The Mercedes-Benz GLE is here for your family’s long distance journeys.
With 48-volt mild hybrid technology and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, Mercedes-Benz has launched the refreshed GLE SUV in Singapore, with the Coupe to follow soon.
Right off the bat, the GLE 450 4MATIC AMG Line SUV will be available from $577,888 with COE (price accurate at the time of article), with the AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ in both SUV and Coupe guise to follow soon.
“We are proud to unveil the refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLE Coupé just days after we introduced the all-new GLC Coupé,” said Claudius Steinhoff, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Singapore.
“The GLE has gone through a thorough update from the inside out, surpassing benchmarks that the previous generation set in 2018. With an updated powertrain that’s now electrified, luxurious appointments from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and a bevy of connectivity upgrades through the latest iteration of MBUX, owners of the new GLE can look forward to every journey – even over challenging terrain.”
“The GLE offers an unrivalled driving and ownership experience to be had, and we can’t wait for our customers to try it out for themselves,” he added.
Powered by a three-litre inline-six turbocharged mild hybrid engine that puts out 381hp and 500Nm of torque, the GLE 450 dispatches the century sprint in a claimed 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 250km/h. Fuel consumption is said to be 10.2-litres/100km on the combined WLTP cycle.
The models have been given a full update from the 2018 generation, in all aspects from the exterior to the interior, as well as technology and equipment. The engine range is electrified throughout, which includes mild hybrids with a 48-volt system and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). Compared to previous versions, drivers can expect it to have more power.
The exterior features updates that refresh the look of the GLE. Front bumpers are new, as are the radiator and outer intake grilles. Multibeam LED headlights with daytime running light signet is also new. The taillights are distinct as well, with the SUV version’s light signet being formed by two horizontal blocks while the Coupe features two bars.
The AMG Line exterior is standard on the GLE, elements of this line include the diamond grille with Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome, and the AMG front apron with chrome trim element. On top of that, the AMG side sill panels and wheel arch clads the vehicle colour with the AMG rear apron coupled with a diffuser-look insert.
Fresh additions to the colour palette of these two SUVs are sodalite blue metallic and MANUFAKTUR alpine grey solid and two aerodynamically optimised light-alloy wheels in 21-inch for the GLE 450 and 22-inch for the AMG models, and the wheels feature a high-sheen finish and a five-twin-spoke design.
The AMG Line exterior features a new 22-inch wheel design, while the ambient lighting with animated projection of the Mercedes-Benz pattern is available as a new, optional extra.
On the inside, one finds Mercedes-Benz’s latest generation steering wheel with touch elements on the spokes. The centre and side air vents are now galvanised in real metal and feature a chrome look.
For interior colours, the equipment combinations catalana beige/black for the SUV and bahia brown/black for both SUV and Coupe have been added.
The second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system is found here, standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Each screen measures 12.3-inches, with the central infotainment screen being touch-operated.
Standard-fitted is the Burmester surround sound system, featuring personal sound setup as well as the Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience coupled with the “Online Music” service.
Mercedes-Benz has comprehensively integrated many music streaming providers into the MBUX infotainment system, with 13 speakers, 13 separate amplifier channels and a system output of 590 watts as further features of the Burmester surround sound system.
