Five of LOR’s finest have earned their spots in the Asia finals, ready to represent their countries.

In the recent Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Singapore 2024 held on 16 August, LOR’s Dillan Tan secured a commendable second place. Although thrilled with his achievement, Tan will unfortunately miss the upcoming Asia finals due to prior commitments.

Stepping up for Singapore, Jayden Liaw, who finished fifth in the national finals, is eager to make his mark on the international stage.

“It’s my first time participating in a Gran Turismo race, and the thrill of battling it out on the virtual track was incredible,” shared Liaw. “I’m grateful to the team for their support in honing my skills and making me a better driver. Balancing schoolwork and practice will be challenging, but I’m all in for the Asia Finals.”

This year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup 2024 pits national finalists against each other in a series of three races, with cumulative points determining the overall results.

Over in the Philippines, the Legion of Racers team, comprising Luis Moreno and Enzo Ison, dominated their national finals on 18 August, clinching first and second place respectively in a newly introduced format where participants advanced to sprint races based on their fastest qualifying times.

Reflecting on his victory, Moreno said, “I’m thrilled to have another shot at the Asia Finals. With the level of competition based on sport mode rankings, it’s going to be tougher this year. I’ll need to push harder and give it everything I’ve got.”

Enzo, equally excited, remarked, “This national final was one of the most challenging races of my career. The competition was fierce, and the grid was incredibly competitive. I’m excited and nervous to represent my country abroad for the first time, and I hope everything goes well for me, my teammates, and everyone involved.”

In the Toyota GAZOO Racing GT Cup Indonesia 2024, held on 11 August, LOR’s Moreno Pratama Yudha and Andika Rama Maulana secured the top two podium spots, proving their mettle in a closely fought contest.

“I’m over the moon with the result, with a P1 and P2 finish for our team,” said Moreno. “2023 was tough for me, but I kept pushing, and this year’s results are proof that perseverance pays off. We’ll be gunning for the best results at the Asia Finals.”

Andika, also known as Ramstig, echoed Moreno’s sentiments, adding, “This year’s competition was even more intense than last year. Every participant’s pace was tightly matched, making race strategy crucial. In the end, our hard work paid off, and I’m thrilled we’ll be representing our nations and our team in the Asia Finals. We’re ready to push even harder!”

The top three racers from each Legion of Racers team were awarded prizes based on their individual cumulative points:

  • Singapore Team: Dillan Tan earned SGD 2,000 with a final score of 40 points.
  • Indonesia Team: Moreno Pratama Yudha took home RP 18,000,000 with 50 points, while Andika Rama Maulana earned RP 13,000,000 with 44 points.
  • Philippines Team: Luis Moreno secured PHP 100,000 with 70 points, while Enzo Ison earned PHP 75,000 with 49 points.

Porsche Singapore Celebrates Return Of 2.4-hour Endurance Karting Challenge https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=275390 Mon, 17 Jun 2024 16:48:18 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=275390 Held on 15 June 2024, this Porsche Singapore event was a celebration of the Porsche racing spirit, camaraderie, and a bit of friendly competition.

The 960-metre-long KF1 Kranji circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, transformed into a battlefield of endurance on 15 June 2024.

Media folks and influencers were grouped into teams of three, stepping into a 144-minute race.

A tribute to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this second iteration offered a taste of what endurance racing is all about – strategic pit stops, relentless focus, and teamwork.

What’s a Porsche event without a dash of history? The karts were dressed in iconic Porsche liveries like the ‘Salzburg’ of the 1970 Le Mans-winning 917 and the colourful ‘Apple Computer’ livery from the 1980 Le Mans 935.

Each livery represented a piece of Porsche’s unparalleled legacy of 19 Le Mans wins, aiming for its 20th in 2024.

Evenly matched karts meant that racecraft, quick thinking, and minimising downtime were key. And this year, Porsche Singapore made it even more inclusive with a new ‘Pro-Am’ Class, inviting both seasoned racers and newbies to share the track and the thrill.

And the Winners Are…

After a gruelling race under the night sky, Ben Yang, Caden Tan, and Rohan Mathew took home the trophy in the Pro Class. Nicola Loiacono, Jonathan Lim, and Tan De Shuen grabbed second place in the Pro Class, with Daryl Wong, Sean Tan, and William Tan rounding out the podium.

In the Pro-Am Class, Daniel Tam, Mark Yeow, and Xiang Yeow emerged victorious. Congratulations to all the winners!

Each participant was also gifted a customised racer portrait, inspired by classic Le Mans posters.

