The high-end electric marque from China is now confirmed to be arriving on our shores later this year.

AVATR (spelled without the ‘E’) is the crown jewel of Changan Automobile, one of China’s largest state-owned carmakers. This brand is the product of a three-way alliance between Changan, battery heavyweight CATL, and tech giant Huawei.

AVATR already sells four models back home in China: the AVATR 06 and 12 sedans, and the 07 and 11 SUVs. But for Singapore, the brand will lead with the AVATR 11, a coupe-styled mid-size SUV.

According to Mr Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director of Premium Automobiles, the AVATR 11 will be the first model launched locally, with a tentative debut set for late July or early August. And if you’re already curious, plans are in motion for a pop-up showcase at UOB Plaza, much like the XPENG preview from a few months ago.

So, what exactly is the AVATR 11? For starters, it’s built on an 800V electrical architecture. The single-motor variant boasts a CLTC-rated range of 815km, courtesy of a 116 kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the dual-motor version adds all-wheel drive and shaves the 0-100km/h sprint down to 3.9 seconds.

AVATR’s Singapore presence will be helmed by Premium Automobiles, which has been quietly reinventing itself after Audi took its sales model in-house. Rather than folding, Premium Automobiles doubled down on the EV game, first with XPENG, then Zeekr, followed by Changan’s other sub-brand, Deepal.

AVATR’s arrival marks the fourth premium EV name under Premium Automobiles’ umbrella.  The AVATR showroom will eventually find its permanent home on Level 4 of Premium’s eight-storey flagship at 281 Alexandra Road. In the meantime, it’ll share space with Deepal on Level 2.

With massive LED-wrapped columns, a spacious display area housing up to 12 vehicles, and even a café and children’s play corner, the brand is here to make an impression.

Front and centre of this debut is the DEEPAL S07. This mid-sized electric SUV has clean lines, a coupe-inspired silhouette, and impressive specs – 215bhp, 320Nm, and 475km on a single charge.

You get intelligent driver aids, a futuristic cabin decked out with minimalist aesthetics, and a ride that’s whisper-quiet. There’s also the promise of longevity, backed by a 10-year battery warranty and a 5-year vehicle warranty.

Singapore marks DEEPAL’s sixth international market since 2023, following Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Nepal, and Pakistan. It’s all part of CHANGAN’s broader “Vast Ocean Plan”, a strategy designed to supercharge global growth with a targeted investment of over US$10 billion in overseas markets, and a bold goal of reaching 1.2 million annual overseas sales by 2030.

The S05 and the E07

The showroom also offered visitors a sneak peek at two more additions to the DEEPAL family, the S05 and the E07.

The former is a more compact SUV, perfect for city dwellers who want EV credentials without compromising on agility.

The E07, meanwhile, straddles the line between SUV and utility vehicle, proving that practicality and electrification don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

With the S07 priced from S$220,999 (at the time of writing), DEEPAL is positioning itself squarely in the competitive EV market.

This marks Changan Automobile’s first foray into the local market. The flagship S07, a sleek, all-electric mid-sized SUV, is set to debut at the Singapore Motorshow 2025. 

With a legacy spanning over 40 years in automotive innovation, Changan Automobile has established DEEPAL in 2022.

Come January 2025, the DEEPAL Showroom at 281 Alexandra Road will open its doors, offering a space for customers to immerse themselves in the brand’s offerings.

For those unacquainted, XPENG is a name fast becoming synonymous with smart electric vehicles. The new showroom is part of their growing footprint in Southeast Asia, with stops already made in Malaysia, Thailand, and even Australia.

Walking into the XPENG showroom feels a little like stepping into a minimalist Scandinavian home. Picture clean white tones, light wood accents, and soft, seamless lighting. Against this serene backdrop stands a fleet of XPENG’s latest EVs, including the ultra-smart G6 Coupe SUV in a range of colours.  

Downstairs, the basement houses a lounge and a café bar serving coffee, ice cream, and pastries. For those seeking a quieter moment, there’s a private zone for more personalised engagements with the brand.

According to Hadi Widjaja Tanaga, President of Premium Automobiles Group, XPENG’s official retail partner in Singapore, this showroom is “a celebration of XPENG’s 10-year journey of innovation and progress.”

“It’s especially exciting to do this in line with the celebration of XPENG’s 10-year anniversary, bringing joy to everyday life without any compromise,” he shared.

If this showroom is a sign of things to come, XPENG is keen on expanding its footprint in Singapore.

ZEEKR, the luxury EV brand under the umbrella of China’s Geely Holding Group, is coming to Singapore in 2024. The Chinese firm has partnered with Premium Automobiles Group, the authorised dealer for Audi in Singapore. 

Two models will be available soon – the ZEEKR 009 and X. They’re the latest crop of vehicles from the Chinese firm, debuting alongside the ZEEKR 007 which made its global debut just last December.

The 009 is an MPV that promises well on paper, and the ZEEKR X looks like it just zoomed straight out of a sci-fi flick – sleek, powerful, and sophisticated. Not much else is known about these vehicles for now; we’ll have to wait until they have officially arrived in Singapore.

According to the folks at Premium Automobiles, we’ll be expecting them to arrive in the third quarter of 2024. Retail sales for both models are set to start in the first half of 2024.

To ensure you get the full experience, a dedicated showroom and service centre are popping up at Leng Kee and Ubi, respectively. These are slated for completion in the first half of 2024.
