After a spell of anticipation heightened by teasers, Chery Automobile has officially marked its return to Singapore. This re-entry was spearheaded under the familiar guidance of Vertex Automobile.

The curtains were lifted on the evening of Tuesday, 23 May 2024, at the new Omoda-Jaecoo showroom at 3 Ubi Road 4. This event, attended by media members and select customers, also celebrated the launch of Chery’s first new model in Singapore after ten years – the all-electric Omoda E5.

The newly inaugurated facility is Chery’s ambitious drive for a substantial global presence through its two promising brands: Omoda and Jaecoo.

Serena Wong, General Manager of Vertex Automobile Singapore, highlighted that this showroom is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia dedicated to these brands, crafted to reflect the Omoda-Jaecoo brand ethos.

The design of the showroom is a nod to the future, with its digital walls and expansive open spaces, designed to resonate with the youthful spirit both brands embody.

While Jaecoo is gearing up to attract adventurers with rugged SUVs suitable for off-roading, Omoda will likely charm the urbanites with its sleek, city-ready vehicles.

Focusing on the Omoda E5, this vehicle exudes a design philosophy dubbed ‘Art in Motion’, which Chery claims is visually manifested through its sleek lines and innovative lighting.

Its interior sports a 24.6-inch curved screen that dominates the dashboard, offering twin 10.25-inch displays for both the infotainment system and driver’s instruments.

The Omoda E5 is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 201bhp and 340Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.6 seconds. It’s supported by a 61kWh battery that promises up to 430km of range on a single charge, making it both efficient and practical.

Stay tuned for the reveal of more models, including the anticipated Jaecoo J7. With doors now open to the public, the Omoda-Jaecoo showroom at 3 Ubi Road 4 is ready to welcome anyone curious to explore what Chery has to offer.

The starting price for the Omoda E5 stands at $179,888, inclusive of COE (at the time of writing).

One can call it a holistic and seamless end-to-end phy-gital customer journey.

“Our Omnichannel platform together with the all-new Toyota Showroom exemplifies our commitment to going the extra mile for our valued customers,” said Ng Khee Siong, Interim Managing Director of Inchcape Singapore.

“Our goal is to make the car purchase experience more convenient and seamless across all touchpoints, such as physical showrooms, websites, mobile apps, social media, and more. We aim to deliver excellent services, comprehensive support and better engagement for our customers throughout the journey from vehicle selection, purchase, personalised onboarding, trade-in and aftersales care.”

In essence, customers can build their dream car using the “Build and Price Configurator”, personalizing such items as body colour, interior and accessories. Having saved their configuration online in their “My Account”, customers can then conclude their purchases together with their Toyota sales consultants either online or in the showroom with seamless viewing of physical colour plates and seat fabrics per customers’ saved choices.

The journey doesn’t end there. Toyota Always app and website would be used to book service appointments, purchase service packages or any other required aftersales support.

A newly introduced SMART Q system can recognise customers based on their license plates and send queue tickets via automated SMS as they drive in for their service appointments. This system is said to be able to improve waiting times by up to 30 per cent.

Upon selection of their desired model and additional options, customers can then explore available financing and trade-in options, as well as calculate their monthly instalments based on various loan amounts and tenures.

Best of all. in order to finalise their reservation, customers are only required to input their contact details and make a S$1,000 deposit upon check-out. Singpass integration makes this process secure and easy too. The shortlisted order can also be saved and revisited at a later date if required.

Cycle & Carriage (C&C) has recently revamped its Kia showroom along Alexandra Road. With a complete remodelling, the showroom now boasts ample room to showcase up to 9 cars on its showroom floor.

The grand reopening was also an opportunity to unveil their latest collaboration with Kia – the new Kia Niro Plus EV. While the hybrid version of the Niro was announced earlier as a taxi and PHV option, the Niro Plus EV is specifically designed and engineered to cater to the needs of mobility services.

C&C anticipates that the majority of Niro Plus EV sales will be directed towards fleets, including taxi companies, ride-hailing services, and car-sharing firms. However, unlike its hybrid counterpart, the EV version is also available for sale to private individuals. This is an enticing preposition for owners who require additional space but aren’t content with the current EV offerings on the market.

The Kia Niro Plus EV boasts additional tall cargo space and a taller roofline, bestowing rear passengers with added comfort.

Pricing details have yet to be revealed, but the car is available for viewing in their showroom.
