Both models not only dazzled in the Lamborghini Lounge but also thrilled the crowds with their runs ‘up the hill’ in the Supercar and First Glance classes.

The one-off Revuelto showcased at Goodwood was from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam department, crafted to celebrate the brand’s presence at the festival. This bespoke Revuelto exemplifies Lamborghini’s potential for personalisation.

Draped in a grey Grigio Acheso with striking red Rosso Mimir pinstripes, this car is adorned with extensive lightweight carbon fibre on the bumpers, sills, and door fins. The black Nero Nemesis roof, matte black tailpipes, and black 22” rims plus red pinstripe detailing on the roofline, splitters, wing mirrors, and lower body parts complement the bold aesthetic.

Inside, the Revuelto mirrors its exterior with black Nero Ade upholstery, red Rosso Alala seat piping and stitching on the seats and door panels, and striking red seatbelts. Carbon fibre features prominently on the steering wheel and dashboard. This right-hand drive model is set to be delivered to a very lucky client in the UK.

Joining the Revuelto in the Supercar Paddock were a Huracán Tecnica, a Huracán EVO Spyder in a special Diablo 30th anniversary viola colour, and a Huracán Sterrato.

With the much-anticipated successor to the Huracán due to be unveiled later this year, the Festival of Speed offered a perfect stage for these V10 super sports cars to flaunt their iconic design and naturally aspirated engines on the iconic 1.86 km Goodwood hill run.

The Lamborghini Urus SE and Revuelto’s presence at Goodwood shows Lamborghini’s commitment to pioneering a new age of high-performance electrified vehicles.

Celebrating 30 Years of Speed With Porsche 75th Anniversary at Goodwood https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=266344 Sun, 06 Aug 2023 20:55:08 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=266344 Goodwood’s 30th anniversary of the Festival of Speed aptly coincides with Porsche celebrating the 75th anniversary of its very first sports car – the 356.

Porsche is celebrating their 75th Anniversary in 2023, and throughout the year thus far they have launched a myriad of events worldwide for fans around the world to revel in. Of course, with an anniversary as grand as this, the German marque would definitely make a splash at the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Porsche didn’t just provide any celebration; it was a full-throttle symphony of power, passion, and a whole lot of roaring metal.

A Parade of Legends and Legacy

Picture this: the sun kissing the asphalt, engines humming like a choir of harmonious beasts, and the smell of rubber hanging in the air like a tantalizing promise. That’s the scene at this year’s Festival of Speed, where Porsche took centre stage as the honoured marque. It’s like being handed the keys to a treasure trove of automotive history and heart-pounding performance.

From the iconic 917, driven by none other than the 1970 Le Mans champion Richard Attwood, to the cutting-edge 919 Hybrid, the hill came alive with the echoes of Porsche’s illustrious racing history. It’s a tribute to the past 75 years of speed, innovation, and the tireless pursuit of excellence.

And let’s not forget the legends themselves – Nick Tandy, Kévin Estre, Michael Christensen, and the legendary Mark Webber, all joining the celebration. It’s a star-studded cast that’s a testament to Porsche’s lasting impact on the world of racing.

This year’s Porsche parade included tons of iconic Porsches – the fearsomely powerful longtail 935/78 better known as Moby Dick, the 993 911, the iconic 911 GT1, the Le Mans winner 919 Hybrid, and of course the iconic 356, the car that started it all, among many others.

Krishan Bodhani, the driving force behind Porsche Cars Great Britain, summed it up perfectly: “We’re delighted that Goodwood gave us this brilliant opportunity to share our passion with enthusiasts, Porsche fans and owners here in the UK.”

And trust me, folks, Porsche and Goodwood go way back. The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, the maestro behind the Festival of Speed, knows it all too well: “Porsche has been one of our most loyal and enthusiastic partners, supporting the Festival of Speed since 1995, and the Revival since 2010.” That’s a partnership that’s been firing on all cylinders for quite some time.

From Classics to Cutting-Edge

Now, let’s talk metal. The hillclimb at Goodwood is like a racetrack on steroids, a place where legends are made and speed is the name of the game. Imagine the very first Porsche sports car, the iconic 1948 356 No 1, conquering that historic stretch of road. It’s like witnessing a piece of automotive folklore come to life, a true homage to where it all began.

But hold on, because we’re not just looking back – we’re peering into the future too. Feast your eyes on the sleek and powerful Porsche 718 Spyder RS, which made its global dynamic debut on the Goodwood hill. It’s a glimpse into what Porsche has in store, a tantalizing hint at the heart-pounding innovation that’s yet to come.

A Symphony of Design and Passion

It’s not just about the roar of engines and the rush of speed – Porsche brings art to life on the Goodwood grounds. Gerry Judah, the wizard behind the scenes, conjured up a bespoke steel sculpture that’s nothing short of breathtaking. This masterpiece, weighing in at a hefty 50 tonnes, is a tribute to Porsche’s 75-year journey. Six cars, each a symbol of Porsche’s evolution, soaring through the air in perfect harmony.

