XPeng – AutoApp Dev https://www.autoapp.sg/dev Thu, 23 Oct 2025 12:37:02 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9 XPeng X9 Facelift Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=283825 Thu, 23 Oct 2025 12:37:02 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=283825 The XPeng X9 has gone through a minor refresh, making it an even more attractive package for prospective buyers.

Some cars ask to be driven. Some beg to be thrashed on the twistiest road you can find or launched pedal-to-the-metal on a de-restricted stretch of road. The XPeng X9, however, doesn’t make such demands. It simply opens its sliding doors and invites you in. Not to drive. To recline.

Because while most cars want you in the driver’s seat, this one insists you experience it from the back row.

A future-focused ride

XPeng X9

The X9 is huge, and unapologetically proud of it. Park it next to a Range Rover or even a Bentley Bentayga, and it stands toe to toe.

From some angles, it looks less like a car and more like a Star Trek shuttle pod, especially with its smooth, creaseless bodywork and futuristic proportions.

XPeng X9 captain chairs

But don’t mistake the X9’s sleek silhouette for cold minimalism. It’s a first-class cabin on wheels. Pull open the powered sliding doors and you’re greeted by what XPeng clearly considers its pièce de résistance: the second-row captain’s chairs. These thrones recline, massage, heat, cool, and extend leg supports like they’re trying to outdo First Class.

XPeng X9 zero gravity seats

Nestled between them is a central fridge for your beverages, multiple USB-C ports, wireless chargers, and tray tables. A screen large enough to host a Zoom call with every relative in your family tree folds down from the ceiling, and with five-zone climate control, everyone gets their own little bubble of comfort.

XPeng X9 third row

In most MPVs, the third row is where grandparents go to reconsider their life choices. Not here. In the X9, the last row is genuinely usable. Adults fit comfortably, and when you don’t need the seats, they fold completely flat into the floor, revealing a cavernous 2,500-litre boot.

XPeng X9 boot

That’s the sort of space you get in a small removal van, not a luxury MPV. You could theoretically pack for a long-haul family road trip and still have room for impulse buys from every shopping mall between here and Thailand.

Driving? Optional, But Surprisingly Pleasant

Of course, one still has to drive the X9 from time to time. Power comes from a single front-mounted motor making 315hp, drawing energy from a substantial 101.5kWh battery. Official range stands at 590km (WLTP), giving you a realistic 500km of useable distance, more than enough for a weekly commute.

Despite its size, the X9 moves with surprising grace. It takes just 7.8 seconds to get to 100km/h, which is quick enough to make it to your child’s piano recital even after realising you’ve forgotten their scoresheets at home.

XPeng X9

Thanks to rear-wheel steering, it turns like something half its size. The turning radius borders on the comical, like watching a sumo wrestler pirouette. Tight U-turns, carparks, and multi-storey ramps are no longer any concern.

And when it comes time to park, just press a button. The car will park itself, smoothly and silently, like it’s checking itself into a spa.

A true tech tsunami

XPeng X9 cabin

XPeng is, at its heart, a tech company that just happens to build cars. And you feel that in every part of the X9. There are menus within menus, letting you tweak everything from steering weight to ride height to how much regen braking you want on your daily jaunt.

It’s all very clever. But it can also feel like ordering coffee and being asked whether you’d like your beans ground clockwise or anti-clockwise, and with or without a hint of optimism.

Take the air-conditioning, for instance. Adjusting vents via the touchscreen is about as intuitive as painting with chopsticks. A physical dial or switch would have sufficed.

XPeng X9 front seats

Despite the minor UI quirks and the inevitable learning curve that comes with all this tech, the X9 is a remarkable achievement. It redefines the MPV as something aspirational, not just practical. A car that can shuttle seven in absolute serenity, while looking like it just rolled off a sci-fi film set.

Your lounge on wheels awaits

XPeng X9

In the XPeng X9, you don’t drive. You arrive.

And when you do, you’ll step out fully massaged, perfectly temperate, with your phone charged, your coffee cooled (or warmed), and your sanity intact, even with a full family on board.

If this is what the future of people-movers looks like, count me in.

