The new Aston Martin Vantage does not. It plays a different game.

This is a car for those who appreciate balance, proportion, and elegance as much as outright speed. After spending time behind the wheel, it is clear that the latest Vantage has grown into itself. More powerful, sharper, and more resolved than ever.

A Mature Dose of Power

Let’s start with the numbers. Under the bonnet is a reworked 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine producing 656 bhp (489 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. That is more than a 30 percent increase in power over the previous model, and it certainly feels it. Aston claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 325 km/h.

More importantly, though, the way the car delivers this performance feels deeply satisfying. There is a genuine agility to how it moves. The Vantage now responds with greater precision, and yet it never feels nervous. It is powerful, yes, but also composed and sharp to handle. A car that invites you to go faster, but doesn’t punish you if you don’t.

The chassis upgrades play a big role here. There is a stiffer underbody, revised geometry, and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers. A 50:50 weight distribution and rear-wheel drive layout give the car a well-balanced, old-school feel, backed by modern dynamics and suspension sophistication. It feels like a car that was built by people who really cared about the driving experience.

Looks That Make You Look Twice, Maybe Thrice

Let’s not kid ourselves. The Vantage is a stunning piece of design. Always has been. I’m happy they did not change the most beautiful part of the car — the rear. The ‘S’ wave tail lamps are unique and simply stunning, especially when paired with the wide, muscular rear haunches. It is the kind of view that makes you glance back as you walk away.

Overall, the car has been widened by 30 mm, and now looks lower, more planted, and more assertive. The grille has been enlarged, the splitter reshaped, and the stance looks like it means business. It still has all the right proportions, and it looks really, really good.

Now, let’s be fair. The Porsche 911 is a very attractive car. It is an icon for a reason. But if we are being objective here, the Vantage comes out ahead. It is more exotic, more dramatic, and visually more distinctive. Where the 911 blends in, the Aston stands out. There is a certain presence to it that is hard to match.

In many ways, this is a car for the mature and discerning sports car owner. Someone who has done the usual German rounds and now wants something different. Something that feels a bit more special.

Cabin Comfort and Control

Inside, Aston Martin has taken a big step forward. The new Vantage gets a completely revised interior, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen that finally brings the infotainment experience into the modern era. Thankfully, physical buttons remain for drive modes, climate control, and exhaust settings. A welcome decision.

Materials are rich, the fit and finish feel more premium than before, and the seats are properly supportive. It feels snug but not cramped, and strikes a nice balance between sporty and refined.

There is also a new digital cluster and a more intuitive control layout. It is cleaner, more cohesive, and most importantly, built around the driver.

Practical Details

For those who care about the numbers beyond speed and power, the Vantage is still very usable. It has a 73-litre fuel tank, 346 litres of boot space, and a kerb weight of 1,745 kg. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.3 km/L, and CO₂ emissions are listed at 274 g/km (manufacturer specs). It sits low at 1,275 mm tall, with a turning radius of 6 metres, and measures 4,495 mm long by 1,980 mm wide.

The suspension consists of double wishbones in front, and a multi-link setup at the rear, with ventilated disc brakes all round. Wheels are a set of lovely 21-inch alloys, and unlike a 911, the car strictly seats two.

So, Who Is It Really For?

If you are looking for a shouty, over-styled machine to win stoplight races or turn TikTok heads, the Vantage probably is not it. But if you want something that drives beautifully, looks sensational, and feels genuinely different from the usual suspects, it is hard to beat.

The sales numbers for supercars in Singapore are not looking good. With high luxury taxes and a stagnant economy, the rich are more careful with their choices. So the already tough market for Aston is now worse. At a starting price of S$1 million+ before options and COE, the Vantage is clearly not an impulse buy. But it is also not trying to be. This is a car for those who have done their homework. For those who care about how a car makes them feel, not just what it says on paper.

Final Word

The 2025 Vantage does not try to reinvent the sports car. It simply perfects its own formula. It is more powerful, more precise, and still one of the best-looking cars money can buy.

For those who want a proper driver’s car with soul, presence, and a touch of British charm, this feels like a very compelling choice. Quietly confident, genuinely special, and built for people who know what they are looking for.