And let’s not forget the surprises that Porsche had up its sleeve. The Mission X concept is a hypercar straight out of a sci-fi dream, with Le Mans-style doors that open upward to the front and a powertrain that’s all about performance and efficiency.

But the real showstopper is the Vision 357 Speedster, an all-electric marvel that pays homage to the iconic 356.

An Automotive Wonderland

Now, if you thought this was just about cars on the track, think again. Porsche didn’t hold back in turning the Goodwood grounds into a playground of excitement. From the Porsche Classic showcase to a buzzing café and even a dedicated play area for the younger enthusiasts, it’s an automotive wonderland where everyone’s invited to join the party.

And speaking of parties, the festivities spilt beyond the Festival itself. Ever seen a 911 Carrera toy car being pushed around by a larger-than-life figure? That’s “Dream Big,” an art installation that captures the spirit of Porsche in a whimsical and larger-than-life way.

Curated by renowned artist Chris Labrooy, we’ve seen this installation in Singapore previously, and its great to catch it again on the grounds of Goodwood.

The Art Of Dreams

The Porsche 75th Anniversary at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was a journey through time, a celebration of innovation, and a testament to the power of passion. It’s a reminder that beyond the engines and the metal, it’s the stories, the art, and the camaraderie that make the automotive world truly extraordinary.

So, here’s to 75 years of Porsche excellence, to the roar of engines, and to the unbreakable bond between speed and the human spirit.

On The Ground: Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2023 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=266325 Sun, 06 Aug 2023 20:44:29 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=266325 The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a conglomerate of fast cars, smoky tyres, and the burning passions of motorsport fans worldwide.

Since I was a wee kid, I’ve always dreamt of visiting the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The live stream broadcasts kept me up for hours at a time, and I wanted to feel those cars rocketing up the hill in real life.

And this year, my dream came true.

A Symphony of Speed and Style

Now, here’s the thing about Goodwood – it’s like a magical alchemy of horsepower and history. Think of it as a massive playground for the world’s most revered and rare automobiles. No restrictions, no rules.

Imagine strolling through a sprawling estate in Chichester, West Sussex, rubbing shoulders with countless legends on wheels spanning human history. That’s the Festival of Speed for you. And this year, it was all about the dance between tradition and innovation.

For Porsche lovers, this one’s for you. The iconic marque celebrated a massive milestone – the 75th anniversary of its very first sports car – the iconic Porsche 356. And trust me, they didn’t just bring a cake to the party. No, they went all out with a jaw-dropping lawn sculpture that was nothing short of art. Six Porsches suspended in mid-air, each perched on the tips of beams like elegant ballerinas frozen in time. A gravity-defying ballet of horsepower.

And hey, I know the 911 is Porsche’s poster child, but take a stroll to Porsche Avenue and you’ll find a class that’s all about ‘Anything but the 911.’ It’s like Porsche saying, “Hey, we’ve got more in our garage than you think!”

Models from their history, each with its own tale to tell, stood proudly as a testament to Porsche’s legacy of excellence.

I don’t usually pick favourites, but the 917 has always been an eye candy of mine.

From Roaring Engines to Sky-High Dreams

Now, hold on to your driving gloves because we had a taste of the wild side too. Ever seen a NASCAR twist and turn its way through endurance racing? Well, Garage 56 made it happen. Fresh from the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race, these converted speed demons hit the hill in a symphony of tyre smoke and flaming exhausts. The roar of those engines could awaken sleeping giants – it was pure automotive poetry in motion.

And then there was that symphony of sound that only a Mazda 787B can deliver. If the hair on your arms didn’t stand on end at the sound of its four-rotor motor, you might want to check if you’re a robot. I stood behind the 787B when it was leaving the holding area, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gone rather deaf. Worth it? Of course.

Let’s not forget the wealth of specialised cars which were modified for different disciplines of racing. All-time legends such as Travis Pastrana and Mike Whiddett showcased their balls-to-the-wall machines, and put up an entertaining spectacle for the crowds as well!

Rain, Roar, and the Unstoppable Spirit of Speed

The weather? Let’s just say it was moody, as is the norm in the United Kingdom. A bit of sun-kissed Thursday goodness, followed by a Friday that seemed to bring every drop of rain from the heavens.

But. rain is no match for the resilience of true enthusiasts. Drivers revved their engines and hurled themselves up the hill, tyres biting into the wet tarmac, leaving trails of liquid adrenaline behind. And then, the winds – oh, those winds.

Mother Nature must’ve been feeling a bit mischievous because she decided to throw a real curveball at us. Those wild winds that could’ve blown your cap, and even caravans for that matter, straight into another county.

All these ingredients stirred up quite a storm, leading to something that hasn’t happened in Goodwood’s accredited history – the cancellation of Saturday’s action. Yeah, you heard me right. Everyone was bummed out, but it was a necessary step in ensuring the safety of everyone at the festival. Also, I’m selling my limited unused Saturday media pass. Any takers?

But you know what they say – after every storm, there’s a rainbow. Sunday rolled in, and with it, the festival came back to life. Adrenaline junkies and car aficionados revelled in the symphony of engines and the aroma of burning rubber. Sure, we missed out on some Sunday morning rally action, but a stroll through the Supercar Paddock more than made up for it.

