Harley-Davidson is calling on all riders (Harley-Davidson owners, H.O.G. chapters, dealers and new enthusiasts alike) to join the ride and celebrate “United We Ride – National Harley Day” in Singapore on September 6, 2025.

The regional event will be a celebration of Harley-Davidson’s “United We Ride” ethos, which encapsulates the camaraderie, thrill of the open road, and the shared passion that unites the Harley-Davidson community.

The event will also have a meaningful charity component in aid of Helmet Heroes Thailand. For 2025, Harley-Davidson AEM has partnered Helmet Heroes to celebrate United We Ride across nine markets, including Singapore.

Every mile ridden will help raise awareness for child road safety and contribute funds towards providing helmets catered to children aged six and above across Thailand.

In a market where motorcycles are the main mode of transport due to accessibility and affordability, access to helmets and safety practices is paramount.  Riders across the region can make donations any time through the official event website or during registration.

Whether riding solo or rolling in with a crew or fellow Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) members, all are welcome to register at your nearest dealer and tap into the power of community to help make a difference.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the bike. It’s about the ride. The road. The roaring brotherhood.

KTM Powers Forward With New Investment https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282392 Tue, 27 May 2025 16:07:35 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282392 KTM AG, the iconic Austrian motorcycle brand, has just secured a strategic lifeline worth €600 million.

After what insiders describe as months of tireless planning and meticulous negotiation, KTM has emerged not just with a fresh boost of capital, but with renewed vigour.

“Today we have been given the opportunity to continue the history of KTM,” said CEO Gottfried Neumeister. “Together with our long-standing partner Bajaj, we were able to work out a strategy that will enable us to raise a further 600 million euros for our new start, in addition to the 200 million euros already made available.”

KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister

That’s €800 million total for those counting. In an age where many manufacturers are quick to offshore their roots in pursuit of margins, KTM is keeping its soul intact. Neumeister was quick to underline that the Mattighofen and Munderfing sites, essentially KTM’s spiritual home, will remain central to its future operations and will not be going away.

“These sites will remain the basis for our future success. This means that we will continue to be an important employer for the entire region,” he said.

Of course, no KTM story is complete without acknowledging the man who helped build it from the ground up. Stefan Pierer, whose name is synonymous with KTM’s meteoric rise from a niche European manufacturer to a global powerhouse, is being remembered not as a chapter, but as the book’s foundation. “He laid the foundation for one of the world’s best-known motorcycle brands, which has a unique community,” Neumeister said.

With fresh funding in hand and a strategic partner with serious global reach, KTM is now poised to carve out its next legacy. Whether it’s Dakar wins, urban mobility innovations, or new electric platforms, this orange beast is nowhere near done.

CFMOTO Revvs Up in Singapore with 675SR-R and 800MT-X https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282368 Tue, 27 May 2025 08:36:07 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282368 CFMOTO Singapore has just unveiled their spanking-new showroom along Ubi Road 1, and launched the 675SR-R and the 800MT-X.

The new CFMOTO Singapore showroom is a full-fledged hub, now kitted out with a broader model range and a dedicated Motul Experience Zone. The partnership ensures every CFMOTO bike is primed with high-performance engine oils and top-shelf aftercare.

All bikes sold locally will be serviced using Motul’s range of high-performance lubricants, from engine oils to gear and helmet cleaners.

675SR-R

At just $18,800 (excluding COE and insurance), the CFMOTO 675SR-R is a tantalising entry point into the world of sportbikes. It brings the firepower; a 675cc inline triple that puts out 66kW at a raucous 11,000rpm and 68Nm of torque at 8,250rpm.

It looks the part too. There are aerodynamic winglets, a race-inspired fairing, and premium kit like KYB adjustable suspension and dual 300mm J.Juan brakes. There’s even a quickshifter and two-level traction control, features typically reserved for machines with much steeper price tags.

If you’re new to sportbikes or just looking for something that’s wickedly fun without costing a limb, this one’s a cheeky contender.

800MT-X

If the 675SR-R is the extroverted show pony, the 800MT-X is the rugged trailblazer, muddy boots and all. Based on the 800MT Explore, the X variant is CFMOTO’s most off-road capable adventure-tourer to date. It’s got the guts: a 799cc parallel twin churning out 67kW and 86Nm. But more importantly, it’s got the gear to match.