Aston Martin Debuts New Vantage Roadster https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280479 Tue, 21 Jan 2025 19:58:56 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280479 The Aston Martin Vantage Roadster falls firmly into the fun category.

For those who believe that driving is an experience, not a chore, Aston Martin has unveiled its most potent, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster yet.

Convertible sports cars are often plagued by one fundamental issue: compromise. More weight, less rigidity, and a softened chassis often dull the very edge that makes a sports car thrilling. But not here.

Aston Martin engineered the Vantage Roadster alongside its coupe sibling, ensuring that from day one, it was built to handle like a proper driver’s car, not an afterthought with the roof lopped off.

It’s a mere 60kg increase in weight over the coupe, thanks to its lightweight aluminium chassis, advanced composite panels, and optimised suspension tuning. Other notable specs include:

  • 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, delivering 665PS (656bhp) and 800Nm of torque
  • 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds
  • Top speed of 202mph (325 km/h)
  • Fastest electric folding roof in its class – 6.8 seconds up or down

And, with no roof, you get an unfiltered symphony of V8 thunder that makes every drive a sensory experience.

Aston Martin’s dynamics team has ensured that, despite its convertible nature, this Roadster remains precise, poised, and predictable, whether you’re attacking tight corners or cruising down a coastal road.

This means zero compromise; you can push hard into corners with confidence, knowing the car will respond with the balance and precision expected of an Aston Martin.

Oh, the roof. It’s the fastest fully automatic deployable roof on the market today. The ‘Z-fold’ mechanism means it takes a mere 6.8 seconds to open or close, even at speeds of up to 50 km/h. No fiddly tonneau covers, no clunky folding metal mechanisms, just seamless, fuss-free operation that adds to the theatre of the drive.

With eight layers of insulation, cabin noise is on par with the coupe when the roof is up, making it a genuine grand tourer when needed.

Some convertibles look stunning with the roof down but awkward when it’s up. Not the Vantage Roadster.

Aston Martin’s designers have ensured the silhouette remains beautifully proportione*, whether the roof is tucked away or fully raised. The colour palette also gets a refresh, with three new hues added to the mix:

  • Iridescent Sapphire
  • Satin Iridescent Sapphire
  • Bronze Flare

And for those who want even more personalisation, Aston Martin’s ‘Q by Aston Martin’ programme offers an array of bespoke liveries, interior trims, and custom details.

With deliveries set to begin in Q2 2025, this is one Roadster that promises open-air thrills without compromise.

New Aston Martin Vantage Roars into Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280056 Sat, 14 Dec 2024 11:16:50 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280056 Back in April, a hush of anticipation surrounded a private event as Aston Martin Singapore unveiled a pre-production unit of the new Vantage.

Fast forward to today, and the covers have come off the production model in a grander, more official setting. With its arrival, Singapore’s automotive enthusiasts now have the opportunity to own what Aston Martin touts as the most driver-focused and fastest Vantage to date.

Aston Martin is not one to mince words, and its tagline for the Vantage, “Engineered for Real Drivers”, encapsulates the essence of this beastly machine.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Vantage delivers over 30% more power and a 16% increase in torque. That translates to 656bhp and 800Nm of torque from its 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine.

Coupled with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, the Vantage sprints from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds, with its top speed stretching to an exhilarating 325km/h.

Not bad for something that also looks like a work of art.

Power is nothing without control, and the Vantage’s engineers have left no stone unturned in ensuring its handling prowess matches its straight-line speed.

With a specially engineered chassis, featuring targeted bracing, enhanced undertrays, and larger anti-roll bars, the car boasts increased torsional stiffness and lateral rigidity.

Meanwhile, next-generation Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers work tirelessly to deliver razor-sharp precision and supreme control.

A perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution is achieved through a meticulously crafted front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.

Coupled with a low centre of gravity (just 49cm off the ground) the Vantage is poised to react with the swiftness of a race car.

Aston Martin has always been synonymous with a design that turns heads, and the new Vantage is no exception. It’s 30mm wider than its predecessor, with a larger front grille that enhances its aggressive, low-slung stance.

