Zeekr – AutoApp Dev https://www.autoapp.sg/dev Sat, 16 Aug 2025 15:03:24 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9 New Zeekr House opens in Ubi https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=283275 Sat, 16 Aug 2025 15:03:24 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=283275 Zeekr has opened its second Singapore showroom, aptly named Zeekr House, in the eastern heartland.

Tucked at 53 Ubi Road 1, the new Zeekr House is a fully integrated 3S centre (sales, service, and spare parts) where the journey from curiosity to ownership happens under one roof. Housed within a revitalised former service facility, the refreshed, modern space mirrors Zeekr’s design-led philosophy.

Zeekr House

On display is the full Zeekr experience, including the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009. Prefer a human over a brochure? On-site sales executives are on hand to walk you through key features, demystify the jargon, and chat about electric mobility in plain English.

Zeekr House

And if you’re the sort who believes a car should be judged in motion rather than in photographs, they’ll happily facilitate a drive so you can feel the calibration for yourself. Numbers tell part of the story; the steering wheel usually tells the rest.

Opening hours

Zeekr House

09:00–18:00, Monday to Saturday, and 10:00–18:00 on Sundays and public holidays.

Swing by for a look, stay for a drive, and leave with a clearer sense of whether Zeekr’s brand of electric refinement fits your daily rhythm.

Zeekr 009 Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282346 Fri, 23 May 2025 08:42:55 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282346 On the ever-growing list of things I never thought I’d covet now sits a Chinese luxury MPV that goes by the name of Zeekr 009.

An electric seven-seater that can out-accelerate other cars while massaging your back and chilling your drink? That’s a billionaire’s fever dream. Yet, here we are, with a near-5.2 metre behemoth from a brand that barely existed five years ago, making a surprisingly convincing pitch for your dollar.

So, is the Zeekr 009 all sizzle and no steak? Or is it quietly rewriting the MPV rulebook while you were busy comparing SUV ground clearances?

Who, or What, is Zeekr?

Zeekr (a blend of ‘Gen Z’ and ‘geek’, apparently) is Geely’s upmarket EV sub-brand, the Chinese auto giant that owns Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and even a slice of Smart.

Since launching in late 2021, Zeekr has aimed squarely at the “premium electric mobility” segment, and the 009 is its most audacious attempt yet. The name might not roll off the tongue like 007, but once you’ve spent time in the 009, you’ll find yourself whispering it with unexpected affection.

The Spaceship Has Landed

Zeekr 009

In the metal, the 009 is massive, longer than a Toyota Alphard and broader than most things not classified as commercial vehicles. If it had wings, Changi Airport might mistake it for a regional jet. With a 3.2m wheelbase and 20-inch “Starlight” wheels, this is not a car you park discreetly.

The front fascia is a dazzling mix of LED claws and a silver-slat grille, which thankfully avoids the chrome overdose of its Chinese-market siblings. The profile is dominated by giant power-sliding doors and equally enormous windows, while the rear is conventional, albeit dressed with a light show.

Zeekr 009

It’s a design that demands attention, though whether it’s admiration or bewilderment you receive depends on your audience. Fellow motoring journalists, for instance, reacted like children shown a real spaceship.

All Aboard the Lounge on Wheels

Zeekr 009 captain chairs

Step inside and the Zeekr wastes no time making its case. This is the top-of-the-range Flagship variant, dripping in Nappa leather, suede, and soft-touch surfaces.

The best seat in the house is undoubtedly the second-row captain’s chairs. Heated, cooled, massaging, power-reclining, and paired with footrests, they’re the automotive equivalent of a La-Z-Boy.

Zeekr 009 seat controls
Zeekr 009 fridge

Tap “First Class Mode”, and the seats recline to nearly 45 degrees, leg-rests rise, and a 17-inch screen drops down from the ceiling like a Netflix portal from heaven. There’s even a fridge hidden in the centre console for your drinks, because of course there is.

Zeekr 009 boot

Boot space with all seats up is 574 litres. Fold the third row and you’ll free up more, though the floor ends up uneven, and it does limit how far the second row can recline.

Zeekr 009 third row

The third-row seats themselves are manual and best reserved for kids or short jaunts.

Tech Overload? Almost.