21/18” spoked tubeless wheels, fully adjustable suspension, 200mm of ground clearance (or 240mm with the high-seat variant), and off-road-focused electronics like cornering ABS and a 6D IMU traction control system.

Adventure doesn’t mean austerity, though. The 800MT-X comes with a 22L fuel tank, cruise control, quickshifter, tyre pressure monitoring, and a crisp 7-inch TFT display. Yours for $26,900 (excluding COE and insurance).

Jeremy Goh of CFMOTO Singapore summed it up: “We entered Singapore’s market back in 2021 with smaller displacement motorcycles, and today CFMOTO has taken a big step forward ahead of other Chinese competitors in the market. With the 675SR-R and 800MT-X, we’re offering local riders options that are both thrilling and practical, backed by a growing support ecosystem.”

So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to get back on two wheels – or just upgrade the ones you’ve got, drop by their new digs at Ubi Road 1, and see for yourself how far CFMOTO has come.

Designed for riders who want unfiltered adrenaline, the Sportster S now features a revised suspension system, improving comfort and handling without sacrificing its aggressive stance.

2025 Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO)

For those who demand the absolute best, Harley-Davidson’s CVO models represent the epitome of premium design, performance, and exclusivity.

The 2025 line-up introduces three new masterpieces, each a blend of top-tier engineering, high-performance tuning, and show-stopping custom finishes.

  • CVO Road Glide ST – Inspired by Harley-Davidson’s Screamin’ Eagle Factory Team, this high-performance bagger is built for riders who want race-inspired handling with luxury touring appeal.

Harley-Davidson Debuts Hydra-Glide Revival Model In Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=275762 Fri, 28 Jun 2024 12:21:05 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=275762 The limited-edition Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide Revival Model was launched at the exclusive premiere of ‘The Bikeriders’ film at Shaw Theatres Lido.

Harley-Davidson recently revealed a new model in the limited-edition Icons motorcycle collection: the 2024 Hydra-Glide Revival.

This model, adorned with premium factory-direct custom paint and graphic treatments, is now available at Wearnes Harley-Davidson of Singapore.

Inspired by the motorcycles of the 1960s, as seen in the upcoming film “The Bikeriders,” the Hydra-Glide Revival pays homage to an era of raw, unfiltered motorcycle culture.

This model marks the 75th anniversary of the 1949 Hydra-Glide telescopic front suspension, a groundbreaking feature for Harley-Davidson’s E and F models.

This limited-edition motorcycle stands out with its custom Redline Red paint and Birch White panelling, reminiscent of the 1956 models.

Chrome “Harley-Davidson V” tank badges inspired by the 1955-56 era and “Hydra-Glide” script badge on the front fender skirt add to its nostalgic charm.

The handlebar riser cap features a serialised “Hydra-Glide Revival” insert, and the Icons Motorcycle Collection graphic graces the rear fender.

The bike’s styling includes instrument graphics echoing the 1954-55 speedometers, a two-tone 21-inch high detachable windshield with a colour-matched lower portion, and a chrome round air cleaner cover.

Chrome steel-laced wheels, front and rear fender trim, engine guard, fork covers, powertrain, and exhaust further enhance its vintage look.

The solo saddle boasts a fringed and decorated leather valance, white seam piping, and red contrast stitching, complemented by a matching black leather tank strap embellished with studs and a concho.

Leather and vinyl saddlebags feature chrome conchos with acrylic red centres, chrome studs, leather fringe, white seam piping, and red contrast stitching. These water-resistant saddlebags have keyed locks for security and a rigid liner to maintain their shape over time.

Underneath its retro exterior, the Hydra-Glide Revival is powered by a counter-balanced Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin engine, enhanced with a Screamin’ Eagle High-Flow air cleaner.

The Softail chassis with adjustable mono-shock rear suspension ensures dynamic cornering and riding comfort while preserving the classic hardtail profile. Electronic cruise control, LED headlamps, auxiliary lamps, and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) provide modern functionality and safety.

The unveiling event was a grand affair, attended by celebrities, media, influencers, and executives from Harley-Davidson Asia Pacific and Wearnes Harley-Davidson of Singapore.

