BYD entered 2025 at full throttle, following a record-breaking 2024. Not only did the automaker surpass 514,800 new energy vehicle (NEV) sales globally by December, but it also achieved a historic milestone as the first automaker to produce 10 million NEVs worldwide.

Demonstrating a rapid ascent, BYD reached the second set of 5 million NEVs in just 15 months. In Singapore alone, BYD led the market by registering 5,068 vehicles in 2024.

At the 2025 Singapore Motorshow, among the stellar lineup were two showstoppers: the YangWang U9 and the Denza D9. 

The YangWang U9 made its first appearance in Singapore. Equipped with the groundbreaking e4 platform, the U9 boasts four independent electric motors delivering 1,300 horsepower and 1,680 Nm of torque. It rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds.

Its DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, with features that allow the car to leap and “dance,” left spectators in awe.

Meanwhile, the Denza D9, celebrated as the “Best Electric MPV of the Year” by multiple publications (including us!), embodies versatility and sophistication. Available in Arctic White, Whale Sea Blue, Harbour Grey, and Cosmos Black, with luxe interiors in Brown or Beige, the Denza D9 caters to families and executives alike.

Attendees can experience the Elite FWD variant at $290,888 or the Grandeur AWD variant at $338,388 (inclusive of Motorshow discounts and COE rebates). 

BYD’s display also featured the eagerly awaited BYD Sealion 7. As the star of BYD’s electric SUV lineup, the Sealion 7 highlights the automaker’s commitment to accessibility and style for eco-conscious drivers.

Beyond automotive ingenuity, the BYD booth offered interactive activities and exclusive deals, with attendees vying for prizes like DENZA x Tocco Toscano accessories and a $10,000 travel voucher. Fans were also treated to an appearance by Li Nanxing, Denza’s official car ambassador, who delighted the crowd with a meet-and-greet session.

James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore and Philippines, encapsulated the brand’s vision: “These models are just the beginning of our journey to revolutionise the automotive industry.”

Described as an “ocean-inspired masterpiece,” the Sealion 7 is available in two variants: Premium and Performance.

The Premium variant boasts 230kW of power and 380Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with an electric range of up to 480 km (WLTP).

For those seeking a bit more thrill, the Performance variant ups the ante with 390kW of combined power and 690Nm of torque. This powerhouse achieves the century sprint in a mere 4.5 seconds, with a range of 460 km (WLTP).

Both versions feature BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, renowned for its safety, longevity, and ability to support DC fast charging of up to 150 kW.

Safety takes centre stage in the Sealion 7. Nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors ensure a secure ride. Advanced driver-assistance systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Blind Spot Detection, complement the suite of safety features.

Cabin highlights include leather-wrapped seats, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a premium DYNAUDIO 12-speaker system. A panoramic glass roof completes the package.

James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore and Philippines, emphasised the Sealion 7’s versatility. “This model caters to drivers seeking performance without compromising comfort,” he said. 

Anthony Teo, Managing Director of Vantage Automotive, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the model’s ability to balance cutting-edge innovation with everyday practicality. “The Sealion 7 is a perfect blend of performance and luxury, crafted to meet the diverse needs of drivers,” he noted.

To celebrate the Sealion 7’s debut, Vantage Automotive is offering a $10,000 discount on both variants with a guaranteed COE.

The Premium variant is priced at $209,888, while the Performance variant starts at $234,888. Buyers will also receive exclusive gifts, such as an Apple iPad or Dyson Hairdryer, and stand a chance to win a brand-new BYD ATTO 3.

The BYD SEALION 7 is available for viewing and test drives at the Singapore Motorshow 2025 and the BYD Flagship Showroom at 305 Alexandra Road.
