Dorifto!, a new indoor drifting arena, has opened at Velocity@Novena, offering a unique space to enjoy the joy of drifting in a safe environment.
Drifting is not something that is highly encouraged on Singapore’s roads, but there is now a new place where you can indulge in the joys of drifting in a safe and legal manner.
Dorifto! is an indoor drifting arena that is located at level 6A of the carpark of Velocity@Novena, and it hosted a special media preview on 14 April, two days before its official opening.
Conceptualised and created by Singaporean racing drivers Gladys Lam and Shane Ang, it features a specially set up track within the car park that has been designed to allow for everyone to experience drifting regardless of driving experience.
Dorifto! is open to both kids and adults, with children needing to be at least 7 years old and 1.2 metres tall in order to participate.
The track design has been inspired by the Initial D animation series, and there are elements that remind one of the legendary drifting manga, such as the Japanese road signs, illustrations of Japanese mountains, and even an artistic rendition of the Fujiwara Tofu Shop that is an iconic part of Initial D.
There are a total of 20 cars available to drive at Dorifto!, split between two designs, namely the legendary Toyota Corolla AE86 and the Mazda RX-7 FD. All the cars come with seat belts and safety bumpers, and are speed-limited to ensure maximum safety.
They also come with functioning headlights and taillights, and they are apparently bright enough to illuminate the track fully during sessions held at night.
Pricing for a single session, which is 8 minutes long, starts at $23 during off-peak hours, which are between 12pm to 6pm on weekdays. For peak hours, which are between 6pm to 10pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends and public holidays, the rate is $28 for a single session.
There are also session package prices for those who want to indulge in multiple sessions for a single fixed price, and these are priced at $115 for a 5 session package, and $220 for a 10 session package.
The package prices are applicable for both peak and non-peak hours, and Dorifto! says that a package can be shared among groups of friends as well.
Dorifto! is open between 12pm to 10pm on weekdays, and from 10am to 10pm on weekends, and is easily accessible from Novena MRT.