Zeekr 009 steering wheel

At the heart of the dash sits a 15-inch 2.5K OLED touchscreen that’s responsive, sharp, and packed with more functions than some smartphones. You can open sliding doors, adjust seat massage settings, tweak the panoramic roof, or even launch a game of Candy Blast.

Add to that wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, 5G connectivity, OTA updates, an AR head-up display the size of your forearm, and eight USB-C ports, four of which are for the second row alone, and you start to feel like you’re in a rolling Apple store.

yamaha sound system

Credit has to be given to the 30-speaker Yamaha sound system too. It’s not the brightest or best sounding (though it does come pretty darn close), but what it trumps the competition in is immersion. You feel like you’re actually listening to a concert live on stage, with the crowds behind cheering on.

If sound is one of the top things you look out for when buying a car, Zeekr and Yamaha have got it absolutely nailed down.

Zeekr 009 front seats

But, while there’s plenty of clever tech, things like manual window blinds and the lack of tray tables on lower trims feel like oversights in an otherwise opulent experience.

Driver Still Matters

Zeekr 009

Now, you’re probably wondering, who’s actually driving this thing? In most cases, a chauffeur. But for those curious enough to take the wheel themselves, despite weighing nearly three tonnes, the Zeekr 009 surges from 0–100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. That’s thanks to a dual-motor setup with 450kW and 693Nm on tap.

It’s hilariously fast, not in a pinned-to-your-seat kind of way, but in that surreal “Did a house just zoom past me?” sense.

Zeekr 009 rims

On the move, the air suspension and electromagnetic damping deliver a pillowy, wafting ride, although it can be a little too soft at times, especially over multiple sharp speed bumps. Leave it in Normal mode and everything feels refined, unhurried, and whisper quiet, exactly what you want in an electric luxury MPV.

Handling is surprisingly tidy. There’s a tight turning circle, decent body control, and driver aids that behave like they’ve been tuned by adults. The steering lacks feel, and the brakes are a bit grabby, but unless you’re planning to smoke other motorists on the road, you’ll be fine.

Range is officially rated at 582km WLTP, thanks to a massive 116kWh battery. But real-world figures suggest closer to 480–500km, especially if you’re hauling passengers and blasting the aircon.

Charging from 10–80% takes about 30 minutes at a fast enough DC fast charger, but if you’re stuck with a 50kW unit, expect a long lunch… and maybe dinner.

So, Who’s It For?

The Zeekr 009 isn’t for everyone. It’s not practical in the way a Kia Carnival is, and it doesn’t carry the badge appeal of a Lexus LM or a Mercedes-Benz EQV. But at just over SGD$400,000 with COE, it undercuts both while offering more tech, more pace, and arguably more luxury.

Luxury hotels, premium limo services, or families who’ve outgrown their SUVs but still want to travel in style, this is your spaceship. It’s quirky, indulgent, and oddly desirable.

Zeekr 009

The biggest hurdle? The badge. Zeekr is new. And resale value is, at this point, a mystery. But as a statement of intent, as proof that Chinese EVs can now rival the best in comfort, performance and design, the 009 is a thunderous mic drop.

And yes, because of Yamaha, I sorely want one.

Zeekr Singapore Launches New Single-Motor 009 Deluxe Variant https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=282277 Wed, 21 May 2025 09:59:39 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=282277 The Zeekr 009 Deluxe is powered by a single motor but packed with all the style, comfort, and practicality you’d expect from Zeekr.

The new Zeekr 009 Deluxe is a seven-seater MPV that delivers 604km of WLTP-certified range, courtesy of a single front-mounted motor producing 250kW and 373Nm of torque. It’ll still do the century sprint in 7.9 seconds, which is rather sprightly for something that can also fit your in-laws, a dog, and three Ikea flatpacks.

This isn’t a watered-down version of the flagship either, but rather a carefully honed variant that keeps the core luxury DNA (the adaptive air suspension, the panoramic tech suite, and all the advanced driver aids) while dialling back on complexity for those who value efficiency, practicality and price parity.

The cabin is pretty much the same as the dual motor variants, with premium materials, soft lighting, and wide swathes of space. The 574-litre boot expands to an absurd 2,979 litres with the rear seats folded.

Underpinning all this is Zeekr’s aluminium-reinforced frame and a full suite of safety features including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and multiple airbags.

