Maxus – AutoApp Dev https://www.autoapp.sg/dev Sat, 26 Jul 2025 05:38:39 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9 Maxus MIFA 7 Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=283051 Sat, 26 Jul 2025 05:38:39 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=283051 Now, in the wallet-friendly Category A COE bracket, the Maxus MIFA 7 stands out in its own class of MPVs.

We last reviewed the Maxus Mifa 7 earlier this year. Its practicality and sensible pricing were key attributes in its attractiveness, and now Maxus has introduced yet another cheaper variant. One that falls under Category A of the COE ladder.

But, is the reduction of power a dealbreaker for the practical family man navigating Singapore’s urban landscape?

Just Enough Power

Maxus MIFA 7

This new variant keeps the spaciousness and plush features of its Cat B sibling but recalibrates its electric motor to 108kW. Crucially, torque figures (350Nm) remain the same, offering just enough power to keep up with traffic. You will feel its heft with a full load of passengers, but with a full posse in tow, you wouldn’t want to speed anyway.

The suspension is tuned for comfort, gliding smoothly over most surfaces. Third row  passengers will especially feel a difference, as the rear wheels are fitted with multi-link rods.

Maxus MIFA 7

However, show it a road with more undulations or go over a sharp bump quickly, and you’ll feel a bit of bounce. That said, this is hardly a dealbreaker in an MPV designed for family comfort, not Nürburgring laps.

Still The Right Size

Maxus MIFA 7

The MIFA 7 is pretty much the maximum size you would want an MPV to be before it starts getting annoying. It’s a better fit for our roads and parking structures compared to other rivals, being much easier to manoeuvre through tight HDB car parks and narrow streets.

But don’t mistake “smaller” for “less commanding.” The MIFA 7’s design ensures it still holds its own on the road. Its 1.75m height also means it won’t be dwarfed by opposing SUVs either.

Spacious And Smart

Maxus MIFA 7 second row

Speaking of height, the MIFA 7 shows its true strength on the inside. There’s room for everyone; slide the second row forward a little, and you’ll find plenty of head and legroom for six adults.

Maxus MIFA 7 front
Maxus MIFA 7 third row

The third row is spacious enough to accommodate an adolescent or two in comfort, and the seats feels just right in terms of width and height. For those needing extra help, grab handles and a wide step make entering the second row easier.

Mifa 7 boot

Even with all seats up, the rear boot offers 270 litres of usable space, enough for groceries, school bags, or a baby stroller.

Maxus MIFA 7

For the elderly or young children, the MIFA 7’s low 152mm ground clearance also makes getting in and out a breeze. The large sliding doors are an instant advantage over compact MPVs in this segment.

The Practical Choice

The Maxus MIFA 7 finds its niche in offering a balanced, value-packed MPV experience. It’s neither too large nor too cramped, with just the right amount of practicality for Singapore’s roads.

There really isn’t another vehicle like this on the market now (at the time of writing). Coupled with its attractive pricing, you wouldn’t need to shop elsewhere too.

Maxus MIFA 7 Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=279967 Sat, 14 Dec 2024 02:30:32 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=279967 The Maxus MIFA 7 joins its bigger MIFA 9 sibling in the MPV arena.

It’s been over a year since we had our first encounter with the Maxus MIFA 9, a towering presence in the MPV world.

Now, Maxus has introduced its younger sibling, the MIFA 7. This all-electric MPV promises to deliver a balanced blend of size, comfort, and value.

Perfect then, for the practical family man navigating Singapore’s urban landscape.

Its Size Is Just Right

Maxus MIFA 7

The MIFA 7 strikes a harmonious balance in size, making it a better fit for our roads and parking structures compared to its larger predecessor.

It’s shorter than a BMW 5 Series, making it much easier to manoeuvre through tight HDB car parks and narrow streets.

But don’t mistake “smaller” for “less commanding.” The MIFA 7’s bold design ensures it still holds its own on the road. Its 1.75m height also means it won’t be dwarfed by SUVs either.

