Every sedan that qualifies for this category needs to be powered and propelled solely by electricity from battery packs, and sold with a Category A Certificate of Entitlement (Cat A COE). Easy peasy.
Meet The Contenders
Clockwise, from top left, firstly representing China is the BYD Seal. Next, flying the South Korean flag is the Hyundai IONIQ 6. Finally, championing USA is the Tesla Model 3.
Sharp, muscular looks define the BYD Seal from the get-go, and is unmistakable. Combined with a tech-focused interior, lots of creature comforts and a soft and cushy ride to please the family, and you’ve got one seriously compelling package here.
If designers from Porsche and Saab collaborated, a design like that of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is likely what they’d come up with.
Like or hate it, it’s got a very unique exterior that few can miss. Add to that a technology-infused interior, sufficient passenger space, decent ride comfort and fast charging, and one is likely to argue little about this Cat A sedan EV.
The Tesla Model 3 needs no introduction, and is readily recognised on the roads. With an ultra-minimalist theme both inside and out, tech-centric experience, quirks unique to Tesla and stable yet playful characteristics, the Model 3 makes this competition even more hot.