Isabel Hong, General Manager of Zeekr Singapore, captured it best: “Drivers in Singapore are looking for versatile EVs that don’t compromise on comfort or cutting-edge technology. The Zeekr 009 Deluxe answers that call by offering the experience of a first-class lounge on wheels, now with even greater everyday practicality and extended range.”

The Zeekr 009 Deluxe is now available from S$359,999, inclusive of a five-year vehicle warranty and a ten-year battery warranty. It’s a compelling proposition in a segment where “luxury” and “accessibility” are rarely spoken in the same sentence.

It’s now available for test drives and booking at the Zeekr Singapore showroom at 9 Leng Kee Road, open seven days a week, including public holidays.

Zeekr Unveils 7X Luxury SUV https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=280396 Sat, 18 Jan 2025 07:54:51 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=280396 Making its grand debut at the Singapore Motorshow 2025, Zeekr’s first-ever family-focused luxury SUV, the Zeekr 7X, has arrived.

First revealed at the Chengdu Motorshow 2024, the 7X is catered to the premium EV market. It features a sleek modern facade.

Built on Zeekr’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (the same platform you’ll find under the Lotus Eletre), the 7X promises a spacious cabin. Generous head and leg room will go along with 32 different storage compartments for all the bits and bobs that come with family life. And with a 616-litre boot, there’s space for more than just the weekly grocery run.

The tech onboard doesn’t disappoint either. A dual Nvidia Orin-X system powers the car’s smart driving assistance, which includes Lidar, high-definition cameras, and millimetre-wave radar.

That said, some of these futuristic features might not make it beyond China’s borders. As for entertainment, the 7X is packing a Qualcomm 8295 chipset, which should keep all the in-car screens snappy and responsive.

Speaking at the unveiling, Alex Bao, Head of Southeast Asia for Zeekr, expressed his excitement: “Since our launch in August, we have received incredible support from Singaporean drivers. This marks our first participation in the Singapore Motorshow, and we’re thrilled to introduce the Zeekr 7X, which embodies our vision for the future of luxury electric mobility.”

Adding to the momentum, Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director of Premium Automobiles, shared his enthusiasm: “Zeekr has always pushed the boundaries of innovation, and we are excited to showcase our exceptional lineup at this year’s motorshow. The Zeekr X and 009 have already captivated discerning buyers, and now, with the arrival of the 7X, we are set to redefine what a luxury family SUV should be.”

Following its showcase at the Singapore Motorshow, the Zeekr 7X will be on display at the Zeekr Centre Singapore from 13 to 19 January at 9 Leng Kee Road, marking another milestone for the brand as it celebrates the opening of its 500th global showroom.

The 7X is slated for an official Singapore launch in the third quarter of 2025.

Zeekr X Flagship AWD Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=278577 Tue, 29 Oct 2024 14:51:09 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=278577 Eye-catching looks and eye-watering pace; is the Zeekr X AWD the premium EV hot hatch we’ve been waiting for?

With its compact size and aggressive stance, the Zeekr X AWD isn’t just a pretty face; it’s an electrifying performer, hitting 0-100 km/h in a brisk 3.8 seconds and covering up to 420 km on a single charge.

Now available in Singapore, this compact five-seat SUV has all the style and speed to shake up the SUV scene here.

Shared Foundations, Unique Character

Born from Geely’s diverse automotive empire, Zeekr was established in 2021 as a premium electric brand. The Zeekr X stands on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, sharing its tech DNA with vehicles like the Volvo EX30 and Smart models.

In the AWD model, which I took for a spin, the 66kWh battery powers two motors that together unleash an impressive 428hp.

Distinctive Design: Sharp, Edgy, and Scandinavian Cool

With styling that feels bold and futuristic, the Zeekr X projects a unique identity. There’s an almost primal intensity in its sharp, angular look—like the face of a velociraptor blended with the high-tech coolness of Iron Man. This edgy design stands out among EVs, and the cabin’s standard panoramic roof further heightens its sense of light and space.

One standout feature is the clever circular screen on the B pillar, which lights up to show charging information, adding a functional, techy flourish to the car’s design.

Modern, Even on the Inside

Stepping into the Zeekr X, you’re greeted by a cabin decked out in sleek, sustainable materials with a modern, premium feel. The seating position sits at that perfect crossover height, complemented by an 8.8-inch digital display for essential driving data and an impressive 14.6-inch infotainment screen that handles most functions.