Rain or shine, this festival had an aura of chaos and charm that was hard to resist. If you’re wondering whether this year’s turnout was bigger than a blockbuster movie premiere, you’re absolutely right.

Whether it was more tickets sold or just folks flocking to specific hotspots, I can’t say for sure. But let me tell you, getting a spot anywhere that wasn’t media-specific was like squeezing into a Tokyo subway at rush hour.

The Unforgettable Goodwood Experience

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is like stepping into a dream. It’s akin to a candy store for car enthusiasts, a sensory overload that leaves you gasping for more. With every corner turned, you’re met with a new automotive masterpiece, a piece of history or a glimpse of the future.

Now, if you’re lucky enough to find yourself heading to this horsepower extravaganza in the future, here’s my advice: plan your journey, but leave room for surprises.

Timetables, maps, and all those fancy guides are there to help, but sometimes, the best moments are the ones you stumble upon. So, gear up, embrace the chaos, and let the symphony of speed sweep you off your feet.

Because rain or shine, cancellation or full-throttle action, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the best days out you can have.

On The Ground: Formula 1 Stars At Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2023 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=266300 Sun, 06 Aug 2023 20:28:24 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=266300 Vettel, Schumacher, Hakkinen and many others delivered a spectacular Formula 1 show on the famous Goodwood hill.

If you aren’t living under a rock, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed is a place where anything goes. You could rock up in literally anything that moves, and it can turn into a spectacle for the crowds to enjoy.

This hallowed ground is also where past and present of Formula 1 legends collide in a symphony of roaring engines. This year’s event was no exception, and we were treated to a wonderful sight.

So, grab a cup of your preferred horsepower-infused beverage, settle in, and let’s relive the magic.

Sebastian Vettel: A Champion Among Us

If there’s one name that echoed through the Goodwood air like a sweet melody, it was none other than the four-time F1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel.

A crowd magnet wherever he treads, with an aura of anticipation as he prepared to step into history. And step he did, into the embrace of two remarkable machines from his personal collection – the ex-Nigel Mansell Williams FW14B and the ex-Ayrton Senna McLaren MP4/8.

These beasts weren’t just running on ordinary fuel. These babies were running on sustainable fuels, a nod to the future and a dance between power and responsibility.

Vettel wasn’t just revving the engines; he was igniting a vision, showing the world that great cars like these can still be enjoyed with respect to mother earth.

Mick Schumacher: A Tribute to Legacy

Mick Schumacher, a rising star in his own right, sharing the tarmac with none other than Esteban Gutierrez.

Together, they embarked on a journey through time, a homage to Mick’s legendary father, the seven-time champion Michael Schumacher.

The vessel? The iconic W02, a time capsule from his dad from the 2011 season. It’s like a page torn from the annals of racing history, a son paying tribute to a titan, the roar of engines carrying a legacy forward. “Mick, you can do the donuts now.”

Seeing him dress up just like his father would invoke a few tears, no?

Mika Hakkinen: A Roar from Yesteryears

Mika Hakkinen, the Flying Finn himself, stepped back into a time machine – his own McLaren MP4/14. This was the machine that carried him to five race victories and his second world championship in the unforgettable year of 1999.

Can you feel it? The rush of memories, the echoes of triumph, all woven into the fabric of that iconic car. It’s a moment that tugs at the heartstrings, a reunion of man and machine.

Oscar Piastri: A Glimpse of McLaren’s Past

As the engines sang their symphony, another young contender entered the stage. Oscar Piastri, a current McLaren racer, found himself immersed in the legacy of the Woking team.

Classic F1 creations surrounded him in the Goodwood paddock, each a chapter in the McLaren saga. And then, the hill beckoned, a chance for Piastri to add his own verse to the story.

He took James Hunt’s iconic M26 for a spin; it’s like witnessing the torch being passed from one generation to the next, a bridge connecting the past and the promise of the future.

Alexander Albon: Putting On A Show

But wait, there’s more – the race-winning Williams FW08C, a machine that carried Keke Rosberg to championship glory in 1982. And who’s at the helm, you ask? None other than Alexander Albon; the man who knows how to make an entrance.

The Goodwood crowd was treated to a performance that sent ripples through time, a tribute to a golden era of racing. And in the midst of this symphony, a familiar face emerged – Jenson Button, the embodiment of speed and charisma.

When he was not piloting the Garage 56 NASCAR, he also took the wheel of an FW08C, a grin on his face and memories swirling around him. It’s like watching a maestro return to his stage, a reminder that the love for speed transcends time.

Legends Galore: A Grand Prix Spectacle

Ferrari, a name synonymous with speed, joined the party, bringing with them a cavalcade of Grand Prix machines that spanned the ages. The one pictured above is Kimi Raikkonen’s old steed.

So, there you have it, a Sunday at Goodwood that was nothing short of spectacular. Formula 1 legends and their magnificent machines, weaving a tapestry of power, passion, and history. As the engines fade into echoes and the cheers of the crowd linger in the air, we’re left with a reminder that the spirit of racing is timeless.