Select Harley-Davidson owners and members of the Harley Owners Group – Singapore Chapter also graced the event.

“We are thrilled to bring this limited-edition collection to our riders in Singapore,” said Dimitris Raptis, Vice President, Asia Pacific of Harley-Davidson.

“The exclusivity of the Icons Motorcycle Collection not only gives our riders freedom of expression on the road, but it is also our way of reinvigorating our popular models.”

BMW Motorrad Previews R 12 nineT In Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=275613 Wed, 26 Jun 2024 14:29:00 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=275613 The new BMW R 12 nineT and R 12 is a classic roadster for both dynamic and relaxed riding.

BMW Motorrad has recently previewed the new R 12 NineT and R 12 models in Singapore. These bikes bring together the best of classic design and modern technology.

Since the launch of the R NineT in 2013, BMW has not only given us a classic-style roadster but a whole family of bikes that blend vintage aesthetics with contemporary tech. The new R 12 NineT carries forward this legacy, embracing the “Spirit of NineT” with its timeless look and high customisation potential.

Meanwhile, the R 12 embodies the “Spirit of Easy,” offering a classic cruiser experience for those who prefer a cool, relaxed ride.

Both the R 12 NineT and R 12 are built with customisation in mind. These classic roadsters and cruisers combine the robust character of the boxer engine with the design language of traditional motorcycle eras.

Thus, these bikes are not only visually striking but also highly personalisable.

For a century, BMW’s two-cylinder boxer engines have been synonymous with power and reliability. The new R 12 NineT and R 12 are no exception: the air/oil-cooled 1,170cc boxer engine delivers 109hp at 7,000rpm in the R 12 NineT and 95hp at 6,500rpm in the R 12.

The redesigned airbox, now integrated under the seat, and the left-mounted twin-pipe exhaust system ensure both bikes deliver a distinctive, throaty roar.

The centrepiece of the new BMW R 12 models is the entirely new tubular bridge steel spaceframe.

Unlike the previous R NineT series, which had separate front and rear frames, this new design eliminates the need for multiple fastenings, reducing weight and giving the bikes a cleaner, more classic look.

The R 12 NineT comes equipped with two analogue round instruments for speed and rpm, a USB-C port, and a 12V socket.

Want something more modern? You can opt for a digital display. The R 12 keeps things simple with a single speedometer, but you can add a rev counter as an accessory.

The R 12 NineT boasts an aluminium tank with brushed and clear-coated side panels, a dynamic seat, and tail hump, creating a sporty profile. Improved ergonomics bring the rider closer to the handlebars, enhancing control and comfort.

The R 12, on the other hand, takes inspiration from the “Toaster Tanks” of the 1970s BMW /5 models. Its steel tank, solo seat, and curved rear wheel cover form a descending line, giving it a classic cruiser look.

The large 19-inch front wheel and small 16-inch rear wheel complete its harmonious design. The relaxed seating position with wide handlebars ensures a comfortable ride.

Check it out in BMW Motorrad’s showroom today.

Wearnes Harley-Davidson of Singapore has just opened its newly revamped showroom on 28 Leng Kee Road. This event marks a significant moment, not just for Wearnes but for the community in the region.

Dimitris Raptis, Vice President, Asia Pacific of Harley-Davidson, expressed his enthusiasm about the new showroom, which he believes showcases the strength and commitment of the brand in Singapore. “The new showroom is a testament to the strength and support of the brand within the riding community in Singapore.”

Andre Roy, CEO of Wearnes Harley-Davidson of Singapore, said, “We are thrilled to reveal the new showroom to our riders and are committed to giving all visitors an immersive brand experience.”

“We are confident that the riding community in Singapore will be able to foster deeper bonds and share their passions in the future as we plan and execute more activities in this new space,” he added.

With areas dedicated to lifestyle merchandise, the showroom will be a space where enthusiasts can connect and share their passions.

Sprawled across 600 sqm, the show floor features the complete Harley-Davidson lineup – from Grand American Touring to Adventure Touring motorcycles – not to mention a vast selection of merchandise, including apparel and accessories.

The service centre, equipped with a sheltered porch for convenient drop-offs and pickups, offers everything from routine maintenance to custom modifications, all handled by certified technicians.

