Aston Martin Awarded £9M by UK Advanced Propulsion Centre

Aston Martin has a new electrifying leap into the future: Funded, Charged, and Roaring to Go.

Aston Martin is gearing up for an electrifying transformation; they’ve got the vision, the drive, and now they’ve got the moolah. The British powerhouse of automotive elegance just snagged a jaw-dropping £9 million in government funding via the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) to supercharge its high-performance electrification strategy.

Now, that’s the kind of cash infusion that makes things happen. And what’s on the electrifying menu, you ask? We’re talking investments in vehicle light-weighting, a digital toolchain that’ll be music to tech enthusiasts’ ears, and electrification training to amp up the skill set of the future.

Aston Martin isn’t playing small; they’re going big, really big. They’re plonking down a whopping £2 billion commitment to advanced technologies over the next half-decade.

And it all starts with Project ELEVATION. This is a heavyweight, six-partner collaborative research and development project led by Aston Martin themselves. They’ve got the best in the business, including the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Expert Tooling & Automation, Creative Composites, Fuzzy Logic Studio, and WMG, University of Warwick.

It’s all about tackling the nitty-gritty challenges of crafting a lightweight, 800-volt traction battery pack and a duo of front electric drive units. These are getting integrated into a modular BEV platform that’s versatile. From supercars that make your heart race to beefy SUVs that can tackle any terrain, it’s all on the table.

Now, if you’re wondering when you can get your hands on the first all-electric Aston Martin, mark your calendars for 2025. And by 2026, every single new Aston Martin model line will offer an electrified option. Their long-term goal? Picture this: a core range that’s entirely electrified by 2030.
