Proton e.MAS 5 Opens For Booking In Singapore At Car Expo 2026

Officially launched at The Car Expo 2026, the Proton e.MAS 5 has now opened for bookings locally following its earlier preview at the Singapore Motorshow 2026.

And unlike many newcomers entering the market with ambitious promises and little track record, the e.MAS 5 already comes with a sizeable reputation attached.

Internationally sold as the Geely EX2, and known in China as the Geely Xingyuan, the model is currently China’s best-selling EV. Closer to home, it has also become Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle, with more than 10,000 units delivered to date.

“The response this morning has been incredibly encouraging. The e.MAS 5 has already proven itself as the people’s choice in both China and Malaysia, and we believe Singapore drivers will quickly see why.”

Ernest Tan, Deputy CEO of VINCAR Group

The e.MAS 5 Premium is priced at $159,988, inclusive of guaranteed COE, with bookings during Car Expo 2026 receiving a $5,000 booking discount.

Buyers will also receive a 10-year battery warranty, five years of data roaming coverage across Singapore and Malaysia, as well as cross-border warranty support.

Underneath, the e.MAS 5 is powered by a CATL LFP battery and supports DC fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes. An 11kW onboard AC charger also comes standard.

Inside, the cabin follows the increasingly minimalist EV formula, though with a few thoughtful touches. A 14.6-inch infotainment display dominates the dashboard, even fitted with bilingual voice command functionality in both English and Bahasa Melayu.

Vehicle-to-Load functionality is also included.

The e.MAS 5 features 32 storage compartments, a 70-litre front trunk, 375 litres of rear boot space, under-seat storage and additional under-console compartments.

Visually, the design remains clean and contemporary, with aerodynamic wheels, semi-concealed door handles and a dual-tone roof available on Premium variants.

Safety equipment is comprehensive too. Six airbags, a reinforced cage structure and a full suite of ADAS systems are included, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning and a 360-degree camera system.

Unlike most compact EVs in this segment, the e.MAS 5 uses a rear-wheel-drive layout paired with a rear multi-link suspension setup.

The turning radius of just 4.95 metres should also make life considerably easier in tighter multi-storey carparks.

Bookings for the Proton e.MAS 5 are now open, with the vehicle currently showcased at Singapore Expo Hall 5 during The Car Expo 2026.