But a word of caution—almost everything relies on the touchscreen, and while it’s responsive, the constant monitoring “nanny” camera adds an unwelcome layer of supervision. Yawn, and it will ask if you’re tired; glance at the screen too long, and you’ll be reprimanded for distraction. I’d personally prefer fewer tech interventions here.

On the flip side, the Yamaha 13-speaker surround sound system is pure bliss, easily one of the best I’ve heard in a car, adding to the Zeekr X’s list of features like a head-up display, wireless charging, and even heated massage seats.

Sort-of Spacious Interior

While the cabin feels open and roomy, smaller rear windows can make the back seats feel a bit enclosed. Rear passengers get plenty of legroom and headspace, though the battery placement under the floor means there’s no space to tuck your feet under the front seats. The boot space is decent, at 362 litres, expandable to 1,182 litres with the seats down, though a bit underwhelming for an SUV.

And remember that fridge? It doubles as a food warmer, with temperature settings from -5°C to 50°C. A very cool touch—literally and figuratively.

Performance: Lightning-fast but Lacks Precision

Dual motors give the Zeekr X an exhilarating 0-100 km/h sprint, but while it’s undeniably quick, the handling doesn’t fully match up. Yes, it’s fast and it will pin you back to your seat and it works well to make your passengers go “Woah!” But that’s about it.

The body control and handling don’t quite keep pace with its powerful acceleration; the soft suspension and some rear-end movement under hard acceleration make for a less-than-composed experience (even in a straight line).

It’s a fun ride, but one where control takes a back seat to raw speed.

A Practical Choice? Single Motor Option for Commuters

For everyday driving, the rear-wheel-drive Standard model may be the more sensible choice. At SGD 15,000 cheaper and offering a slightly longer range of 440 km with the same luxurious interior, it is our obvious pick.

All in all, the Zeekr X represents a fresh and innovative addition to the SUV market. It’s a compelling choice for those who want something more premium than a BYD, and would be willing to take a chance on something new and unconventional. a blend of speed, style, and sustainability that’s hard to ignore.

For now, our search for the best EV hot hatch goes on.

Zeekr Debuts New 7X – Its First Family SUV https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=277400 Tue, 17 Sep 2024 10:50:24 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=277400 Zeekr has just unveiled its first family SUV, the 7X.

Details are limited at the time of this article, but what we do know is that you’ve got two options for batteries: a 75kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery that delivers 605km of range on the CLTC cycle, or, if you’re looking for a little more juice, the 100kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery, which stretches that range to 780km.

Zeekr 7X

Zeekr claims the lithium-iron phosphate version has the world’s fastest charging capability, with a 10% to 80% charge in just 10.5 minutes. Interestingly, they did not quote how fast the car at actually charge.

Zeekr 7X

But don’t think all that performance is crammed into a compact body. The 7X stands at a considerable 4,825mm in length, 1,930mm in width, and 1,656mm in height. For comparison, it slots somewhere between the BMW iX3 and the full-sized iX.

Zeekr 7X

Zeekr 7X

Expect the first 7X deliveries in China by the end of September 2024, with global rollouts slated to follow within the next year.

Zeekr X Standard Review https://www.autoapp.sg/dev/?p=277289 Tue, 10 Sep 2024 14:59:02 +0000 https://www.autoapp.sg/?p=277289 The Zeekr X makes a good first impression and is priced competitively to rival some of the big EV giants.

Nowadays, every manufacturer knows you need a compact SUV if you want to succeed in the crowded electric vehicle market, and Zeekr is no different. While other markets enjoy the 001 or 009 models first, Singapore buyers have the X as the first foray into the Zeekr brand.

Built on the same Scalable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform as the Smart #1 and the Volvo EX30, the Zeekr X comes ready to challenge heavyweights like the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona, and Kia Niro EV.

But, can it carve out a niche for itself?

You either like the styling or don’t

Let’s first address the design elephant in the room. Most folks aren’t going to look at the Zeekr X and immediately fall head over heels.

It’s certainly not ugly, but it won’t be swooning people over immediately either. Think quirky, with a sprinkling of European flair.

Developed at Geely’s Global Design Centre in Stockholm, it’s a design that feels both familiar and foreign, with oversized headlights, intricate flanks, and a tapered rear.

There’s more to this car than just looks

Look past the exterior, and you start to understand why the Zeekr X makes sense.

