Porsche Extends Formula E Commitment

Porsche has recently affirmed their participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with the advent of the next-generation GEN4 vehicles.

Michael Steiner, a member of Porsche’s Executive Board for Research and Development, shared his insights, reflecting on the long-term vision Porsche has for Formula E.

He emphasised how the platform has been instrumental in driving forward Porsche’s expertise in e-mobility, transforming high-octane races into laboratories for developing tomorrow’s consumer technologies.

According to Steiner, the entry into the GEN4 era is to help enhance the synergy between their racing prowess and road-ready engineering.

Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, reiterated the brand’s intent to mesh cutting-edge technology with sustainability in motorsports.

He described Formula E as an ideal arena to showcase technological advancements and to test them under the rigorous conditions of competitive racing.

As Porsche gears up for its fifth season in 2023/2024, the forthcoming “GEN3 Evo” and “GEN4” vehicles promise substantial boosts in performance, with power outputs reaching new heights and regenerative capacities pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on the circuit.

Leaders from the Formula E world, including Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, and Alberto Longo, Chief Championship Officer and Co-Founder, praised Porsche’s ongoing commitment.

Porsche’s participation in Formula E also benefits its road car development, as the technology tested on racetracks often trickles down to the consumer models.

This synergy leverages high-stakes racing to refine the performance and efficiency of its electric offerings.