Charge+ and XPENG String Southeast Asia Together with Ultra-fast EV Charging Stations https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=283667 Fri, 26 Sep 2025 05:27:45 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=283667 Charge+ and XPENG are building a spine of high-powered “supercharging” hubs across Southeast Asia to make long-distance electric driving possible.

The Singapore-headquartered charging operator and the Chinese EV marque have inked a strategic partnership squarely aimed at cross-border travel.

How quick is “supercharging” in their book? Headline numbers are stout: sites rated up to 480kW DC, with XPENG’s 5C battery tech enabling peak 451kW charges, enough to whisk a pack from 10% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes.

Four hubs are live today; Royal Square Novena and Downtown East in Singapore, KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur, and One Bangkok in Thailand. KL Eco City houses six ultra-fast points capable of up to 350kW DC, currently the fastest EV station within Kuala Lumpur.

Phase two stretches the map further, adding more sites in existing markets and moving into other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia. Crucially, the deployment focuses on practical, high-traffic touchpoints rather than headline-chasing one-offs.

“As the largest EV charging operator in Southeast Asia, Charge+ continues its mission to catalyse electric mobility in the region with its visionary 5,000km EV charging highway that connects Singapore to Hanoi in Vietnam. This partnership with XPENG, a forerunner in EV technology, reflects our shared commitment to enable a seamless experience for long distance, cross border driving.”

Mr. Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+

Charge+ is mid-way through a 5,000-kilometre EV “highway” linking Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam which dovetails neatly with the new XPENG tie-up to make cross-border motoring feel seamless rather than ceremonial.

XPENG owners will enjoy exclusive discounts on Charge+ public chargers across Southeast Asia for three years, with extra savings at the co-branded supercharging hubs. In parallel, XPENG users will soon be able to find, start and stop charging on Charge+ stations directly from the XPENG app, first on mobile, then integrated into the in-car display by the end of 2025.

“We are excited to collaborate with Charge+, a leader in EV charging solutions in Southeast Asia. Supercharging has been a core focus of XPENG with all EV models using technologies such as 800V platforms and 5C batteries to achieve ultra-fast charging. As XPENG continues to bring its innovative EVs to this region, we are confident we will be able to unlock new opportunities together with Charge+.”

Mr. Gao Xiang, General Manager of XPENG Charging

“As XPENG’s official distributor in Singapore, we have witnessed the rapidly growing popularity of XPENG models like the tech-loaded G6 on Singaporean roads as well as other global markets. With the partnership between XPENG and Charge+, we are happy that XPENG owners are going to enjoy further fast charging services across the country.”

Mr. Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director from Premium Automobile Group

Good infrastructure is invisible when it works. Long-distance EV driving in Southeast Asia will soon feel less like a carefully planned expedition and more like what it should be: point, go, enjoy the drive.

XPeng X9 Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282807 Sat, 12 Jul 2025 06:17:25 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282807 The XPeng X9 is a sci-fi-styled first-class lounge on wheels, lavishly appointed and an absolute indulgence to ride in.

Some cars beg to be flung around a winding mountain pass, while others all but demand a full-throttle run down an unrestricted stretch of road. The XPeng X9, however, plays a different tune altogether.

The moment I laid eyes on it, my instinct wasn’t to grab the wheel, but to slide into the back and sink into one of the sumptuous captain’s chairs. Because when an MPV is this luxurious, the true experience starts in the rear cabin, where comfort reigns supreme.

You don’t need a membership to hop aboard

XPeng X9

The XPeng X9 is enormous. At 5.3 metres long and a full two metres wide, it’s less MPV and more rolling condominium. Park it next to a Bentley Bentayga, and it might just eclipse it.

With its clean panels and slightly alien silhouette, the X9 looks more like a monolith from a sci-fi film than something you’d ferry the kids to school in.

XPeng X9 second row

Open the power-sliding doors and you’re greeted by thrones. The second row is the real show here: plush captain’s chairs that recline, massage, heat, and ventilate on command.

XPeng X9 fridge

Your calves rest on powered leg supports. Your devices charge silently via wireless pads. Your mid-journey coffee stays chilled (or warmed) in a proper, functioning fridge between the front seats. No one here is roughing it.

