Alpine Motors has recently announced its appointment as an official distributor of General Motors, marking the return of one of the world’s most renowned automotive companies to Singapore.
General Motors has recently appointed Alpine Motors as its exclusive distributor in Singapore, rekindling a partnership that dates back nearly two decades. For some, it’s the long-overdue return of a motoring heavyweight.
“GM’s return to Singapore marks an important step in our global strategy,” said Hector Villarreal, President and Managing Director of General Motors Asia Pacific. “Alpine Motors has been a trusted partner for many years, and their long-standing history with us further reinforces our confidence as we look to grow in this dynamic market.”

That history stretches back to 2006, when Alpine first represented GM’s interests locally. Now, with the ink freshly dried, the two companies are setting their sights on a renewed presence.
So, what can Singaporeans expect? While the full details are still under wraps, we do know that the first brand under the new distributorship is slated to launch in July 2025.
Will it be electric? Will it wear a Corvette badge? Or are we talking about a comeback for the full-size SUV? For now, Alpine Motors is playing its cards close to the chest, though they’ve promised that more will be revealed “in due course”.

“We are excited to represent General Motors and to be part of its return to the Singapore market,” said Keith Pang, Director of Alpine Motors. “We look forward to contributing to GM’s success in the region.”
For General Motors, Singapore’s compact yet influential market has always represented a litmus test for innovation, relevance, and brand affinity. From plug-in hybrids to performance icons, GM’s global catalogue has now expanded, so it’ll be interesting to see what ends up stateside.