Comfortably Spacious, Smartly Designed

Step inside, and the MIFA 7 shows its true strength – space. There’s room for everyone; slide the second row forward a little, and you’ll find plenty of knee and legroom for six adults. That said, the third row is best reserved for shorter journeys or smaller occupants.

The seating height feels just right. For those needing extra help, grab handles and a wide step make entering the second row easier.

The driver gets a 12.3-inch Infotainment Display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Tunes are blasted from an 8-speaker JBL Sound System, delivering crisp beats for all occupants.

Smooth Operator

The MIFA 7’s 241bhp electric motor (the same one found in the MIFA 9) offers enough power to keep up with traffic. It’s not sporty by any means, but the instant torque makes driving an MPV more engaging.

The suspension is tuned for comfort, gliding smoothly over most surfaces. However, show it a road with more undulations, and you’ll feel a bit of bounce. That said, this is hardly a dealbreaker in an MPV designed for family comfort, not Nürburgring laps.

During my test, I managed to average 20.7kWh/100km, which is pretty much bang on what Maxus claims the MIFA 7 can achieve. On a full charge, you’ll be looking at 400-450km of range.

Decent Price To Boot

At $232,999 (at the time of writing), the MIFA 7 undercuts many of its larger MPV rivals.

There are, however, some trade-offs. The Luxury trim of the MIFA 7 lacks certain premium features like electrically adjustable and ventilated second-row seats—features available in the Premium’ trim for just $5,000 more.

If second-row passengers are a priority, it might be worth considering the upgrade.

A Practical Choice for Families

Maxus MIFA 7

The Maxus MIFA 7 finds its niche in offering a balanced, value-packed MPV experience. It’s neither too large nor too cramped, with just the right amount of performance and practicality for Singapore’s roads.

If you’re in the market for a family vehicle that doesn’t break the bank, provides the benefits of electric driving, and still turns heads at school drop-offs, the MIFA 7 deserves your attention.

Maxus Launches New MIFA 7 In Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=276999 Thu, 29 Aug 2024 09:11:21 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=276999 Cycle & Carriage and Maxus have just launched the new Maxus MIFA 7 in Singapore.

The Maxus MIFA 7 takes family travel to a new level of comfort. With seating for up to seven passengers, this MPV offers an expansive interior.

One of the standout features is the large panoramic sunroof, which measures 1.1 square meters, flooding the cabin with natural light.

The MIFA 7 also boasts 45 storage spaces throughout the vehicle, ensuring that passengers in all three rows have ample room to store their belongings.

Accessing the cabin is via dual power sliding doors. Once inside, passengers will appreciate the second-row captain’s chairs, which offer an extensive range of adjustments. With best-in-class headroom of 1.2 meters, children can stand and move between rows freely when the vehicle is stationary.

The flat floor design ensures that both the second and third rows are equally comfortable. Even the often-overlooked third row offers impressive space, thanks to a compact rear suspension design that frees up an additional 100 mm, making these seats generous enough to comfortably accommodate three passengers.

The cabin is further enhanced by luxurious leather upholstery.

The front-end features a minimalist yet striking look, with split headlamps and dual-colour daytime running lights that double as turn signals.

Measuring 4,910 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,756 mm in height, it’s easy to navigate through tight city streets and fit into standard parking spaces.

Under the hood, the MIFA 7 is powered by the innovative “One Pack” traction battery, developed by SAIC and CATL. With a capacity of 90 kWh, this battery offers the highest energy density in its class, providing a best-in-class range of 480 km on a single charge.

The electric motor delivers 180kW (241bhp) and 350Nm of torque to the front wheels. The century sprint is completed in 9.0 seconds and the car can reach a top speed of 180km/h.

Using a DC charger, the vehicle can recharge from 5% to 80% in just 40 minutes. For those using an AC charger, the MIFA 7 charges at a rate of 11 kW, reaching 80% in 8 hours and 30 minutes.