XPeng X9 tray table
XPeng X9 rear screen

There’s a rear screen the size of a studio apartment window, multiple USB ports, fold-out tray tables, and five-zone climate control. Yes, five. Each occupant gets their own weather forecast.

XPeng X9 third row
XPeng X9 boot

The third row isn’t an afterthought either. Adults fit comfortably. And when not in use, those seats disappear into the floor, revealing over 2,500 litres of cargo space. That’s enough room for a whole holiday’s worth of suitcases.

How does she roll?

XPeng X9

XPeng is a tech company first, and that DNA is baked into every pixel and panel. The X9 feels less like a car designed by engineers and more like a gadget conceived by a team of over-caffeinated software developers who just discovered luxury travel.

Power comes from a front-mounted motor with 320 horsepower, fed by a sizeable 101.5kWh battery. Official range is between 500 to 590km, though most buyers will care more about how chilled their bubble tea is than their WLTP stats.

Still, 0-100km/h in 7.8 seconds is no slouch for something this size. Handy when you’re late for your child’s piano recital across town.

XPeng X9

Rear-wheel steering gives the X9 a U-turn radius that defies physics. The steering is light, the ride supple, and the sheer ease with which it manoeuvres makes lesser MPVs feel like cruise ships.

And when it is time to park this leviathan, press a button, and it parks itself. Smoothly, silently, with all the precision of a valet at The Ritz.

Of course, with all this tech comes the inevitable side effects. The car is very customisable. You can adjust steering weight, brake feel, accelerator response, ride height, and regenerative braking, each with multiple levels.

It’s impressive. It’s excessive. It’s a bit like ordering coffee and being asked whether you’d like your beans ground anti-clockwise or with a hint of optimism. Some people like it, but I suspect most people won’t bother going through the hassle.

XPeng X9 cabin

Then there’s the air-conditioning interface. Adjusting the vents via touchscreen feels like trying to thread a needle in zero gravity. The team responsible may need to rethink their UI priorities.

A rolling statement

XPeng X9

Still, these are quibbles.

The X9 is an experience after all. A rolling statement that family motoring doesn’t have to mean compromise. It redefines the MPV as something aspirational, desirable, and cool.

So, if you’ve ever dreamed of a living room that takes the school run in stride and does it with more tech than your actual living quaters, the X9 is it. It’s sci-fi luxury for the real world, complete with its own fridge.

XPENG Unveils AI-Driven Revolution At Auto Shanghai 2025 https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=281921 Fri, 25 Apr 2025 10:00:46 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=281921 At Auto Shanghai 2025, XPENG Motors announced an AI-driven future that’s as thrilling as it is groundbreaking.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO, didn’t mince words at the unveiling: “We’re not merely launching products today,” he announced, confidently, “but fundamentally redefining what an automotive company can be.”

And redefine they certainly did, with XPENG’s new World Foundation Model, affectionately called the “AI Brain.” Imagine this as a supercomputer for cars, with 35 times more processing power than conventional Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models.

This allows vehicles to self-optimise and adapt in real-time to complex, unfamiliar driving scenarios. Think of it as giving your car the cognitive flexibility of a human brain, with a whole lot less complaining about Monday mornings.

Then there’s the XPENG P7+, a flagship sedan that grabbed the spotlight with its revolutionary 5C Supercharging AI Battery technology. Imagine pulling into a charging station, popping in for a quick coffee, and returning just 10 minutes later with enough juice to travel another 420 kilometres.

Coupled with industry-leading efficiency figures of 12.7kWh/100km, it makes traditional EV charging speeds seem almost pedestrian by comparison.

And speaking of impressive milestones, XPENG’s new electric MPV, the X9, clocked 6,000 firm orders in just seven days, a record-setting performance in the electric MPV segment.

But XPENG didn’t stop at just four wheels. They showcased a humanoid robot named IRON at Auto Shanghai 2025. Standing at a human-like 178cm, IRON moves with startling realism, right down to its 22 degrees of freedom in each dexterous hand.

Watching it perform tasks with seamless precision while casually chatting through XPENG’s smart cockpit AI reminded me less of machinery and more of a charming, albeit slightly metallic, assistant.

