With some new touches, the facelifted Palisade is about to hit our streets.
We’ve reviewed the pre-facelift Hyundai Palisade and came away impressed with this large, luxurious land yacht. Now, the Palisade has been given a mild refresh and some new goodies within to keep it soldiering on in the seven-seater luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment.
The front cascading grille design is now wider, with grille elements now starting above the headlights, with a new strake detail on the lower front skid plate. Daytime running lights (DRLs) are LED composite items on either side of the grille and seemingly run “through the bodywork” of the front bumper, with a small hint of it peeking out just above the headlight cluster.
Multi-spoke turbine-looking 20-inch alloy rims wearing 245/50R20 tyres further accentuate the feel of luxuriousness. At the rear, vertical LED taillights further enhance the Palisade’s wide stance.
The business end of the Palisade is on the inside, where the driver’s seat is now of an ‘Ergo’ (as in ergonomic) type to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue on longer drives up North. Also, both driver’s and front passenger’s seats can recline into a “relaxation comfort seat” mode, enabling power naps on said longer drives.
At the rear, and for the first time, the facelifted Palisade offers third-row air-conditioning to keep occupants back there better ventilated and more comfortable. Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert monitors the rear seats to detect the movements of children and pets, and a driver-reminder sounds a warning after locking and leaving the SUV if movement is detected back there.
The Palisade is still powered by a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine putting out 277hp and 336Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and comes endowed with a technological suite of safety and convenience features. These include:
+ Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (Car, Pedestrian, Cyclist, Junction turning)
+ Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
+ Lane Keeping Assist
+ Lane Following Assist
+ Leading Vehicle Departure Alert
+ Reverse and Remote Smart Parking Assist, to park or exit tight parking spots while standing outside the SUV
+ Smart Cruise Control
More to come when we get behind the wheel of the facelifted Palisade. Watch this space.
