Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new CLA Shooting Brake in Singapore, which goes fully electric for the first time.
Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the all-new CLA Shooting Brake in Singapore, following on from the latest generation CLA which was launched at this year’s Singapore Motorshow.
Like the new CLA, the Shooting Brake is available as a fully electric car for the first time. It is in fact the only drivetrain available for the model in Singapore, at least until the hybrid version makes its way here at the end of the year.
The sole model available at launch is the CLA 200 Electric AMG Line Shooting Brake, which features the same single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup as the CLA 200 Electric. This means a Cat A-friendly power output of 110kW/150bhp, as well as 335Nm of torque, powered by a 58.4kWh battery.
Mercedes-Benz claims that the CLA 200 Shooting Brake can offer a range of up to 551km on a full charge under the WLTP cycle, which is slightly more than the standard CLA 200 Electric’s quoted range of up to 542km.
The biggest appeal of the CLA Shooting Brake is of course the wagon body style, and the associated practicality that comes with it. As such, the Shooting Brake’s boot capacity of 455 litres is 50 litres more than the regular CLA.
For those who need more space, the boot expands to a commodious 1,290 litres with the rear seats folded down. And being an EV, there’s also a fairly large frunk compartment with an additional 101 litres of space available.
Everything else is essentially the same as the standard CLA, and in AMG Line trim this means unique styling cues such as the AMG-style front and rear aprons and side sills, as well as special 18-inch AMG alloy wheels.
The interior is likewise similar to the regular CLA, with the 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and the 14-inch central touchscreen also present here, although it makes do without the passenger screen that is found on the more powerful CLA 250 variant.
The standard panoramic sunroof helps to alleviate claustrophobia for passengers, especially given the Shooting Brake’s sloping roofline which adds to the style of the car.
Pricing for the CLA 200 Shooting Brake starts at $293,888 with COE, and Mercedes-Benz is also offering customers access to its expanded MB.Charge Public charging network, which now includes operators in Malaysia, offering a seamless EV experience for those who drive up North regularly.