Safety is a top priority with the Maxus MIFA 7, which comes equipped with 21 active safety, passive safety, and driver assistance systems. The vehicle features multiple airbags (driver, front passenger, curtain, and side airbags) ensuring full protection in the event of a serious collision.

The MIFA 7 also includes advanced driver assistance systems like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control, making highway driving less stressful. The 360° Panoramic Camera and Rear Cross Traffic Alert enhance safety during parking and reversing.

“Maxus designed the MIFA 7 with the modern family in mind, ensuring that every journey is as comfortable as possible,” said Dawn Pan, Chief Operating Officer, Multi-franchise Operations at Cycle & Carriage Singapore.

“Whether it’s an outing to the mall or a long road trip, the MIFA 7 provides the space, convenience, and comfort that families need.”

The MIFA 7 is available in two variants: Luxury and Premium.

The Luxury variant features leather seats, an electric driver’s seat, an 8-speaker JBL sound system, and dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment. The Premium variant adds Nappa leather seats, a memory function for the driver’s seat and mirrors, and ventilated front passenger seats.

Priced from S$223,999 for the Luxury trim and S$228,999 for the Premium version (both with COE), the Maxus MIFA 7 is now available for viewing and test drives at the Cycle & Carriage Maxus Showroom at 239 Alexandra Road.

ACOTY 2024 – Overall Best MPV https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=270006 Wed, 06 Dec 2023 10:43:34 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=270006 Two great MPVs that won in Round 1 slug it out in a fight to claim the title of Overall Best MPV.

How Does ACOTY Define This Class?

Price, COE category and powertrain notwithstanding, the Overall Best MPV is chosen from the multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) that won in Round 1. Check out their respective Round 1 awards below.

Meet The Contenders

Toyota Sienta Hybrid

The Toyota Sienta Hybrid feels like more car for the money. Coupled with its excellent fuel economy and the fact that it can transport up to seven people at a go won it the Best Cat A MPV in Round 1.

MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury

MAXUS’ first overseas mode, the MIFA 9 Luxury, appeals to us by being very well-equipped and able to put in a surprising turn in the twisty stuff while remaining quiet, comfortable, refined and composed.

We also like how the MIFA 9 looks unique and interesting in a segment of vehicles that are essentially large boxes on wheels. Finally, the MIFA 9’s enormous proportions translate to how much space is liberated inside, which is why it won Best MPV EV in Round 1.

So who won?

Two excellent Round 1 winners in their respective categories, but only one can come out on top.

Where the points tally in Round 1 was the final determinant of each category’s winner, here in Round 2, points are taken into consideration but are not the final arbiter of victory.

AutoApp Car Of The Year Overall Best MPV
MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury

MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury32661
Toyota Sienta Hybrid33525

Let’s face it. In the world of MPVs, size does matter, and the MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury has lots of it. Add to that its premium features and ride comfort and it’s not difficult to see why it won.

More on the scoring categories used to derive points in Round 1 here.

Congratulations to the MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury for winning the AutoApp Car of the Year 2024 Overall Best MPV!

Maxus eDeliver 9 Launched https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=267609 Tue, 19 Sep 2023 08:04:26 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=267609 The eDeliver 9 electric van is now available for purchase.

Need a high-top panel van to cart taller, more bulky cargo around while going fully electric? Well, Maxus has you covered there with the eDeliver 9 fully-electric van, now available for purchase through authorised dealer Cycle & Carriage.

Both rear doors of this electric van swing open 180-degrees to reveal a cargo compartment of 9.7 cubic metres that’s capable of hauling 1,000kg of cargo.

Featuring a high cabin ceiling measuring 1.792-metres from cargo bed to roof, most folks can stand upright within the van’s cargo compartment during loading and unloading operations, going a long way toward aiding one’s well-being.

