Porsche Gives The Taycan A More Engaging Drive And Smarter Digital Experience For 2027

The latest Porsche Taycan receives a series of updates aimed at making the driving experience more engaging while introducing a significantly revised digital interface.

Rather than focusing solely on performance figures, Porsche has concentrated on strengthening the connection between driver and machine.

“By introducing comprehensive innovations for the model year change, we are strengthening the Taycan in all relevant areas. The latest models offer a more emotive driving experience and more intuitive and customisable operation,” said Kevin Giek, Head of the Porsche Taycan model line.

Porsche Taycan e-shift

The most intriguing addition is a new feature known as E-Shift.

Unlike a conventional electric vehicle, where acceleration is delivered through a single uninterrupted surge, E-Shift simulates an eight-speed transmission complete with virtual gear changes, shift jolts and engine braking characteristics.

Drivers can manually “change gears” using steering wheel paddles, while a virtual rev counter and shift lights reinforce the illusion of driving a traditional performance car.

Porsche has also revised its Electric Sport Sound system to complement the virtual drivetrain. The soundtrack now varies according to simulated engine speed and gear selection, creating a more immersive driving experience without attempting to imitate a flat-six engine.

The E-Shift system will be available across the Taycan range as an option, while the Taycan Turbo GT receives it as standard.

Inside, Porsche has introduced its latest Porsche Digital Interaction interface, first seen on the Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric.

The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system now offers up to five times the computing performance of its predecessor, resulting in faster response times and smoother menu navigation.

Customisable widgets, similar to those found on modern smartphones, allow frequently used functions such as navigation, media and telephone controls to be accessed quickly from the home screen.

The Themes app also allows owners to personalise the display with different colour schemes that integrate with the vehicle’s ambient lighting, creating a more cohesive digital environment.

The enhanced Voice Pilot now incorporates artificial intelligence, allowing drivers to speak more naturally when interacting with the vehicle.

Navigation searches, vehicle settings, media controls and selected applications can all be operated through conversational voice commands, while Google-supported points of interest improve search accuracy. Drivers can even ask follow-up questions without repeatedly saying “Hey Porsche”.

Wireless smartphone integration has likewise been enhanced, with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offering deeper functionality. Smartphones can now charge wirelessly at up to 25W, around 50 per cent faster than before, while future infotainment software updates can be installed over the air without requiring a visit to the workshop.

None of these updates alter the Taycan’s fundamental character.

The electric sports saloon remains one of the benchmark EVs on the market, but Porsche has recognised that today’s buyers expect more than just outright performance. They also want technology that feels intuitive and a driving experience that remains engaging, even without the soundtrack of a combustion engine.

The updated 2027 Porsche Taycan is now available to order at Porsche Studio Singapore, with prices starting from S$408,288, excluding COE.
