Proton’s second EV model, the e.Mas 5, has been officially launched in Singapore, with a starting retail price of $158,988 with COE.

Proton’s second EV model, the e.Mas 5, is now officially on sale in Singapore, following a launch event held at the brand’s official distributor Vincar’s showroom at Leng Kee Road on 3 July.

The e.Mas 5 joins the larger e.Mas 7 in the Proton lineup here, and the car has already proved its popularity in other markets. In China, where it is known as the Geely Xingyuan, it emerged as the country’s best-selling car overall in 2025. Meanwhile, Proton has also already sold over 10,000 units of the e.Mas 5 in Malaysia following its debut there in late 2025.

In Singapore, the e.Mas 5 will be offered in the top-tier Premium variant, which means it comes with a 40.16kWh battery that delivers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 325km. Charging the battery from 30 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes using DC fast charging, while the car also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability to turn it into a mobile power source.

The single electric motor produces an output of 85kW/114bhp and 150Nm of torque, and the power is sent to the rear wheels, which Proton says will give the e.Mas 5 a more enjoyable drive. Vincar does not provide a 0-100km/h sprint time, but it says that it can go from standstill to 50km/h in 3.9 seconds.

Boot space stands at 375 litres, while there’s also a frunk with 70 litres of capacity, as well as a handy pull-out drawer under the rear seats with 28 litres worth of space.

The Proton e.Mas 5 is priced at $159,988 with COE at launch, which makes it one of the most affordable new cars on the market right now, putting it head-to-head against fellow electric hatchbacks like the Dongfeng Box and Aion UT.