The grand opening also played host to a community event with a charity ride involving 50 bikes to support local children participating in the Unlabelled Run’s 1km fun run.

This blend of community support and celebration of motorcycling culture typifies the spirit of Harley-Davidson.

G2 Quantum Electric Motorcycle Review – Urban Hero https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=269739 Tue, 05 Dec 2023 09:26:09 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=269739 The Quantum G2 shows how zipping around on electricity on two wheels can be done in Singapore.

The world of automotive journalism can be quite varied and interesting. Imagine riding a petrol-powered 1,802cc 400kg behemoth one day and a cute and nifty-looking 110kg electric motorcycle the next.

Ever since meeting the good folks at Quantum Mobility at National Bikers Weekend Singapore 2023, I’ve been looking forward to this test ride and my first electric motorcycle experience ever.

The Bike

The Quantum G2 is touted as “Singapore’s first mass-market electric motorcycle” but before y’all continue screaming at your screen, let’s call it what it is – a scooter. It’s also similarly easy to ride, and, believe it or not, its looks turn heads!

To begin, simply insert the key, twist the bezel to turn the Quantum G2 on, then pull twice on the right-hand brake lever and you’re ready to roll. There’s even a reverse function to make getting in and out of parking spots that much easier.

The digital instrument display is large and easy to read provided there isn’t strong direct sunlight. There’s also a cubby with a USB port to hold and charge your smartphone, and built-in Bluetooth speakers if you’d like to stream music on the go.

The Ride

On the road, this electric scooter is comfy and easy to ride. The front brakes can come across as grabby at first, but one gets used to it pretty quickly. I’d much rather have strong brakes for emergencies.

Otherwise, riding is quiet and pleasurable. One can slice through slow-moving traffic with ease, and get ahead of everyone else sitting in traffic on four wheels.

With my portly frame pretty much doubling the weight of the bike, acceleration is rather adequate. If you’re built like Sean, things should be more brisk.

Speaking of weight, heavier riders should take into consideration that weight will blunt not only performance but range as well. My test ride covered street-level 60-70km/h zones from Quantum Mobility’s Ayer Rajah office to AutoApp’s Tampines stomping grounds, and via KPE, MCE and AYE back to Ayer Rajah.

The ride started with the swappable twin battery packs at 98% charge. Keeping with the flow of street-level traffic was easy, with the Quantum G2 happily purring along with a simple twist of the wrist.

However, 70km/h zones proved to be more of a challenge, especially uphill sections. Heavier riders may find that speed slowly drops even with the throttle pinned wide open, and should plan ahead to build and carry momentum uphill.

Given how much full throttle I’d used en route to Tampines, arrival was with an indicated 58% state of battery charge. However, by the time the KPE tunnel had been entered, the battery charge had dropped to 48%. This meant sticking to the left lane, engaging cruise control and moseying along at a relaxed 65km/h to conserve battery.

Type 2 charge port

Yep, the Quantum G2 has standard cruise control available to use via a switch, to allow the rider to conserve energy and ride more comfortably. Neat!

headlight & turn signal switches, horn button
cruise control rockers, hazard lights & trip info rocker

This strategy worked well, and I arrived back at Ayer Rajah with 18% battery remaining. Take note though that at lower battery levels, acceleration will be noticeably reduced to protect the battery packs from damage, so plan manoeuvres accordingly.

The G2 Quantum is said to be able to do 80km on a full battery charge. Given the 1,123Wh battery pack and 80% charge used, the test ride consumed a calculated 898.4Wh over 52.6km. This works out to approximately 0.06km/Wh or 1,708Wh/100km, which was slightly off the manufacturer’s claimed 0.07km/Wh or 1,429Wh/100km. Again, this is very likely due to my weight.

The G2 Quantum is also said to top out at 90km/h but the fastest I managed to do in the entire test ride was an indicated 83km/h downhill with a tailwind. Again, this is likely due to my performance-blunting weight.

The Market

Quantum Mobility offers three utility plans for varied use cases in Singapore with the G2 Quantum. Pay-per-use allows much flexibility for short-term mobility needs that require no commitment and would be perfect for short-term expats and those who want to experience electric motorcycling.

One can also choose to lease the scooter from a minimum of three months to a five-year lease-to-own program, ideal for longer-term expats and office workers who wish to either have their own pair of wheels or switch to full-electric.