Closer to home, XPENG’s partnership with Premium Automobiles has firmly planted their flag in Singapore. Since July 2024, Premium Automobiles has successfully introduced vehicles like the XPENG G6 coupe SUV and the X9 MPV, catering to an increasingly tech-savvy and environmentally conscious Singaporean market.

As He Xiaopeng eloquently summed up, XPENG is reimagining the future of mobility. Expect to see more innovations in due course.

XPENG Debuts Its First Right-Hand Drive XPENG X9 Globally https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280366 Wed, 15 Jan 2025 11:28:14 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280366 Making its grand entrance at Booth #3107 of the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, XPENG has launched its X9 MPV officially in Singapore.

At 5.2 metres long and 2 metres wide, the XPENG X9 is built on the brand’s cutting-edge SEPA 2.0 platform, boasting an impressive 800V architecture that offers charging speeds up to 330kW. Enough to juice the battery from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

Buyers can choose between two battery pack options, delivering ranges of up to 480km (84.5 kWh) or 575km (101.15 kWh) on the WLTP cycle.

The standard and long-range variants generate 235kW of power and 450Nm of torque, achieving a respectable 0–100km/h sprint in 7.7 seconds. With a top speed of 200km/h and a turning radius of just 5.4 metres, the X9 is agile in city traffic.

True to XPENG’s futuristic ethos, the X9’s aesthetic is made from a 83% high-strength steel-aluminium hybrid, offering class-leading safety features such as 70.9-litre side curtain airbags and exceptional rear collision protection.

Its interior is equally captivating, transforming seamlessly from a family hauler to a spacious four-seater SUV, catering to a diverse range of needs.

Folding the third-row seats with a single click transforms the boot space from 755 litres to a cavernous 2,554 litres.

Following its Motorshow debut, the XPENG X9 will grace the brand’s showroom at 281 Alexandra Road, available for purchase from late January 2025.

Cindy Tanaga, General Manager of Premium Automobiles, summarised the brand’s ambitions perfectly: “The launch of the XPENG X9 showcases the brand’s commitment to deliver the future of mobility across the globe, with incredible intelligence and versatility, we are confident that the X9 will be the next choice of car for families here.”

XPENG Marks a Decade with New Showroom in Singapore https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=278808 Fri, 08 Nov 2024 14:22:20 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=278808 XPENG Motors just made its Singapore debut with a flagship showroom that spans two storeys and a sprawling 8,700 square feet.

For those unacquainted, XPENG is a name fast becoming synonymous with smart electric vehicles. The new showroom is part of their growing footprint in Southeast Asia, with stops already made in Malaysia, Thailand, and even Australia.

Walking into the XPENG showroom feels a little like stepping into a minimalist Scandinavian home. Picture clean white tones, light wood accents, and soft, seamless lighting. Against this serene backdrop stands a fleet of XPENG’s latest EVs, including the ultra-smart G6 Coupe SUV in a range of colours.

Downstairs, the basement houses a lounge and a café bar serving coffee, ice cream, and pastries. For those seeking a quieter moment, there’s a private zone for more personalised engagements with the brand.

According to Hadi Widjaja Tanaga, President of Premium Automobiles Group, XPENG’s official retail partner in Singapore, this showroom is “a celebration of XPENG’s 10-year journey of innovation and progress.”

“It’s especially exciting to do this in line with the celebration of XPENG’s 10-year anniversary, bringing joy to everyday life without any compromise,” he shared.

If this showroom is a sign of things to come, XPENG is keen on expanding its footprint in Singapore.

XPeng G6 Long Range Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=277965 Fri, 11 Oct 2024 16:30:41 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=277965 The Xpeng G6 aims to charm drivers with its smart, digital-first approach and eco-friendly credentials.

But let’s be real, in a market already flooded with EV heavyweights, the G6 has a tough crowd to win over.

XPeng G6

So, what does Xpeng bring to the table? For starters, there’s a big screen inside, a trendy light bar outside, and a tech entrepreneur at the helm of the company, no less.

All very nice things. But, can the G6 stand out from the sea of new EVs that have recently hit the market?

