Toyota expands its electric vehicle line-up with the new Urban Cruiser, combining compact dimensions, practical interior space and a 49kWh battery in a package designed for everyday driving.
Not every electric SUV needs to be enormous, outrageously powerful or capable of accelerating like a sports car. Sometimes, all you really need is something that fits comfortably into a multi-storey car park, carries the family and does not make navigating Singapore’s increasingly crowded roads feel like manoeuvring a small yacht.
That, essentially, is the thinking behind the new Toyota Urban Cruiser. The compact electric SUV has arrived in Singapore and is now available for viewing at the Toyota Leng Kee showroom, adding another fully electric option to the Japanese manufacturer’s growing line-up.

Measuring 4,285mm in length, the Urban Cruiser is designed around Toyota’s ‘Urban Tech’ philosophy, combining contemporary SUV styling with dimensions better suited to city driving.
Its exterior adopts Toyota’s familiar Hammerhead front-end design, complete with slim LED headlights, sculpted bumpers and muscular rear haunches.

Despite its compact footprint, a 2,700mm wheelbase helps maximise interior accommodation. The rear seats can slide and recline, allowing occupants to prioritise either legroom or luggage space. Boot capacity stands at 306 litres, expanding to 562 litres with the rear seats folded.
Inside, the Urban Cruiser features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Other conveniences include wireless smartphone charging, configurable ambient lighting with 12 colour options and a 360-degree camera system.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor integrated into Toyota’s compact eAxle system, drawing energy from a 49kWh lithium iron-phosphate battery. The Urban Cruiser accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150km/h.
Drivers can choose between Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes, while charging is supported at up to 7kW AC or 53kW DC.
Toyota quotes a charging time of approximately 9.5 hours using AC power, or 45 minutes with DC fast charging. Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure prevention and front and rear parking sensors.

The Urban Cruiser also reflects Toyota’s broader multi-pathway approach to electrification, which continues to offer customers a choice of hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
“The introduction of the Urban Cruiser reinforces Toyota’s commitment to providing customers with a diverse range of electrified mobility solutions. Compact yet versatile, the Urban Cruiser is designed to meet the needs of urban drivers who seek the practicality of an SUV in a more agile and city-friendly package.”
Colin Christie, Managing Director of Borneo Motors Singapore.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is currently available for viewing at the Toyota Leng Kee showroom at 33 Leng Kee Road. From the end of October, viewing and test drives will be available at both Toyota showrooms.
