Motul Celebrates GWM’s Triple Championship Triumph At The 2026 Taklimakan Rally

Motul is celebrating a landmark achievement alongside Great Wall Motor (GWM), after the Chinese manufacturer secured a clean sweep of all three T2 Production Class championships in the 2026 Taklimakan Rally.

As GWM’s Official Lubricant Partner, Motul provided the factory teams with a range of high-performance engine oils, transmission fluids and brake fluids designed to withstand the punishing demands of desert competition.

The victory also comes shortly after Motul and GWM announced their partnership, providing an early demonstration of what can be achieved when advanced vehicle engineering and proven lubricant technology work together in one of the harshest motorsport environments on the planet.

“We are proud to celebrate this milestone alongside GWM. Winning across all three T2 Production Class categories is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to what can be achieved through engineering excellence, teamwork and perseverance.”

Driven by Nicolás Eduardo Cavigliasso and co-driver Valentina Pertegarini, the No.251 TANK 700 Hi4-T claimed victory in 11 of the rally’s 13 stages, showcasing remarkable pace and consistency throughout the event.

“For an extremely tough race event like the Taklimakan Rally, choosing the right technical partner is crucial. With its world-class motorsport heritage and unparalleled lubrication technology, Motul naturally became the ideal choice for our high-performance needs.”

Yu Yunlong, Motorsport Director of Great Wall Motors

Success continued in the T2.1 ICE Production Class, where the No.257 GWM POER V6 driven by Eniriletu and co-driver Aobulege captured the championship after recording nine stage victories.

Completing the clean sweep was the No.285 GWM POER 2.0 in the T2.3 Club Production Class. Driver Zhou Renbin and co-driver Zhang Tengzhong delivered another commanding performance, winning 11 of the 13 stages on their way to the title.

Taken together, the results showcase GWM’s growing capabilities in off-road competition like the Taklimakan Rally while demonstrating the resilience of the technologies supporting the programme.
