Hot off the press with the Ghost Series II, Rolls-Royce has also introduced the Black Badge Ghost Series II.
Billed as a “daring and powerful new expression” of the Black Badge lineage, it’s the chaotic, more rebellious side of Rolls-Royce.
The Black Badge Ghost Series II is meant to be the most agile, driver-focused, and technical of its breed, but it’s also a lesson in the art of subtle drama. Blacked-out bits are done tastefully here, and the car still looks elegant without phasing into garish territory.
Under the bonnet, this 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 has been cranked up a notch. 29bhp and 50Nm of extra power compared to the standard Ghost Series II.
And for those moments when you’re feeling a little extra, there’s a ‘Low’ button on the gear selection stalk that lets you unleash the full suite of Black Badge technologies. Press the throttle down to 90%, and you’ll feel a 50% increase in gearshift speeds while being treated to a more throaty, rebellious exhaust note.
To manage all that oomph, the Ghost is fitted with an all-wheel-drive, all-wheel-steering chassis. The Black Badge Planar Suspension system features a unique Upper Wishbone Damper unit.
What that means in layman’s terms is that the car glides gracefully; Rolls-Royce’s signature “magic carpet ride” is still intact, but with newfound agility that’s primed for those who want a little more from their drive.
The cabin has its own Black Badge touches too. Housing a black chrome Spirit of Ecstasy figurine alongside an analogue timepiece, the Clock Cabinet gets extra sophistication.
This sits next to the Central Information Display, which integrates Rolls-Royce’s new SPIRIT operating system.
As with all Black Badge models, this Ghost is as much about performance as it is about opulence. The interior wraps you in a cocoon of understated luxury, while small details like the black chrome finishes and plush materials remind you that you’re not just in any Rolls-Royce.
If you’re looking to make a bold statement, the Rolls-Royce Badge Ghost Series II is the car for you.