Finally, there’s a full subscription package with an all-inclusive rate that covers islandwide parking and charging for the more committed EV aficionado on two wheels.

In terms of current use cases, I’d say the Quantum G2 presents a very credible solution for those whose offices are relatively close to home, within a 5-7km radius. Can the Quantum G2 do longer trips such as from Tampines to Ayer Rajah? Yes, but with the proviso that charging is available in at least one end if not both, and if rush-hour commuting is one’s priority, for this electric scooter is perfect for lane-filtering through traffic jams.

When battery pack swaps become more commonplace, this will make the Quantum G2 that much more flexible. No more having to wait around for batteries to charge; instead, simply swap and go. This is something that Quantum Mobility is working towards and we hope to see this happen as soon as possible.

There’s so much to like here, and despite my gravity-enhanced frame-blunting performance and range, the G2 Quantum is a solid step in the right direction for motoring in a cityscape environment like Singapore. That’s why it’s such a likeable urban hero.

Now, all that’s left is for you to take a test ride, which is by appointment only. Contact details in the link below.

BMW Motorrad Debuts New 2024 BMW S 1000 XR and M 1000 XR https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=269889 Mon, 20 Nov 2023 07:43:51 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=269889 The BMW S 1000 XR model gets more power, and improved ergonomics, while the new M 1000 XR expands on performance.

BMW Motorrad just dropped a bombshell – the 2024 S 1000 XR and the all-new M 1000 XR. Let’s break it down and see what the fuss is all about.

First in the spotlight is the 2024 BMW S 1000 XR. This bad boy is packing more punch than its predecessor. We’re talking about a hefty increase in horsepower – 170 horses to be exact. They cranked up the power by optimizing intake channel airflow and tweaking those engine maps.

Torque stays the same, though, at a respectable 113Nm. The ergonomics got a facelift too, with the seat redesigned for extra height, measuring 33.5 inches. Plus, it’s got more cushion for the pushin’, making those long-distance rides a breeze. And let’s not forget the suspension upgrades for that smooth ride.

The Shift Assist Pro got a facelift for precision shifting, and the adaptive Headlight Pro is now standard. Keyless Ride? Oh yes. The battery got an upgrade to a 12Ah capacity unit, and they threw in a USB charging socket because, hey, we live in the 21st century.

Cosmetically, the 2024 S 1000 XR got a makeover too. New rear side panels, air intakes, and a textured radiator trim. They even painted the front fender to match the body colour.

And talking about colours, you’ve got options – Blackstorm Metallic 2 is standard, but you can spice it up with Gravity Blue Metallic (Style Sport) or Light White/M Motorsport (M Package).

Now, brace yourselves for the pièce de résistance – the 2024 BMW M 1000 XR. If you thought the S 1000 XR was a beast, meet its high-performance sibling. BMW boldly claims it’s “the lightest and most powerful crossover motorcycle in the world.” A bold claim, but we’re talking about BMW’s M series here.

Under the hood (or fairings), it’s got the same inline four-cylinder ShiftCam mill as the M 1000 RR, pushing out a jaw-dropping 201 hp at 12,750 rpm. That’s 31 more horses than the S 1000 XR. Torque is a solid 113Nm at 11,000 rpm, with a maximum engine speed cranked up to 14,600 rpm.

And here’s where it gets spicy. The M-XR engine is not just more powerful; it’s a whole different beast across the rev range. Lighter internals, optimized intake flow, and a shorter final gear ratio contribute to a noticeable boost in acceleration and pulling power. It’s a symphony of power and performance.

It’s got all the bells and whistles you’d expect from an M bike—adjustable throttle maps, Dynamic Traction Control, Launch Control, Pit Lane Limiter, and Hill Start Control Pro. And for those drift enthusiasts, there’s even a Brake Slide Assist. The suspension is top-notch with 45mm fork tubes and Dynamic Damping Control. The M 1000 XR flaunts its M branding and colours throughout, making a statement on the streets.

If lap times and carbon bits are your jam, there’s even an M Competition Package for that extra edge.

BMW quotes both bikes hitting the streets in the second quarter of 2024, so if you were looking out for a new sports adventure bike, maybe now’s your chance.