Robo-cop

XPeng G6

The XPeng G6 has a smooth and sleek facade, reminiscent of a cross between the Hyundai Kona EV and the Tesla Model Y. While it may not immediately stand out, its Macintosh-inspired looks do garner second glances from passersby.

There are two versions on offer for Singapore-bound units – Standard Range or Long Range. Both share 440Nm of torque, but the Long Range variant benefits from 282bhp, a slight bump from the 255bhp found on the Standard.

As with most EVs, acceleration is brisk and instant. You’ll easily win other folks in a traffic light drag race, since it only takes 6.2 seconds to hit the century mark.

How does it fare on the roads?

XPeng G6

The G6 isn’t here to wow you with Tesla-like theatrics, but it gets the job done. The ride is on the firmer side, but not uncomfortably so, and the handling is competent. There’s plenty of grip, and the traction control does its job well enough.

What it lacks, though, is personality; the steering feels a little dead, and there’s no real sense of excitement behind the wheel. It’s more vanilla than va-va-voom, but vanilla is what most folks prefer anyway.

The G6 is quiet and composed at highway speeds. There’s a coasting mode for regenerative braking, and while the X-Pedal mode delivers strong regen, it won’t bring the car to a complete stop. A little more engagement would’ve been nice.

Tech aplenty

One of the bigger appeals of the G6 is the amount of tech you get for your dollar. The suite of sensors in this car can pick out subtle differences in its environment, even distinguishing between solid and dotted lane markings, It knows the direction a stationary car is facing and even notices if the vehicle next to you has its indicators on.

An array of cameras are dotted around the car, and these help the G6 perform functions like auto-parking. You just tap a button on the touchscreen to confirm the parking spot, sit back, and watch as the car smoothly wiggles its way in. This is arguably the smoothest auto-parking assistant I’ve ever come across in a car locally. Bravo XPeng.

To prevent distractions from other occupants, there are speakers embedded within the headrests, which discreetly sound out updates from the car. Really helpful when you’re trying to listen to Google Maps whilst your passenger is blasting off some tunes in the car.

You don’t have to worry about charging

One of the G6’s aces is its 800V architecture. That’s the same lightning-quick charging tech we’ve seen in premium models like the Porsche Taycan and Hyundai EV6.

Translated, whether you spring for the 66kWh or the bigger 87.5kWh battery, you’re looking at a 10-80% charge in just 20 minutes.

During my stint, I managed to average 17.8kWh/100km, which is pretty much bang on with what XPeng touts the G6 can do. The figures are impressive, and with a gentler foot, I reckon some folks can easily strive for lower numbers.

Does cheaper mean compromised quality?

XPeng G6

Now, you’d think a lower price tag means you’re getting a cut-rate experience. But, I’m happy to report that the G6 holds its own.

While the design might not blow your socks off, the interior is far from shabby. Soft-touch materials, thoughtful storage, and a large touchscreen give off a pleasant, unpretentious vibe.

It’s the kind of car that is approachable to folks who are warming up to new-generation tech.

Having suffered through clunky interfaces in other Chinese EVs like BYDs and Zeekrs, the G6’s UI is actually not bad.

There are a few awkward English translations, but the overall experience is pretty straightforward. A far cry from the labyrinthine systems we’ve seen elsewhere.

While the centre console is a tad high and slightly intrusive, the rest of the cabin is spacious. A posse of five can easily fit and travel in comfort, whilst all of their belongings are tucked away in the 571-litre boot.

A sensible choice

XPeng G6

Overall, the Xpeng G6 is a good all-rounder. It does everything you’d expect an electric SUV to do, and it does it without fuss.

But, unfortunately, it doesn’t stand out enough. In a sea of EVs, it feels like Xpeng’s biggest challenge isn’t the product itself but convincing people to take notice.

It’s not flashy, it doesn’t scream for attention, and it won’t blow your mind with cutting-edge innovation. But maybe that’s its strength – it’s a no-nonsense, well-rounded EV that just happens to be cheaper than the big names.

XPeng G6

Where everything else is dialled up to 11, that might just be refreshing enough to win over drivers looking for a straightforward electric ride. No gimmicks, no fuss – just an EV that ticks the boxes for less money.
