Facelifted Volkswagen Arteon Arrives in Singapore

Poised as the executive saloon of the Volkswagen lineup, the Arteon has received an update for the Singapore market.

Volkswagen Singapore has just announced a new facelift update to the Arteon. The new model features updated styling, better creature comforts, and a new engine variant. Better still, one does not have to wait for an upcoming launch date, as the Arteon is available for purchase starting from today and will come in two trim levels: Elegance and R-Line.

Elegance

Updated dynamic styling

The new facelift improves on the already sleek and stylish elements of the current generation Arteon, with its sloping roofline and fastback design language. The redesigned front features a new continuous light bar that integrates the front headlights (R-Line), chrome trim pieces, and new air intakes seamlessly. The taillights also received an upgrade in the form of dynamic turn signals.

The Arteon also receives new 19-inch alloy rims for the Elegance and 20-inch sport rims for the R-Line.

Revised interior with new cockpit elements

The Arteon has also received a tech refresh for its interior, with a new Digital Cockpit Pro high-resolution digital display, touch-sensitive sliders for air-conditioner vents and a new multifunction steering wheel with touch controls. R-Line customers have the option to add an additional Heads-Up Display too.

The entertainment system has been beefed up, now featuring wireless support via AppConnect Wireless for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This can all be done via the new 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system, available in the R-Line trim. Unfortunately, in the Elegance spec, one would have to make do with only wired connections via a slightly smaller 8-inch Composition system.

To complement your favourite colour or convey your mood, the car has background lighting embedded in the trim pieces that can be adjusted in up to 30 colours. Plus, the R-Line features newly developed sports seats.

Plenty of space for driver, occupants and luggage

Even though it has a fastback silhouette, the Arteon is built around a highly functional design. All occupants in the vehicle benefit from Volkswagen’s widely used modular transverse matrix (MQB) technology platform.

The luggage compartment has a total capacity of up to 563 litres. By lowering the rear seats, which can be folded asymmetrically, loading capacity increases to 1,557 litres.

Refreshed efficiency with a new engine dialled for performance

One of the biggest changes to the new Arteon is its beating heart, which is now a more efficient 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. This powerplant produces a sizeable 188bhp and 320Nm of torque, and it can do the century sprint in 7.9 seconds. A front-wheel drive (FWD) configuration enables the car to achieve higher levels of efficiency (5.9 L/100km) as well as lower emissions.

The R-Line takes the Arteon one step further too with DCC adaptive chassis control, which includes driving profile selection and is adjustable via the touchscreen in the cockpit. This system takes into account steering, braking and acceleration manoeuvres. DCC will continuously react to the road surface and will in turn optimise the car for the current driving situation. Suspension damping is also calculated individually for each wheel and adjusted within fractions of a second, ensuring that DCC always provides the highest level of ideal driving dynamics.

As with most modern cars, the Arteon features a multitude of intelligent assist systems. These include Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Multi-Collision Brake, Proactive Occupant Protection System, Active bonnet (pedestrian protection system), and Park Assist with Park Distance Control.

It’s available right now

If you’re interested in the new Arteon and fancy a closer look or test drive, the model is available from today at the Volkswagen Centre Singapore. At the time of writing, the two trim levels, Elegance and R-Line, will be priced at $229,900 and $241,900 respectively.

The prices are inclusive of a limited-time $3,000 launch discount, valid until September 21st 2022.