Furthermore, sensitive shipments can be placed upright instead of laid out across the bed, so cargo can be delivered to customers safe and sound.

Its high roofline also means that the eDeliver 9 can be configured for other functions, such as an ambulance or a mobile office for on-location media coverage or maintenance operations.

Add to that large sliding doors on each side and this van becomes truly versatile as a mobile operations base.

Carting cargo around requires good shove, and the eDeliver 9 ermmmm delivers with 201hp and 310Nm of torque, powered by a 72kWh battery pack that’s said to go from 20-80% charge in just 36 minutes at a DC charging station that delivers at least 72kWh of charge.

At a claimed 31kWh/100km or 3.23km/kWh, range from the battery pack is around 230km on a full charge. Not bad considering this electric van weighs 2,500kg unladen and 3,500kg fully loaded.

Up front, the driver’s cabin is spacious and offers seating for two passengers. Also included are driver aids like Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Lane Change Assist, front and rear sensors to make manoeuvring in tight spaces easier, and auto emergency braking to avoid pile-ups on highways during rush hour.

The Maxus eDeliver 9 is available at $93,999 excluding COE and CVES grant (price accurate at the time of this article.) Contact Cycle & Carriage for more information.

MAXUS MIFA 9 Luxury – Passengers’ Paradise https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=267200 Mon, 04 Sep 2023 03:43:37 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=267200 Passengers get to ride on Cloud 9 with the MIFA 9.

The MAXUS MIFA 9 is SAIC Motor‘s first export model out of China. Interesting, then, that a seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was chosen to represent the company’s maiden overseas foray – probably due in no small part to the success of the likes of Toyota’s upmarket Alphard and Velfire MPVs.

There’s only one realistic electric vehicle (EV) MPV competitor in Singapore’s market, and that is the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 at nearly $166,000 more.

In comparison, the MIFA 9 looks like a relative bargain next to the Merc.

Massive Proportions

At 5,270mm length and 2,000mm width, the MIFA 9 is notably longer and wider than the latest-generation Toyota Alphard. While its 1,840mm height is slightly shorter than the latter, meaning multistorey HDB carparks are a cinch to get into, expect the MIFA 9 to take up every bit of a parking spot and look absolutely imposing while doing so, especially in the test vehicle’s sinister crimson hue called Dynasty Red.

open the bonnet…
…to reveal a small frunk/froot
19-inch rims wear 235/55R19 Continental EcoContact 6 tyres

Things are still massive round the back. Slab-sidedness gives way to interesting design details on the tailgate, and the LED taillight arrangement also helps break up what is essentially a tall and wide flat panel.

All Aboard!

In seven-seat configuration, the boot is said to be able to accommodate up to four large suitcases stood upright.

The rearmost seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split to take on more luggage while still being able to seat five or six passengers respectively.

Curiously, MAXUS doesn’t quote an actual number for the boot space, but it does look rather large.

Sitting three across in the back is relatively easy, with this last row getting cupholders in the armrests and aircon vents on either side.

However, the centre row is where premium travel happens. Two captain’s chairs with seat heating, ventilation and massage cocoon their occupants in great comfort for that quintessential airport transfer to the hotel after a long flight or vice-versa.

They’re electrically adjustable, and legroom is certainly generous back here, even with the driver’s seat set pretty much all the way back and some ways up to accommodate my longer-of-limbs and shorter-of-torso 1.82-metre tall frame.

There are aircon controls just above the front seats for the rear of the MIFA 9. A large panoramic sunroof lets natural light in to lift the airiness of the cabin back here so that the executive occupants do not feel restricted in any way.

cupholders & USB outlets
electric adjustments with heating, cooling & massage
220-volt socket, needs adapter

In this Luxury variant, the front seats don’t feature cooling and massage functions, but we’re told that a Premium version is on the way that offers those.

No matter though, for these seats are pretty much as cosseting as those in the second row, and are easily adjusted electrically to one’s preference.