On paper, you’ve got two options. The cheaper of the two is a Standard RWD variant with a single electric motor pumping 268bhp and 343Nm to the rear wheels, delivering a century sprint in 5.6 seconds.

Then there’s the Flagship model, which adds another motor for all-wheel drive, cranking out 422bhp, 543Nm and hitting 100 in just 3.8 seconds.

Sound familiar? That’s because those specs are nearly identical to the Smart #1 Pro+ and Brabus; the Zeekr manages to shave a tenth of a second off those acceleration times.

Punchy, in more ways than one

Even this basic RWD model packs enough punch for urban and highway driving. The Zeekr X is a boon to chuck around, with enough spirit to keep you entertained while driving enthusiastically.

But here in lies a problem. The suspension is tuned for comfort but ends up feeling underdamped. On smooth roads, it’s fine, but introduce a few mid-corner bumps, and things start to get messy.

Body roll is noticeable, and the weight isn’t managed as well as it should be. The one-pedal braking is great for city driving but becomes less effective above 50km/h, so you’ll rely on the brake pedal, which feels a bit spongy.

As with most EVs, the steering is light and a bit artificial, especially when it weighs up at speed. You won’t be pushing this car hard into corners, but for everyday driving, it’s sufficient. Just don’t expect it to wow you with handling dynamics.

Any annoying bits?

Yes, the ADAS suite. It needs a rework.

The overspeed warning is piercing, and the lane-keeping aids tug at the wheel without much finesse. If this system struggles on Singapore roads, it’s going to have a tough time on the less-than-perfect tarmac found elsewhere.

Although, over-the-air updates may improve this bit in the future, with possible shortcuts in order to turn off any unnecessary safety features you are not particularly fond of.

I’m concerned about range

I hear you. The 66kWh battery is respectable; official WLTP ranges are 440km for the RWD version, which isn’t class-leading, but still serviceable for most weekly commuting needs.

Charging is decent enough too, with a max charge rate of 150kW, allowing for a 10-80% top-up in just 30 minutes. A quick coffee break, and you’re good to go.

The real beauty lies within

The cabin is where the Zeekr X really differentiates itself from its rivals. On one hand, you’ve got quirky touches like the oddly shaped puck that passes for a key, and unconventional window toggle switches that somehow work.

The Yamaha stereo is an absolute treat for the ears, and the interior’s swathes of vegan leather, mixed with a bit of rose-gold switchgear, make it feel quite premium. It’s solid too; panel gaps are tight, putting even some European brands to shame.

That said, space could be better. Rear passengers feel like they’re in a slightly cramped compartment, and the boot is a tad shallow. But overall, it feels well put together.

There’s a notable 8.8-inch instrument cluster paired with a 14.6-inch touchscreen that handles just about everything. And I mean everything. Physical switches? Forget about it.

The interface is crisp and fast, though it could use a bit of user-experience polish. Some of the more essential features, like ADAS, are buried under layers of menus, and you’ll need to jump out of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to adjust basic functions like climate control.

Zeekr does have a few fun tricks up its sleeve, though. Want to yell at pedestrians to cross? There’s a speaker for that. Feeling whimsical? Blast some animal sounds instead. It’s gimmicky, sure, but at least it’s memorable. I love it; where else can you neigh at a passing stranger?

Then there’s the thoughtful stuff, like an external display on the B-pillar that shows the car’s state of charge; no more awkwardly poking your head through the window to check.

Serious value for money, this

The Zeekr X shows great promise as a whole. The interior’s solid, you have enough features to keep you entertained, and the car is extremely easy to live with.

Yes, some items like the suspension and driver-assistance features need a bit of sorting out, but overall there’s serious potential here.

If you are someone who wishes to have their first foray into the world of EVs, the Zeekr X remains high on my recommendation list.

One of the inaugural Zeekr X owners in Singapore is Mr. Lee L.C., a 44-year-old who sprung for the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.

“I’m really excited to be among the first to own the model here,” Mr. Lee shared. “With all the new EV chargers popping up in my area, it just felt like the right moment to make the switch to electric.”

For prospective customers reading about the Zeekr X, now’s the time to check it out. Test drives are available at Zeekr Centre Singapore, located at 9 Leng Kee Road.

Pricing starts at S$199,999 for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model and S$214,999 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.