The evening wrapped up with a live screening of the start of the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans. Amid the cheers and friendly banter, industry colleagues supported different race teams, bringing the global spirit of Le Mans to our local track.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Kicks Off 2023 Season https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=264193 Tue, 09 May 2023 09:38:00 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=264193 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia is back in a big way, with six rounds in six different destinations.

The opening race in Sepang, Malaysia, heralds the return of the much-missed championship after a long three-season hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first shakedown circuit will be Malaysia’s 5.543km, FIA Grade 1 Sepang International Circuit with the field contesting the first two, 50-minute races of the year. This is also where the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 will make its Asian racing debut.

“The return of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia will reignite motorsport in the region, and we’re thrilled to reunite the Asia Pacific Lamborghini family, welcome new teams and drivers, and debut the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. We are looking forward to a truly memorable season,” said Giorgio Sanna, head of Lamborghini Motorsport.

The 2023 lineup also features a whole international roster of skilled and talented drivers, including a fellow Singaporean in the mix. Jason Loh will be going up against some of the world’s best, and the field has a good mix of veterans and new faces.

A dedicated, professional coach will also be at the disposal of all series drivers at every round of the series as part of the comprehensive driver and team support package. At Sepang, the designated coach is Macau Grand Prix winner André Couto, who amassed vast experience contesting the Japan Super GT in a JLOC Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO over several seasons.

Of course, the real star of the show is the new formidable Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. Featuring radical aerodynamic refinements over its predecessor its uncompromising design was created by Lamborghini Centro Stile. New light clusters and a pronounced ‘omega’ lip at the front, culminating in new air curtain intakes help optimise airflow.

The iconic 5.2-litre NA V10 engine now delivers up to 611bhp, retaining its goosebump-inducing legendary sound. A sound that has since become synonymous with the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Drivers will be competing for four championship titles over the Lamborghini Super Trofeo 2023 season – Overall, PRO-AM, AM and Lamborghini Cup, with combinations of FIA-ranked Bronze, Silver and Gold drivers.

Each race weekend will feature two 60-minute free practice sessions followed by two 15-minute qualifying runs to set the grids for each of the 50-minute races. Each race also includes one mandatory pitstop. Championship points, like other racing series, are awarded for the top 10 finishers on a descending scale from 15 to 1, with an additional point for pole position in each class.

Australia is also a new destination for the Super Trofeo race circus, held at The Bend Motorsport Park, located 100km southeast of Adelaide.

South Korea’s Hankook will be the global official tyre partner for the 2023 season and joins long-time Asian series collaborator Roger Dubuis in supporting the championship.

All races will be live-streamed via the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.

Exhilarating Finale To Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GT Cup Asia 2022 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=261388 Mon, 07 Nov 2022 18:22:02 +0000 https://autoapp.sg/?p=261388 The Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) GT Cup Asia 2022 concluded on an exhilarating note after multiple rounds of action-packed racing.

The world of e-sports is now more lively than ever, and an increasing number of auto manufacturers are hosting exhilarating virtual championships. Toyota is a big player in this new sport, and the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) GT Cup Asia 2022 has just concluded on an exhilarating note on Saturday, 29 October 2022.

Enthusiasts from around the world witnessed 20 local qualifiers from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and South Korea battle it out for the regional championship title, and more importantly, for a spot in the upcoming Global Finals.

Kicking off in Group A of the Regional Semi-Finals, Andika Rama M. from Indonesia dominated the race while defending champion Nathayos Sirigaya from Thailand finished in the runner-up spot. Still, that was enough to retain Nathayos’ title with a 74-point lead, emerging as the TGR GT Cup ASIA 2022 Regional Champion.

Andika came in second with 71 points, just 3 points shy from the top podium spot. Being the top two racers, both Nathayos and Andika will represent Asia in the upcoming TGR GT Cup Global Finals in November.

Aside from the generous line-up of Toyota race cars within the Gran Turismo 7 platform and newly introduced race conditions, the third season of the TGR GT Cup ASIA 2022 also showcases how Toyota is committed to making e-motorsports more accessible to everyone.

With life-like graphics and realistic game physics, the general public can now experience what it is like to blast race cars around an exciting track. Best of all, this can be done in the comforts of one’s home, without having to worry about traditional safety concerns associated with racing.

Even if one does not happen to own the necessary equipment, Toyota has established multiple roadshows across the year to let the general public have a go on their simulators. This is a win-win for all, and motorsport fans will definitely be in favour of this, as it means more people are exposed to the joys of racing.

As with previous GT Cups, prizes were awarded to the top three country teams and racers. Team Malaysia took home 1st place with 120 points, followed by Team Indonesia coming in at 110 points. Team Thailand completed the podium with 104 points.