Frameless door mirrors, flush door handles, and the iconic Aston Martin side strake are all present, ensuring this is every bit a statement.

The new Aston Martin Vantage has officially landed, with prices starting from $1,098,000 before options and COE.

Aston Martin Vantage Unveiled in Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=274238 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 07:54:53 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=274238 Vantage preview follows hot on the heels of Aston Martin’s DB12 coupe and Volante launches.

Although the Aston Martin Vantage is considered the “baby Aston” of the range, there’s nothing infantile about this generation Vantage’s performance.

665hp and 800Nm of torque from a reworked four-litre twin-turbo V8 that sits at the heart of the Vantage propels it from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 325km/h through a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox via the rear wheels.

These numbers should get any serious car enthusiast hot under the collar, especially when the vehicle in question looks this gorgeous.

The Vantage’s bodywork is now 30mm wider than the previous model with a larger front grille, and all-new Matrix LED headlamp design with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), featuring Aston Martin’s new light signature.

Frameless door mirrors and optional presenting door handles are also new, while a wider rear bumper incorporating side vents and larger diameter quad exhaust tailpipes ensure the Vantage looks as dramatic from the rear as it does from the front.

Vantage owners can enhance the sporting character of Vantage even further, by selecting one of three core livery designs. Available in 21 colours, a client can choose to add a Pinstripe, Pinstripe and Lipstick or Pinstripe, Lipstick and Rear infill.

A new launch control system sees to the Vantage’s snappy acceleration, and in conjunction with its E-Diff electronic limited-slip rear differential, ESP Slip Control and Adjustable Traction Control mean that the perfect launch can be dialled in for the current surface conditions.

The Vantage has a 50:50 weight distribution, which means it should handle extremely well too. Vantage’s bonded aluminium construction and underbody stiffening means more torsional rigidity, enabling more precision when pointed into and out of corners.

Adding to this are brand new Bilstein adaptive dampers, which offer a 500% increase in bandwidth of force distribution over previous generation hardware. This in turn has enabled an immense range of control and speed of response, and Aston Martin engineers to sharpen the Vantage’s handling characteristics.

The Vantage’s Electronic Power Assisted Steering system (EPAS) has also been sharpened, and at 2.27 turns lock-to-lock, will definitely offer its front-end a more darty and eager characteristic.

Of course, good handling also comes courtesy of grippy tyres, and Aston Martin has partnered with Michelin to fit 275/35 R21 and 325/30 R21 AML-marked Pilot Sport S 5 tyres made specifically for the Vantage.

These sticky rubbers sit on 21-inch forged 9.5J- and 11.5J-width alloy rims which are offered in three different designs, namely the standard Five-Spoke and optional Multi-Spoke and Y-Spoke, and in a range of colours and finishes, including Satin Bronze.

Braking duties fall to cast-iron 400mm front discs and 360mm rear discs with drilled faces for improved heat management and fade resistance. Optional Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) can also be specified on the Vantage.

As expected of an Aston Martin, the Vantage’s interior is swathed in the finest materials. Standard fit is an Aston Martin 390w 11 speaker audio system, but a stunning 15-speaker, double amplified 1,170W surround sound system developed by audio partner Bowers & Wilkins is optionally available.

The Vantage is the second model to feature Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment. Created in-house and first introduced in DB12, it features a 10.25-inch touchscreen system which is much snappier than previous iterations.

Supplemented by a new Aston Martin customer connectivity app which supports iOS and Android devices, this infotainment system allows interaction, control and feedback to and from the customer’s Vantage via their personal device.

When purchasing their new Vantage, owners will be invited to enrol in the new Aston Martin app and create their own unique AML ID. The app offers a range of connected car subscription packages that are free for the first 3-years and designed to maximise the Aston Martin ownership experience.

This pre-production Vantage is making its rounds in right-hand drive markets for exclusive previews. It will be available for viewing at the Aston Martin showroom at 45 Leng Kee Road until Monday 6 May 2024.

Next stop, Kuala Lumpur.

Production versions of the Aston Martin Vantage are expected to arrive on our shores in Q4 2024.
