the V quietly pulls the rug out from under its better-known rivals. There’s an unexpected richness to the cabin thanks to soft-touch materials from the dashboard to the doors, a hefty, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and seats that come with power adjustment, memory settings, ventilation, and massage.

Rear passengers aren’t forgotten either. The wheelbase measures a generous 2.75 metres, giving enough legroom for the lankiest among us. There’s even a sturdy fold-out table that’ll happily support a laptop or your late-night prata order.

There’s also a ‘snooze mode’, which is equal parts charming and clever. Activate it from the infotainment screen, and the front seats recline fully, the volume dips to a soft lull, and a chime wakes you gently when your kids’ tuition class ends.

Aion V fridge

Then there’s the quirkiness. Forget a glovebox, for that’s been swapped for a mini-fridge under the centre armrest, capable of both chilling to -15°C or warming to 50°C. Parents of young children will find it especially useful to keep a spare ration of warm milk.

The infotainment system is functional and intuitive, with key features pinned to the bottom of the touchscreen. Apple CarPlay requires a cable for now, but a wireless update is supposedly on the way.

Aion V boot

Storage-wise, the boot is sensibly square and can be expanded further by lowering the floor. Overall, practicality shines through in areas that matter.

Easygoing and Efficient

Aion V

The Singapore-spec delivers a modest 100kW (134bhp), in order to keep it safely tucked into Category A COE. It feels adequately sprightly for our roads, but does puff out slightly once you start to approach triple digits.

The suspension is tuned well for adverse road conditions, and the car’s insulation prevents the majority of external noise and vibrations from inhibiting your passengers.

Regenerative braking is adjustable, though it stops short of full one-pedal driving. The suite of safety systems is comprehensive: lane keep assist, driver monitoring, and adaptive cruise control that handles stop-and-go traffic gracefully. That said, some of the alerts veer into the overprotective nanny category. Thankfully, a few quick taps on the touchscreen tame the most intrusive ones.

Aion V rear lights

And while DC charging at up to 180kW is a huge plus, adding up to 300km in just 15 minutes if you find the right charger, AC charging tops out at a standard 6.6kW.

One gripe we had with the car was the inability to maintain a trip reading for the entire test drive; the trip computer resets every time you start the car.

However, with plenty of battery life left after an extensive test drive, we’d wager that the claimed 485km range isn’t too far-fetched.

Premium Feel, Mass Appeal

Aion V

The Aion V comes across as a thoughtfully engineered, almost premium-feeling SUV. It simply shows up with polish, purpose, and just enough personality to keep things interesting.

While some of its features feel whimsical and others overly ambitious, the whole package gels together surprisingly well.

For buyers looking for an EV that balances comfort, value, and quiet confidence (and who aren’t fussed about badges or badge snobbery), the Aion V is worth a long, thoughtful look.

GAC AION Extends Local Battery Warranty To 10 Years https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282032 Mon, 05 May 2025 18:30:01 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282032 In a world where EV technology is evolving at lightning speed, it’s all about trust. And GAC AION is more than ready to put its money where its motor is.

On 28 April 2025, GAC AION quietly made what could be one of the boldest moves in the local electric vehicle scene, announcing a free extension of its battery warranty from 8 to 10 years (or up to 200,000km) for all existing customers in Singapore.

No fine print. No registration forms.

“At GAC AION, customer trust is the foundation of our success,” said Ernest Tan, Deputy CEO of VINCAR Group. “This 10-year warranty upgrade reaffirms our belief in the exceptional quality, durability, and performance of our advanced EV battery technology.”

Let’s be honest. Warranty extensions usually come with caveats longer than your last WhatsApp chat. But not here.

If you bought a GAC AION vehicle in Singapore before 28 April 2025, you’re covered. That’s it. No calls to customer service, no hidden “activation” steps, just an automatic upgrade and peace of mind.

In an era when consumer loyalty is harder to earn than ever, this kind of gesture goes a long way.

For those not yet familiar, GAC AION is the electric arm of Guangzhou Automobile Group, a name long associated with giants like Honda and Toyota in China. In 2023 alone, it delivered over 480,000 EVs globally, making it the third-largest producer of battery electric vehicles in the world.