Where things start to show some cracks is with the software. For example, two very welcome features, namely adaptive cruise control and ‘Super Cruise,’ are available by flicking the drive lever down once and twice respectively, with the latter autonomously steering the MIFA 9 with a light touch on the steering wheel.

However there’s no way to pause these functions without stepping on the brake. The ‘Res’ or resume function also did not work during my drive, necessitating the drive lever to be flicked down again to re-enable adaptive cruise, and the ‘+’ or ‘-‘ buttons to be pressed to adjust the desired cruising speed.

The set-speed indicator on the top-right of the instrument screen is also very small and difficult to read.

drive lever, and activation for adaptive cruise & Super Cruise
8-speaker JBL sound system
wing mirror controls & window switches
tailgate open/close button
driver-attention monitoring camera

After certain assist systems are turned off, they’re turned back on during the next restart. Perhaps it would be better to have these settings remember their previous state, so each driver can have their own customisability.

Same goes for the regenerative braking or regen, which defaults to ‘High’ every time the doors are locked and unlocked. A shortcut for regen settings in the pull-down menu on the infotainment screen would also be appreciated.

infotainment features Apple CarPlay, and screen-mirroring via QDLink for Android devices; most car functions are controlled via the touchscreen
aircon is powerful!
USB Type-A ports for connectivity & charging
non-charging phone pad for wired connectivity
wireless charging pad, cupholders
overhead lights, hazard signal & SOS buttons

Don’t get me wrong, the user interface or UI is mostly great! It’s the user experience or UX that needs some additional work.

Thankfully, and most likely, these are software issues that can be rather easily fixed. That said, considering this is MAXUS’ maiden export model, their first attempt has to be commended.

Smooth Sailing

Even though it’s not fitted with air suspension, the MIFA 9 glides down roads and highways as though it is – it is THAT comfortable!

However, one would be mistaken to think that this MPV is a land yacht, for it can also take corners smartly and even power out of them, much to the surprise of yours truly and other drivers. The chassis engineers at MAXUS responsible for how this MPV is set up to drive and ride deserve an award.

The MIFA 9 cruises quietly as well, being an EV. Its Continental EcoContact 6 tyres do a good job of remaining silent over all but the coarsest of tarmac, adding to the comfort factor of this MPV. A teeny tiny bit of wind noise was noticed creeping in through the upper seals on the driver’s door, but with one’s favourite tunes playing through the JBL sound system, this is a non-issue.

The view out from inside the cabin is good and head-checks are pretty easy, assisted by the blind spot monitoring system to ensure other vehicles are not alongside when filtering lanes.

Parking is also made easy thanks to the 360-degree camera system with parking sensors, and one must rely on the on-screen image to make sure one is properly parked due to the MIFA 9’s aforementioned dimensions. One quirk here is that the audio system is muted while reversing, instead of the playing track being paused, which means the current song picks up further down the track than one would expect.

Propelling the MIFA 9 is a single electric motor driving the front wheels while putting down 241hp and 350Nm of torque. That sounds like a lot for an MPV, but taking its 2.4-ton weight into consideration, acceleration is brisk rather than alarmingly quick with the 0-100km/h sprint being dispatched in a claimed 9.2 seconds.

Contributing to its weight and the aforementioned corner-stability is a massive 90kWh battery pack that’s mounted low down in the chassis, thereby lowering the MIFA 9’s centre of gravity. The battery pack can be charged at a maximum of 11kW on AC and 120kW on DC, with MAXUS quoting a 20-80% charge time of 25 minutes at a 120kW DC charger.

