New Mercedes-Benz GLB Hybrid Arrives In Singapore

Mercedes-Benz GLB Hybrid

The Mercedes-Benz GLB hybrid gains a new 48-volt hybrid system that can drive briefly on electric power, alongside the latest MBUX technology and expanded driver assistance.

At its heart is a newly developed 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 130hp and 200Nm.

More interesting is the 22kW electric motor integrated directly into the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It draws power from a 1.3kWh lithium-ion battery and, unlike a conventional mild hybrid that merely assists the engine, allows the GLB to travel on electric power under certain conditions.

On open roads, the combustion engine can also disconnect completely, allowing the GLB to coast electrically at speeds of up to around 100km/h. During braking and deceleration, the motor can recuperate up to 25kW of energy.

Efficiency has not come at the expense of the GLB’s main party trick. There remains seating for up to seven occupants, while boot capacity stands at 540 litres.

The cabin also gains Mercedes-Benz’s latest digital architecture, including the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and newest-generation MBUX, with artificial intelligence technology from Microsoft and Google.

DISTRONIC Distance Assist comes as standard, while the optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST package adds Steering Assist to create an SAE Level 2 driver-assistance system. [Press Release] Practicality me…

“More of our customers are choosing to move towards electrification in their own time, and our role is to make that an easy step to take. The GLB high-tech hybrid is built for exactly that, with the space and comfort they count on, and a hybrid that makes the shift feel natural.”

Marcel Luis Mustelier Perez, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore.
