VINCAR Group has announced the expansion of its partnership with Grab through the deployment of AION Y PLUS electric vehicles into the GrabCab fleet.
Singapore’s transition towards electric mobility is no longer being driven solely by private car buyers. Increasingly, the country’s taxi and private hire fleets are becoming the real proving ground for electric vehicles.
These are the cars that spend long hours on the road, clock significant mileage every day and operate under conditions that quickly expose any weaknesses in reliability, charging or aftersales support.
Building on the successful introduction of AION models into GrabRentals’ private hire fleet, the latest collaboration marks another step in the growing adoption of electric mobility across Singapore’s commercial transport sector.
VINCAR says the AION Y PLUS was selected because its strengths align closely with the needs of professional drivers.
Its spacious interior offers class-leading rear legroom, giving passengers noticeably more room than many rivals in the segment. A 565km city driving range also allows drivers to spend more time earning on the road while reducing the need for frequent charging stops.
Wide 90-degree rear doors make it easier for elderly passengers and families to enter and exit the vehicle, while integrated ISOFIX mounting points simplify the installation of child seats.
Supporting the GrabCab fleet is the company’s in-house ownership ecosystem, which includes dedicated EV technicians, readily available replacement parts and an established aftersales network designed to minimise downtime. For commercial operators, reliable servicing can be just as valuable as vehicle performance itself.
“Our partnership with Grab has continued to evolve as more drivers experience the benefits of AION electric vehicles. Following the successful deployment of AION vehicles within GrabRentals, we’re pleased to extend our collaboration into the GrabCab fleet. Beyond delivering vehicles, we’re committed to supporting drivers with dependable aftersales service and technical expertise that keep them on the road with confidence.”

For GrabCab drivers, the addition of the AION Y PLUS provides another electric option designed specifically around the realities of daily commercial use.