My own experience at a 100kW DC charger saw charging start at 26% battery level. 57.2kWh of electricity was then added in 54 minutes, with the MPV’s battery management system quoting 1 hour 9 minutes to take the battery from 30% to a full charge.

at the start of charging
charging well underway

What about energy consumption while out and about then? MAXUS doesn’t actually quote a combined consumption figure, but they do claim a WLTP range of 435km from the 90kWh battery pack. This essentially means 20.7kWh/100km or 4.83km/kWh, which I was able to slightly better at 19.8kWh/100km or 5km/kWh over a test-driven 557km. Naturally, how and where the MIFA 9 is driven will determine the actual consumption one manages to achieve, but the remaining-range indicator on the instrument screen is accurate and can be trusted.

Limousine-service operators looking to move away from internal combustion to EVs would do well to give the MIFA 9 a good look. Is that a negative for private customers? Not at all! Let’s put it this way: if a limo company chooses the MIFA 9 to transport executives and VIPs around in comfort and luxury, that’s saying something isn’t it? Add to that the five-year or 100,000km bumper to bumper warranty AND the eight-year or 200,000km battery warranty (with the “whichever comes first” proviso), and you’re looking at many miles of worry-free motoring.

The MIFA 9 is promising for sure and a very good first export-model by SAIC Motors. If one demands the same accoutrements for the front seats that are present in the middle row, hold off for the highest spec variant but also expect to pay a premium for the Premium.

Maxus MIFA 9 is set to change the MPV game in Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=265338 Sat, 08 Jul 2023 09:19:45 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=265338 The Alphard-sized EV promises premium comfort and features.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) now seem to come in all shapes and sizes. However, if you want an EV that seats more than five occupants, your options are pretty much limited to models built on commercial van platforms. Examples include the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300, and the Opel Zafira-e Life.

Those accustomed to the car-like drivability of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) such as the Honda Odyssey or Toyota Alphard for example, may find the aforementioned EV people movers a little unwieldy in tight parking spaces and not as refined as a sedan at expressway speeds.

This is set to change however with the launch of the Maxus MIFA 9. Built on a passenger car rather than a commercial vehicle platform, the MIFA 9 is designed to be a premium electric MPV.

The next big thing

If size matters to you, the MIFA 9 has impressive dimensions. This EV measures an impressive 5,300mm in length, 2,000mm in width, and stands tall at 1,840mm. Put into context, it is even larger than the renowned Toyota Alphard in most dimensions, boasting a generous 3200mm wheelbase, a whopping 200mm more than its Japanese counterpart.

Stepping inside the MIFA 9, you’ll immediately notice a significant leap in material quality. The interior exudes a sense of luxury.

Passengers in the middle row, for example, are treated to electrically-adjustable captain’s chairs with heated and cooling ventilation. Aural entertainment comes by way of an 8-speaker JBL system.

The digital dashboard, however, steals the show, featuring a 7-inch instrument display that provides all the essential information at your fingertips. The centrepiece of the cockpit is a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seamless connectivity? Check.

And if you’re in need of a power boost for your mobile devices, the MIFA 9 comes equipped with a generous number of USB outlets scattered throughout the cabin. Front occupants, on the other hand, can revel in the convenience of a wireless mobile device charger. It’s the little things that make a difference, right?

Range, power and charging

Equipped with a 90kWh battery, it boasts an impressive travel range of 435km, ensuring you can embark on long journeys without worrying about running out of juice. And if time is of the essence, the MIFA 9 supports fast charging, allowing you to top up the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in a mere 30 minutes. For a full charge from 5 to 100 per cent using an 11kWh AC charger, it takes approximately 8.5 hours.

What about the powerhouse?

Powering its front wheels is a motor churning out 180kW (245hp) and 350Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 9.2 seconds. And if you’re craving a taste of adrenaline, it can reach a top speed of 180km/h.

Apparently an acronym for Maximum, Intelligent, Friendly and Artistic, the MIFA 9 was unveiled to the media on 7 July by the official dealer, Cycle & Carriage, the China-made MPV is priced at $282,999 with COE.

In the coming months, a higher-spec’d version will be on sale for $302,999 with COE. Additional equipment on the latter is said to include a flip-down entertainment screen for the rear seated passengers and Nappa leather are among the highlights.