Closer to home, AION’s Singapore presence is handled by EV Hub, a member of VINCAR EV, the same group that brought in everything from Tesla Model Xs to Porsche Taycans in years past.

Why This Move Matters

A battery is the single most expensive component in an electric vehicle. It’s also the part most buyers quietly worry about, long after the showroom high has faded. Extending the warranty from 8 to 10 years allows them to stop worrying.

It also signals a shift in how brands like GAC AION are positioning themselves: not just as EV manufacturers, but as long-term partners in your electrified journey.

For those still sitting on the EV fence, this might just be the push they need.

GAC E9 PHEV Lands In Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=281478 Fri, 28 Mar 2025 10:10:31 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=281478 The GAC E9 is a refreshing new entrant in the premium MPV space, thanks to its plug-in hybrid configuration.

It was a Friday morning charged with more than just electricity when GAC officially pulled the covers off its all-new E9 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

This was also a new movement under the banner of ‘ONE GAC’. Spearheaded by EV Hub Pte Ltd, this unified strategy brings GAC, AION, and HYPTEC under one roof.

GAC E9

GAC E9

Visually, the E9 carries itself with the self-assured grace of a lion, literally. Inspired by the king of beasts, its front fascia is designed to evoke strength and nobility.

Its overall height is a carefully considered 1,823mm, which not only enhances aerodynamics but also improves ride stability.

GAC E9 seats

Pop open the doors and you’re welcomed into what GAC calls a “serene and peaceful mobile mansion.” Think semi-aniline leather so soft it feels like it came from cows that lived in a spa, and ultrasuede panels that would make a Bentley blush.

Rear passengers get ultra-long sliding rails (480mm in the second row and 220mm in the third), allowing you to tailor the cabin layout. And yes, massage functionality is included – three modes. Ten points.

GAC E9

Even the air-conditioning system has been engineered for elegance. GAC calls it “draft-free cooling”, which delivers that Goldilocks temperature without blasting arctic gales in your face.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with a robust electric motor and a clever two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. Combined, they produce 368bhp and 630Nm of torque, enough to propel this 2.4-tonne mansion from 0-100km/h in just 8.8 seconds.

The E9 also boasts an electric-only range of 106km. That’s enough to run your daily errands or commute without burning a drop of fuel. Plug it in at home overnight via AC (3.5 hours) or juice it up at a DC fast charger in just 30 minutes.

When you’ve got weekend plans, the E9’s hybrid system steps in to cover a whopping 1,032km total range. Fuel economy is equally impressive at 6.05L/100km.

The E9 rides on GAC’s GPMA platform, delivering five-star China NCAP safety credentials. It even has an industry-first third-row rear curtain airbag.

Add to that Level 2 autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control, and an intelligent parking system that can retrace its steps in reverse, and you’ve got a vehicle that’s as smart as it is safe.

With Electromagnetic Damping Suspension (EDS) and Adaptive Vehicle Dynamics Control (AVDC), the E9 adapts to every bump, bend, and braking moment in real time.

Whether you’re shuttling kids, entertaining clients, or embarking on a weekend escape, the E9’s multiple seating configurations make it versatile. There’s Personal Mode, Leader’s Vehicle Mode, Family Outing Mode… even Reception Assistant Mode for those corporate days when you need to impress from the second the sliding doors open.

GAC E9 boot

And for the road trip warriors, a cavernous boot awaits. In 7-seat mode, it swallows six suitcases with ease. Switch to 4-seat mode, and it might as well be a small warehouse on wheels.

The ‘ONE GAC’ Vision

As Mr Wang Shunsheng, Vice President of GAC International, explained during the event, “This strategy will focus on innovation, localisation, and customer experience to provide better products and services in Singapore.”

Mr Tong Wei, GAC’s Product General Manager, is equally confident. “With its class-leading driving range, top safety features, and first-class comfort, the E9 will win over Singaporeans searching for a premium travel experience.”

“The GAC E9 can be operated as a pure electric vehicle. On longer journeys, up to 1,032km can be achieved on a single tank of petrol. It offers a truly unique driving experience,” added Mr Ernest Tan, Deputy CEO of EV Hub.

Launch Promotion

From now until 9 April 2025, early birds who book the GAC E9 will enjoy a S$10,000 discount.
